Excerpt

“Have you thought about me?” I ask. “Since last night at the show? Because I’ve thought about you.”

“What did you think about me? That I’m your next victim?”

“No, actually.” I smooth down the blanket on the ground of the shed and then step towards her, taking her face in my hands and pulling her tight against my chest. “I’ve thought about your hot breath as you panted against my cock when I was standing on your chair. I thought about your upturned eyes, looking at me if I ever got the chance to get you on your knees.”

She gulps air.

“Now tell me what you’ve been thinking about. Because you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t want to be.”

“We’re locked in,” she whispers as my mouth moves in closer.

I kiss her softly. No tongue, just a small, tender kiss that makes girls melt. “You have a phone, Tiffy. One call to your BFF, Claudio, and you’re free.”

She stares at me.

“But even though I might be the biggest prick you ever met, you want me, don’t you.”

She swallows hard.

“And I want you. That’s why we’re here. I want you. So if you don’t feel the same way, now’s your chance to say so.”

“I want…” She stops. There was a word on her lips, but I’m almost certain it was not my name. Jealousy heats me up in a millisecond. What kind of girl has another man’s name on her tongue when she’s gazing up into my eyes?

“What?” I say sharply. “What were you gonna say?”

“I want to be irresistible. Like you.”

“What?” I have to admit, I’m surprised. And then I laugh. “Are you a virgin?”

“I’m twenty-six, asshole. I’m not a fucking virgin.”

“Then what do you mean? I’m confused.”

“You’re just…” She sighs. “So good at this stuff. Seduction, right? I’m bad at it.”

“Who do you want to seduce?” My jealous rage is back.

“No one. Not specifically. But you’re so confident. And I’m so… not. I feel like I should take notes.”

It’s my turn to sigh. “What, you want me to teach you how to seduce someone?” The irony is not lost.

“Well, look. I hate you. I really do. You had me grabbing your cock last night and then I got accused of sexually harassing you. You made me feel like an idiot in that meeting with your plans and proposals. And now I’m up in your sex den, and I’m not sure what’s happening.” She looks at me with pleading eyes. “Tell me how you get all this control. How do you do it?”

I think about this for a few seconds, and then take a calculated risk. “How many blowjobs have you given in your life, Tiffy?”

“What?” She laughs, putting her hand over her heart like the word ‘blowjob’ is an assault on her virtue.

“Any?”

“I’ve given… one,” she admits, and then averts her eyes.

I’m turned on again. “One? One is not enough. If you want to know how to control a man, you don’t need to look any further than your own mouth. Men are drawn to lips. Every girl they ever think about sexually starts with an image of their cock in that girl’s mouth. So if you want control, you gotta lead a guy to your mouth.”

She takes a deep breath. “Go on.”

God, why am I so annoyed that she’s asking me for pointers? I can make her do anything I want right now. I should be celebrating.

“Please,” she begs. “Tell me.”

I place a hand on her shoulder and push. “Get on your knees.”

Truth or Dare by Ember Casey {Review & Giveaway}

Genre: New Adult/ Contemporary Romance
Author: Ember Casey
Published: August 26, 2013
Pages: 211

After their passionate, heated weekend at the Cunningham estate, Lily and Calder have decided to take their relationship to the next level. But love in the real world isn’t all fun and games—especially when it becomes clear that Calder still harbors his share of secrets.

When Calder suggests they hold off on sex for a while, Lily knows something is seriously wrong—and she’s not afraid to pull out the big guns. She makes Calder a proposal he can’t refuse: an ongoing match of Truth or Dare that she hopes will bring them closer together both physically and emotionally.

But as the contest increases in intensity, so do the stakes, and suddenly Lily and Calder have to face the question they’ve both been avoiding: what sort of relationship do they have when they strip away all the games?
Globug's Take
Just three weeks after the story ended in His Wicked Games, Lily starts a game of Truth or Dare. Unfortunately, Lily and Calder still don't have truth on their side. Both are having trouble being completely honest. Not just with each other, but Lily has yet to tell her Dad about her new relationship with "the sex god" who is "responsible for the near-ruin" of her fathers dreams, the community art center. The author brings the heat before the couple can even go out on their first date at 3% into the story. No complaints here.

