Review: Resisting Her by Kendall Ryan

Book Synopsis:

From the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Kendall Ryan comes the sexy and seductive Resisting Her.

Agent Cole Fletcher lives for his job at the FBI, and he’s more than ready for his next assignment—raiding a cult compound and putting their leader behind bars. But he isn’t prepared for Savannah and her knock you on your ass good looks. At nineteen, she’s too old for foster care and too damaged to live on her own. With nowhere else to go, and against his better judgment Cole takes her in.

But helping her out won’t be easy. He comforts her through screaming nightmares and escaping the lingering fears of her past, but that’s the easy part. Her preference to sleep cuddled up next to his warm body, and her desire to please him in every way makes her harder and harder to resist.

So, I love a little visual inspiration as I read a good book with some heat. Here is the perfect guy for you to think of as Cole.

Cole Fletcher of the FBI wasn't looking for love. He had a history of being terrible at relationships and more than one skeleton in his closet. But he can't deny he is immediately drawn to Savannah when he rescues her from a cult camp. Thinking he will be able to clear her from his mind if he just checks to be sure she is safe, he finds her crying and lost not far from the safe house she had been taken to.

Cole breaks all the rules and takes Savannah home with him. He's determined to help her but also to resist his urges to have her. I have no doubts that you will fall in love with Cole too. He just wants to help Savannah and take care of her. When she has nightmares her first night at Cole's house he can't refuse her need to be held. As the weeks pass and they spend everynight in the same bed, Cole finds it hard (pun intended) to resist his need have Savannah.

Trying to keep things in perspective Cole agrees to go on a blind date arranged by his sister. Savannah doesn't question him but she has to wonder why Cole ever brought her home and what his intentions with her may be. Having always been sheltered and told that men only want one thing from a woman, she can only assume Cole has no interest in her because he never makes any advances on her. She finds herself really wishing he would. If she only knew what Cole was having to do to keep from exploding while thinking about her (no worries, the tells us exactly what he does to get some relief).

Cole is still determined to help Savannah create a normal life for herself. But wasn't expecting his medling sister to get involved. This leads to a date for Savannah with the neighbor and the blind date that Cole agreed to. I hated this part!! With all of Cole's manly needs he brings home miss slutty blind date and Savannah ends up with quite the show. Talk about an education, high def and live action. Now you may want to sit on a towel for what's to follow. In his need to comfort Savannah after the visual she just got, he gives her her first Australian kiss. Merciful heaven that was hot. I love that Savannah makes it clear after this that's she no longer the broken girl that he found but that she has needs and wants more.

Unfortunately things don't get any easier between them. Both have pasts that haunt them and Cole still tries to resist his feelings for Savannah. He has a major case of denial. Again he puts her needs first helping her get a drivers licsense, a car, and a job. But denial can only work for so long and then OH MY GOD the glorious release.

*giggles*, that's not really my sofa but you get my drift right. I feel like thanking the author for not rushing through that loss of virginity scene.

It may seem like I've told you alot of the story but there's still so much to tell. Skeletons need to stay in the damn closet when you put them there. Doesn't happen that way. They both have to face their pasts before their future can really start. I was worried the whole time about what Cole was hiding from Savannah but it wasn't as bad as I was thinking. You'll be thanking the author again the all the make-up sex and a wonderful epilogue that takes you to three years in the future. I loved Resisting Her and very much recommend all of Kendall Ryan's books.

UNSURPRISE Cover Reveal and Excerpt: The Bad Boys Series by M. Leighton

You May have noticed that the publisher has already released the covers to this series but we wanted to post them anyway along with a special excerpt of book 3 Everything For Us!

One girl. Twin brothers. An uncommon triangle. When college student Olivia Townsend returned home to help her father run his business, she never imagined a complication like Cash and Nash Davenport—twin brothers different in so many ways but with one thing in common: an uncontrollable desire for Olivia. Cash is dangerous, sexy, and bad to the bone—a man whose kisses make Olivia forget she is playing with fire. Nash is successful, reliable and intensely passionate—and already taken. But all it takes is one soft stroke to make Olivia forget he belongs to someone else. However, Olivia is in for a surprise. These boys have a secret that should make her run away as far and as fast as she can. If only it wasn’t too late. A sensual game between three players has begun, and it’s about to spin deliriously out of control.