There's no denying the physical chemistry they have. But Lily wants to believe they have a deeper connection. It quickly becomes clear that Calder is keeping things from her. She wants to be there for him, to be supportive as he tries to deal with and overcome the death of his father and the financial nightmare he was left with. So again, the games begin between Calder and Lily. She believes a game of Truth or Dare can not only get her  answers to so many of the secrets Calder keeps, but will allow her to be a "suitable distraction" that could bring a little happiness back to his life.

Both Lily and Calder have issues with self doubt that only magnify their trust issues. Games are not the solution. Add a massive douche bag reporter to the mix and things go downhill without Lily even seeing it happen. Their relationship is really put to the test when Calder's family financial ruin becomes public knowledge. Once Calder comes clean to Lily about all his concerns and the secrets he's been keeping, things take a massive turn down the path of 'oh shit I messed up'. Lily was played the fool by mister D-bag reporter. Now Calder feels totally betrayed. Is love too late? Both know what their hearts want. But just as it looks like it's game over, Calder makes a major play. My heart swoons even more for him as he tries to win Lily's heart but more importantly her trust. Happy endings are always the best. I look forward to more games this fall with book three titled Through My Window.

Until I Break by M. Leighton {Review}

Genre: Erotic/Adult Contemporary
Publication Date: May 14th 2013
Publisher: Self Published
Format: Bound ARC Provided By Author
Pages: 328 (subject to change)

"I’m intrigued. Tempted beyond what I’ve ever been before. To know her, to open her up. To break her." In love, sometimes what you fear most is exactly what you need. Laura Drake is an author. She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts. She is sharp. She is confident. She is in control. And she doesn’t exist. Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists. She is shy. She is insecure. She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego. She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with. Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books. Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare. When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life. Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be. Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes. Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec. And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her. The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason. And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both. **This book may be read as a stand-alone, as the story of Alec and Samantha comes to a conclusion in this book*

Blog Tour: Review + Guest Post + GIVEAWAY {Picture Perfect by Alessandra Thomas}

Series: Stand Alone
Genre: New Adult
Author: Alessandra Thomas
Publication Date: March 26th 2013
Format: ARC copy provided for tour
Rating: 5 Stars

Synopsis:
Fashion design major Cat Mitchell has a closet full of gorgeous clothes - and not a single thing fits. After two years of runway modeling for easy cash, an accident shattered her lower leg bone and her self-esteem in just one swift fall. Ten months of no exercise, prescription steroids, comfort eating and yoga pants meant returning to campus as a size twelve instead of her former size two.

When her gorgeous long-time friend with benefits sees her for the first time after her accident and snubs her in front of all her friends, Cat’s self-image hits rock bottom. Her sorority sisters all insist that she looks gorgeous, but all Cat sees is the roll of her stomach when she sits down, or the dimpling at the back of her thighs that wasn't there last year. Cat’s therapist prescribes something radical to stop the downward spiral - nude modeling for a nearby college's human form drawing classes.

When Cat faces her fears and bares it all for the class, she realizes that she's posing naked in front the most gorgeous, buffest guy she's ever seen in her life. He asks her out after the class, and after one steamy night together, Cat's absolutely smitten.

Nate’s pretty close to perfect – he takes Cat rock climbing when he discovers that it makes her feel strong and becomes a great chef after he learns that the perfect pesto sauce makes her swoon. Cat starts to feel like her old self again - confident and beautiful - as long as Nate's around. Even when he discourages her from entering the Real Woman Project, a design competition for plus-sized apparel, she reasons that he's just trying to prevent old body image wounds from splitting wide open again.

But when Cat goes home with Nate for Thanksgiving, she discovers something shocking from his recent past that proves that he hasn’t always been so encouraging of women of all shapes and sizes. Cat has no idea what to think, but she does know one thing - this might destroy their relationship before it's even had a chance to get off the ground.

Before Cat can figure out whether the real Nate is the sensitive, adoring guy she fell in love with, or an undercover asshole, she'll have to finally feel comfortable in her own skin - even if it means leaving him forever.

"Picture Perfect is a beautiful story about finding out who you are and loving yourself for it" -Hootie

The blurb is pretty self explanatory in laying out the gist of the story but what you get to see in the book is how Cat grows into a more confident woman. She used to be skinny and once she gains weight after her horse riding accident she no longer feels attractive or worthy. When she takes her counselor's advice and poses nude in an art class she gets some of that powerful feeling she used to have as a skinny model back. That class is where she meets Nate, an architectural design student who is very smitten with her just as she is. Nate was the most amazing guy character. He was so loving and attentive to Cat and he helped give her back some of her confidence. He encouraged her to be strong and not focus on her appearance so much.

Let's discuss the hotness that is Nate shall we? I'm about to break it down a la TLC style...*Clears Throat*

"Let's Talk about NATE baby, let's talk about his Wee-nie. Let's talk about all the good things and the bad things, he can. DO. TO. ME. Let's talk about NATE!"

*bows*

Sometimes a girl has to bust out into song when a hot guy comes along! Nate is such a fantastically written male character that when you find out how he used to be, it doesn't even factor into your opinion about him WHAT-SO-EVER!  Yeah he said and did some Douche -Baggy things but by the time you find this out you will have fallen so deeply in love with him that you won't even notice. Watching him basically worship Cat's body, mind and soul is erotic in and of itself, outside the hot sex they have and they have some hot ass sex! We find out these two share a past connection and that just makes their relationship that much sweeter. Nate makes her feel beautiful and made me swoon when he started describing her body as he explored. Whew! Talk about hot! There were lots of steamy moments to make you sweat because Nate is just too damn hot!!  He's not just a sex machine though, he's very attentive and sweet. He paid attention to Cat and her feelings. He helps her focus on herself and what is important is how she sees herself, not how others see her. I would love to hug the author for writing such a wonderful, sexy and devoted guy that can make you swoon and have hot flashes all in one moment. *High Five*

Besides her relationship with Nate though the author showed that all her friends still accepted her as she was and loved her despite the weight gain. I really loved seeing that Cat had a team of support and nobody judged her or made her feel less than worthy. Anything she felt about herself was exactly that, her thoughts and feelings. Cat is my absolute HERO! Once she started to heal after her ordeal something happens in the club one night involving her ex Jake that just made me love her more than I did when the book started!

The most beautiful and important part of the book is the overall message of body image. How we see ourselves, and I feel like the author did a fantastic job showing Cat's struggles accurately in how she adjusted to her new size. Speaking as a woman who has had a poor body image her whole life this book really spoke to me because I know what it feels like to see myself as fat and disgusting.  Watching Cat struggle felt familiar to me and made my bond with her character that much more solid. I know most women feel this way from time to time and this book is perfect for women like us. Not only does it shine a light on body image issues but the growth of the main character throughout the story helps show that it is more important to love WHO you are instead of WHAT SIZE you are. There were moments watching Cat compare her past life to the one she is living at the moment and she slowly realizes she was not as happy as she might have thought and THAT was the reward with this book. This story left me with such a sweet, warm feeling and I definitely recommend it for any woman struggling with self image or hell even a woman who just likes to read about a hot guy banging an equally hot and curvy woman! There wasn't one thing I didn't love about this book. It definitely deserves Five stars and maybe even a few more just because!

"First, he never just wanted to see you. He wanted a place to put his dick. Second, he doesn't not want to be with you because you're fat, he doesn't want to be with you because he's a dick. Because you're not fat. And third, from what I heard, the sex was never that good anyway." Loc. 311

"This is what a woman looks like. This is what made the masters so hungry to paint. They all knew better than the dumb ass fashion magazines, Cat. Trust me. It's amazing how so many curves can all come together into something so absolutely visually perfect." Loc. 1325

"I got my act together, and realized that with or without him, or any guy, or any modeling gig in my life, I was just fine. I was still me, still lovable and worthy and attractive. No matter what I looked like." Loc. 2896

Our Culture’s Obsession with Weight:
Ohhhh Globug and Hootie. What to say about our culture’s obsession with weight?
Well, first of all, I’m obsessed with weight. So there’s that. I mean, seriously, I can’t ever remember a time in my life when I didn’t want to be thinner. Literally. I started dieting at age eleven.
If eleven-year-old kids have some concept of what “too fat” is, they must be getting it from somewhere, right? So I think you’re right – our culture IS focused on weight, or rather, a certain standard of beauty that is very rigid and only includes people of a certain height and build.