M. Leighton’s Down to You was just the beginning. “Up to Me has even more shockers in store!” (Examiner.com) For Olivia, romantic bliss has never felt so right as it does with Cash. Unpredictable, except when it comes to satisfying her desires, Cash’s ‘bad boy’ reputation is well-earned, but he’s turning his life around with the one woman who accepts him for who he is. Until strangers from the past turn Olivia and Cash’s world upside down. What they want is something only Cash can give them. And if he doesn’t deliver, then they’re taking the one thing that Cash values the most. Olivia always knew that in falling for Cash she was likely to get burned. But this new threat is beyond anything she imagined. Now she has to trust Cash with her life—and for Olivia that’s much easier than letting go, and trusting him with her heart.

When it comes to passion this hot, it’s all or nothing.
Olivia Townsend’s wealthy cousin Marissa had everything a girl could ask for—a great job, a privileged life, and all the friends she wanted. Or, at least, all the friends money could buy. But one case of mistaken identity has turned her privileged world upside down. An abduction gone wrong lands her right in the lap of the sexiest, most dangerous man she’s ever met. To Marissa, he’s an enigma, but one to whom she’s irresistibly, inexplicably drawn. With him comes a new world of freedom and passion, of dark shadows and dangerous secrets, a world where nothing is what it seems—except for the blind passion that Marissa can’t escape—or maybe even survive.

**AND NOW ENJOY A SPECIAL EXCERPT FROM EVERYTHING FOR US**

“They’re just parts, like any other woman’s,” she replies breathlessly, trying to be casual.

“I’d be willing to bet your parts are exceptional.  In fact, now might be a good time to warn you that if we come back to this library, I’ll find out for myself.  In this very spot.  I’ll push you up against the books in the corner and I’ll put my hands on you.  I’ll do things to you.  In the quiet.  And you won’t be able to make a sound.  Not a whimper, not a moan.  You’ll have to bite your lip to keep it all inside.  And you know what?” I ask, reaching up to trace my index finger along her full, trembling lower lip.

“What?” she whispers, her pupils two dilated dots of excitement.

“You’ll love every second of it.”

With a wicked grin, I take the books from her arms and turn to walk back the way I came.

Review and Giveaway: Deeper We Fall by Chelsea M. Cameron

Book Synopsis

Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

Lottie (Charlotte) begged her friend Lexie not to ride with Zack and Zan after a party where the guys had been drinking. Lexie wouldn't listen and now two years later, Lottie is plagued by guilt as she blames herself for the condition her best friend is in because of the car accident that night when Lexie left with the Parker brothers. Whether it's the fault of the bitch named Fate or just bad luck, Lottie finds she will have to face the Brothers of Doom at college. They all end up in the same dorm. We find that Lottie isn't the only one suffering from guilt. Zan served time for the crime of  underage drunk driving. He mentally and physically beats himself up. I couldn't help but fall in love with Zan from the beginning. He is nothing like his brother the penis wrinkle. Zan (Alexander) uses poetry by Rumi to help him cope with the guilt. I loved the authors use of quotes from Rumi poems when she was writing in Zan's POV. Zan has always had a crush on Lottie but never had the nerve or social skills to act on his feelings. He never thought after the accident that her would get the chance to having kind of relationship with her. But despite the fact that Lottie hates the Parker brothers, she is still drawn to Zan. Thank heaven he gets on his game and breaks through Lottie's defenses.

It obviously doesn't help anything that Lottie's roommate dating Zack. He's still a big ass that takes advantage of girls. Lottie really wants to protect her roommate Katie from getting hurt by Zack. Her first instincts are to just give her a good smack to wake her up from the charm trance Zack has her in.

Instead Lottie tries to befriend her and gradually as their friendship grows, Zack eventually shows his true ass-hattery. Lottie struggles with her growing feelings for Zan. They share moments on the sly, or so Lottie thinks. But it's kind of hard to keep things from her twin brother Will. All of her friends are very supportive of whatever happens with her and Zan. You'll love her friend Trish.

"Withing about five seconds of talking with her, it was like her soul and my soul did a fist bump and said, Hey, I know you!"