Here’s what I mean. Fashion models are typically between 5’ 9” and 6’ tall. The models representing ‘typical’-sized girls are a size 0-4, and the models representing ‘plus’ sized girls are usually size 6-12. The average American woman is 5’4”, 162 lbs, and a size 14.

Um. WHAT?

What I’m saying is that the women who live in fashion magazines and catalogs, displaying the clothes we’re supposed to wear and how we’re supposed to look at them, have bodies completely unlike almost all of their target audience. Even when we’re shopping for clothing, our number one tool for looking our best in the bodies we currently occupy, we’re going to be plumper and bumpier and shorter and stumpier than the women displaying the clothing.
I’m sorry, but what kind of f**cked up sh*t is that?

On top of that, you almost never see a round, short girl starring in a TV show, or singing on a stage. The beautiful people get the celebrity, get the attention, are the most adored. To make the celebrity perfection image worse, it’s common practice to Photoshop celebrities and models into oblivion. Check out these before-and-after Photoshop gifs of celebrities and just tell me your jaw didn’t drop. http://www.buzzfeed.com/jessicamisener/17-mesmerizing-before-after-photoshop-gifs

See? Of course we’re obsessed with weight! We’ve been taught to strive toward this mostly-unattainable goal our whole lives. It’s everywhere. And, honestly, it’s not much better for men than for women.

To top it all off, our culture makes it really, really easy to eat badly. ESPECIALLY for college students and younger people with a shortage of time and cash. Which brings me to -

Why is Junk Food So Much Cheaper than Healthy Food?

Hmmm?
Okay, listen. Here’s the thing. Are carrot sticks actually more expensive than potato chips? I have no freaking clue. I actually did some Googling on the matter, *adjusts glasses* and found out there was some New York Times editorial kerfuffle where some classist guy was saying that healthy food was cheaper, and then there were a bunch of reactions, and…look. I don’t know, you guys. Okay?
But I do know one thing about junk food – it’s way, way easier to obtain, fully ready to eat, than healthy food. It’s also stored more easily. One of my friends tried getting me to do a cleanse – basically I could only eat like fruit and vegetables and whole grains. Not only was it a nightmare because OH MY GOD GIVE ME SOME CHOCOLATE but on top of that I was going to the grocery store every other freaking day. And spending my money on spinach and tofu. Neither of which is chocolate.

I digress. The point is, that not only do you have to go shopping for healthy food three times as often as for junk food, but then you have to cook the stuff. And so even if it’s not actually more expensive than the junk food, it seems more expensive, because in all the time you spent shopping and preparing and cleaning up the kitchen afterwards you could have done some more homework, or taken a nap, or read a fabulous book like Picture Perfect (wink wink.)  And our culture is so obsessed with being busy, busy, busy all the freaking time, that anything that SAVES us time is automatically more valuable.
Also, apparently, eating junk food is addictive.

Awesome.
In summary, I don’t know exactly why it’s more difficult to eat healthy food than junk food, but I do know that it is. Probably you should find yourself a boyfriend who likes to cook, like Nate, or at the very least get a cable subscription and watch Curtis Stone cook for another lucky girl on TLC.

Mmmm. Arms.

See? You feel hotter already, don’t you?

Series: Dare Me #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Entangled (Brazen)
Publication Date: October 1st 2012
Format: PDF submitted for review by publisher
Rating: 5 Stars

Synopsis:
When Lacey Garrity finds her groom in flagrante delicto in the reception hall closet with her bridesmaid, she's saved by her best friend’s older brother—childhood tormentor, crush, and boxing bad boy Galen Thomas. Galen’s solution is both exciting and dangerous. What better way to forget the mess of her life than go on her honeymoon with a hot guy who can’t promise anything beyond today?

…or TKO?

Galen had been counting on Lacey's wedding to put her out of reach—and out of his mind—once and for all, but their steamy Puerto Rican escape is testing all his boundaries. Now that Lacey’s embracing her inner bad girl, Galen is tempted to throw in the towel and claim her for himself. But with the biggest fight of his career on the line and an important business merger threatening to derail Lacey’s resolve, their romance might be down for the count before it even begins.