I love Zan's new friend Stryker. He's non-judgemental and shares his love of music with Zan by teaching him to play the banjo. Will and Lottie's friend Simon is fabulous too. Once Lottie and Zan's relationship really takes off and they can both admit their feelings, Zan has a huge secret to confess. I was so scared it was going to ruin everything. I feel I should thank the author for not going that direction with the story.

 photo Fatbitchapproves_zps10306753.gif

Now Lottie's worse fears come true when Zack gets drunk and releases his demon on Katie. Lottie and all of her friends come to her aide. Zan makes sure his brother pays for his mistakes this time. Trust me, you will hate Zack right along with me. He is a snake of the anaconda size. Zan and Lottie get the closure they need with Lexie and start the begining of their happily ever after. I'm excited to read Faster We Burn, a companion novel to Deeper We Fall, coming Spring/Summer 2013.

The Look of Love review and GIVEAWAY

With THE LOOK OF LOVE, bestselling author Bella Andre introduces you the Sullivan family. In this fun and emotional contemporary romance series, when a Sullivan bad boy falls...he falls hard. And it's forever.

Chloe Peterson is having a bad night. A really bad night. The large bruise on her cheek can attest to that. And when her car skids off the side of a wet country road straight into a ditch, she’s convinced even the gorgeous guy who rescues her in the middle of the rain storm must be too good to be true. Or is he?

As a successful photographer who frequently travels around the world, Chase Sullivan has his pick of beautiful women, and whenever he’s home in San Francisco, one of his seven siblings is usually up for causing a little fun trouble. Chase thinks his life is great just as it is—until the night he finds Chloe and her totaled car on the side of the road in Napa Valley. Not only has he never met anyone so lovely, both inside and out, but he quickly realizes she has much bigger problems than her damaged car. Soon, he is willing to move mountains to love—and protect—her, but will she let him?

Chloe vows never to make the mistake of trusting a man again. Only, with every loving look Chase gives her—and every sinfully sweet caress—as the attraction between them sparks and sizzles, she can’t help but wonder if she’s met the only exception. And although Chase didn’t realize his life was going to change forever in an instant, amazingly, he isn’t the least bit interested in fighting that change. Instead, he’s gearing up for a different fight altogether…for Chloe’s heart.

My addiction is full blown after just the first book. It's not often that I can finish a book in a day but I couldn't just walk away from this book. Though I did have to change out the moisture control pads pretty often. This book was hot people.

Photobucket

I love how the author has the leading man trying his hardest to convince the damsel in distress that he's the one for her instead of the girl chasing the guy. Chase jumped in with his whole heart. His mama raised him right. He wants so bad to take away Chloe's pain and help her trust again. Chloe wants to prove she can be strong on her own. But come on people, you can't really expect her to resist "velvet-covered marshmallow".

So they give in to their desires and Chloe faces her fears. Chase helps her regain her confidence and the strength to press charges against her ex-husband. That SOB needs a little Madea grit ball experience.

I was thrilled with the way the book ended. I had to immediately start book two titled From This Moment On. I also finished it in less than a day. I'm telling ya these Sullivans know how to take control. Cum back tomorrow for my next review.

Interview with Bella Andre

about her writing habits and success

  1. Tell us about writing and publishing your very first novel. What were your expectations when you first waded into the self-publishing pond? Is there anything you would do differently if given another chance?

I honestly had no expectations other than some of my loyal readers would finally get a chance to read my book - and that was enough for me. Meeting so many new readers and fans has been icing on a cake I had no idea was being served.

2. You're an icon in the indie publishing community. Your success is something we all aspire to. What do you believe has been the greatest contributing factor to the success of your novels?

Thank you, that's lovely to hear. I've so enjoyed self-publishing these past couple of years, and I've been lucky to have the most wonderful fans with me every step of the way. There are so many things that go into success, but I think my focus and determination - along with the best readers in the world - have been the biggest factors.

3. What was your reaction when you first found out you broke onto the New York Times and USA Today best-sellers' lists? How did you celebrate?

Actually, it's kind of a funny story. I was on my way to the RWA National conference last summer and was sitting in the airport in Albany, New York when I found out I had three books on the USA Today bestsellers list. I called my husband and we had a mini celebration on the phone. I flew into Atlanta where I was switching planes for Anaheim, and when we landed I turned on my phone and checked my email. An agent (not mine, I was agentless at the time) had emailed me with the title "CONGRATULATIONS, New York Times!" That was when I found out I also had three books on the New York Times bestseller list…and I started crying. On the airplane. With a very conservative woman sitting next to me. She must have thought I was losing it, because she promptly turned her back on me. :) Of course I called my husband and cried happy tears some more. That night when I got into Anaheim, all of my closest writing friends came up to my room and we celebrated. It was AWESOME!

4. You've recently shared some very exciting news—Harlequin MIRA has optioned the print rights for The Sullivans in a record-breaking seven-figure deal. Congratulations! How did this transpire? And how does it affect your writing and publishing plans?

Thank you, I'm beyond thrilled about it and Harlequin have been a dream to work with. They are so incredibly enthusiastic about putting The Sullivans out in paperback in English all over the world, with a simultaneous launch in the US, the UK, Canada and Australia starting this June and going back-to-back each month with the first eight books through April 2014. My ebook sales numbers for the self-published Sullivan series had been growing bigger and bigger in the year since I'd started publishing the series, and I knew a print-only deal was going to happen soon. When so many Sullivans hit the New York Times and USA Today all at once, that was when the publishers started calling and making offers. I truly feel that Harlequin is the *perfect* publisher for my sexy, emotional contemporary romance Sullivan series. Because I retained all of my ebook, audiobook, foreign translation and film/TV rights, I am continuing to put out my Sullivans, and other future books, as self-published ebooks and audio books. I have released seven Sullivan ebooks so far and the eighth (ALWAYS ON MY MIND, Lori Sullivan's story) will be out this spring…and I have a great idea for a brand new series that I hope to start writing this year as well. I have licensed the series in Brazil, France and Portugal so far, and the first two books are already big bestsellers in Brazil, which is very exciting.

5. You write fast! Not only do you produce several novels per year, you produce several well written, polished novels per year. What is your writing process like? Do you have any advice for other wordsmiths struggling with productivity?

Thanks for the great compliment. I work so hard on my stories to make sure they're emotional and fun and sexy and that they take my readers out of their lives for a little while. I write every day, everywhere, no matter what. I don't wait for inspiration or a muse to come calling. Fortunately, my favorite thing is writing. In fact, today as I was sniffling over my keyboard during a really emotional scene between my hero and heroine, I was thinking how very happy it made me to be able to write books all day…and to know that I have the best fans in the world waiting to read them!

6. In the early days, what did you do to market your books? Would you recommend these strategies to writers in today's market?

I took a really personal approach. Because I had started digital publishing in response to my readers who had emailed asking me for books, whenever I released a book, I individually emailed each and every single reader to let them know about it. Now, thanks to Facebook and Twitter, I can interact with my readers in other ways that let me spend more time on actually writing, and I recommend doing anything that puts you in touch with your readers.

7. How has making it big changed your approach to writing and marketing your work? Has it changed your approach?

I truly believe that my fans want me to spend more time writing and less time gabbing. :) So I always err on the side of writing…and then once I've met my page count goals for the day, I go onto twitter and Facebook and answer emails.

8. You've connected with a large international fan base. Do readers abroad respond differently to your novels than those in the USA? Which countries in particular have fallen in love with your work?

I'm having a love affair with my Brazilian readers, and I also love love love my Australia/New Zealand, UK and Canadian readers as well! They're so passionate and supportive of The Sullivans - but I've been really fortunate to find readers everywhere have been kind and amazing.

9. You attend a lot of conferences. Recently, you delivered the keynote address at the 2012 Book Expo America. How have conferences contributed to your writing career?

Conferences are an amazing opportunity to stay abreast of what's happening in the business. I get incredible value out of networking in the lounge and hearing what people are up to and what ideas they have. The thing is, I truly love this business and everyone I've met had been wonderful…so it's really not work at all for me. In fact, going to a conference and meeting with people is always such fun.

10. My, you are a busy bee! How do you find balance between writing, publishing, and promoting your books and the rest of your life? Any tips for the rest of us?

Give up sleep and sanity…and have an awesome husband who is happy to take care of absolutely everything non-book-related in your life! :) But seriously - get a good team behind you. I have a team of beta readers, editors, proofers and digital file producers, I work with great bloggers, and I also have the love and support of my family. Everyone thinks "indie publishing" means being independent, but it's not the case at all. While you get to be charge of your own career and your own vision, you also work with tons of great people to put your book out there!

Review and GIVEAWAY: Up To Me by M. Leighton

Book Synopsis:

Happily ever after doesn’t come easy. But for love, it’s always worth the fight.

Olivia finds bliss unlike any she’s ever known in Cash’s arms. He sets her skin on fire and melts her heart right inside her chest. Unfortunately, their happily ever after is short-lived when a shadow from Cash’s past threatens to turn their world upside down.

Dangerous people from his father’s world have discovered that Cash holds information that could put them away for a very long time. And they’re willing to do anything—and hurt anybody—to get it back. Giving it up means Cash must choose between the life of his father and the life of Olivia.

Having nearly overcome her wariness of bad boys, Olivia’s trust is shaken when this new threat arises. Now she finds that Cash is not only a danger to her heart, but his family has associations that are a danger to her life as well. She soon discovers that there are some situations in life where trust is a girl’s only option. And this is one of them. If she’s to live, she must trust Cash with her life. But to Olivia, that’s much, much easier than letting go and trusting him with her heart.

In Up To Me the story picks up where Down to You ended. Olivia and Cash are at work in the club. Taryn (skank trouble maker) does a fine job of destroying any confidence Olivia had in her relationship with Cash.

"Any girl who goes into a relationship with Cash thinking she'll change him or that she'll be the only one is dumber than a box of her long blond hair."

And if that wasn't enough, things go horribly wrong for Olivia's cousin Marissa thanks to the criminals associated with Cash's father. Olivia fights with herself trying to decide if she should trust her heart, her body's desire for Cash or her head that thinks she should run  from this bad boy and his dangerous family. Thank heaven she listens to the body. Ladies you better put on your poise pads when Cash and Olivia get to the hotel. When Cash says "RIDE ME", you will be sitting in a puddle.

Cash decides to call in some reinforcements in his Part-Time Manager Gavin.

I love Gavin. We get to know him more in Up To Me. He's flirty and gorgeous and says things like "Nah, I stow my only super power in my pants" and "Damn, that woman is one mighty bitch. I think my balls just now dropped back down". Did I mention he has an accent?

One of my fave characters, Ginger, is back too. She's happy for Olivia and encourages her relationship with Cash. Here's another fave quote from her.

"I'm just happy to see your hen house being taken care of by such a fabulous cock".

OK, now remember Duffy from the Epilogue of Down To You? Well his sorry ass is back. He's responsible for more than we thought in the whole scandal with Cash's family.

In the end Cash and Olivia are in love and committed but still in deep shit trouble because of Cash's father. I also totally didn't tell you about a MAJOR twist in the story. You'll be like.....

We have a kick ass Giveaway at the end of this post but first I am gonna put in my opinion on this book. First of all it was absolutely fantastic! The suspense was well done and halfway through the book you get a wet fish slap you won't see coming that made me suck a whole ice cube down my throat and choke damn near to death!

This is the kind of book that makes me remember why I used to love to read as a kid. I loved Nancy Drew books where the suspense was palpable! I felt my heartbeat in my throat as well as in my pants while reading Up To Me! Which brings me to the second point in my 2 Cents! The HEAT! HOLY SHIT! Pulse pounding, Pantie Soaking sexual chemistry has never jumped off the page better. I don't know anyone in my natural damn life with stamina as good as Cash's. I had to ask Mrs. Leighton if that shit was even possible!!!?? And If so find me a damn man with that kind of stamina! I don't care if he is ugly as fuck with a face like Mama's baked ziti! With all good stories you gotta have some juicy dramz and you definitely get a fistful of DRAMA to the face with Cash and Olivia that's for damn sure. This book was even better than Down To You and with the juicy epilogue you know that only more exciting shit is on the way! I want to give a big THANK YOU to M. Leighton for the ARC of this book I have to have on my bookshelf soon!

About The Author:

I was born and raised in the United States, and I’ve lived in several of the fabulous fifty. Though I currently live in the deep South, I spent much of my childhood up North and hope to return there one day. A few other things about me: I believe that sometimes you have to look really, REALLY hard to find the good in people, but it's there. I believe that I'm shrinking (I swear five years ago I was two inches taller). I believe my husband is quite possibly one of the most amazing men in the entire world (I can't be sure because I haven't met all of them). I believe coffee and chocolate, when combined, could be the basis for world peace. I believe that Jesus rocks and communism doesn’t. I believe that white makes me look fat and black collects lint. I believe summer's too hot, winter's too cold and fall was made for football. I like dogs better than cats and the first movie in a trilogy is invariably the best. But most of all, I believe that love conquers all