I love books like this. With a hot hunk of man you fall in love with and a good romance to back it all up. Down For The Count starts with Lacey walking in on her new husband banging one of her best friends at their wedding reception. Not only is she stunned but she is pissed off at her friend whom she trusted. Lacey isn't really upset about Marty (Soon to be EX Husband) because she didn't really love him to begin with. Not wanting to face a room full of people and the humiliation that follows she turns to Galen her closest friends brother and childhood crush to get her away from there. They end up back at his family lake front cabin where they play a drinking game to get her mind off of everything. What starts out as innocent fun turns into a dare with them both winding up in her honeymoon suite in Puerto Rico. When Lacey wakes up the day after the drinking she comes to her senses enough to realize she made a mistake and needs to get back and handle all of the wedding day disasters. Galen convinces her to take some time and relax and enjoy herself for once and they spend a day on the beach soaking up the sun. When Lacey has a bathing suit mishap that causes Galen to rethink not touching his sister's best friend the heat gets turned up another notch on the dial! These two had amazing chemistry that left me breathless in some scenes. My God I think I needed a boat oar to get around my apartment this shit was so hot! Galen shows Lacey the better side of pleasure she has missed out on her whole life choosing mediocre lovers and she can't get enough. There are some hilarious moments that happen when they meet another couple at dinner who mistake them for "Swingers". As Lacey and Galen get closer while there, someone shows up to bring her back to the real world and pops their romantic bubble. They both part ways and get back to their respective careers but are they too hard headed to take a chance on love?

I really loved this book! I was  drawn in by the first chapter and hooked throughout by the steamy romance between the two main characters Lacey and Galen. Lacey was the uptight, workaholic, control freak and Galen was the carefree, hot as sin boxer with a heart of gold. Watching him slowly break down her defenses while they were in this beautiful tropic location was fantastic! I have always been a sucker for a story about childhood friends to lovers situations and this one really played my heartstrings. Lacey has been in love with Galen since she was little and Galen always had a thing for her but kept his distance because she was younger than him. There were a few moments from his POV that took a brief look back at his younger days hanging around with Lacey that shows the reader just how he felt about her. I enjoyed being given that small glimpse because at first you think Galen wasn't really into her when he was a young man. With him always calling her "Squirt" throughout her life you get the feeling that he only looks at her as his sister's best friend but when they become something more to each other the nickname becomes a sweet term of endearment that made me swoon for Galen so hard!

Lacey was a very insecure character. She couldn't understand why someone as hot as Galen would want her because she felt like a plain Jane, especially after her dumbass husband banged her friend. How could any woman feel special about herself after that? It doesn't help that her mother is a raging bitch who controls every aspect of Lacey's life and has never really liked Galen or his sister Cathrine or "Cat" as she prefers to be called. I loved watching Galen slowly break down her controlling defenses and how he helped her relax a little. Seeing how Lacey grew up with her rigid mother you really fall in love with her best friend Cat who has always been a lifeline for her. She has also gotten Lacey into some trouble a time or two which is the reason why Lacey's mother can't stand her. Which brings me to my next point...CAT!! She gets her own book and I couldn't be more thrilled! This funny redhead is a spitfire and with only small glimpses of her in this book you just want more of her. She was funny and snarky and just down right FUN! I can't wait to see what shenanigans she brings to the table in her story.

Down For The Count was downright fun, flirty and sexy! It was such a romantic story filled with serious heat and sweet endearing moments that will have you saying "Aww" and "DAYUM!" so grab a fresh pack of panties (TRUST) and get to reading!!

Oh my God. I kneed him in the wiener. And oh my
frigging God, it was like stone. pg 45

His name was a litany on her lips and her body
tensed, straining against him. She was close. God, she
was so fucking close. And his cock was loaded for bear
and he was a suck, fuck, or jerk away from the point of
no return. pg 102

“I wish you could see what I see. My cock slipping
in and out of those sweet pink folds.” His husky voice
grounded her, and she pushed back against him, taking
him deeper in a counter thrust. “Damn it, Lacey, I can’t
hold back if you do that.”
“Don’t hold back. Please, don’t hold back,” she
pleaded. pg 186

The Monster Within (Mounting Darkness #1) by Lola Rayne

Series: Mounting Darkness #1
Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy Romance
Publication Date: October 2nd 2012
Format: Mobi submitted by author for review
Rating: 4 Stars

Synopsis:
Sometimes the monster that haunted you as a child truly is real...

All it took was one phone call to bring Nicole Jones' life crumbling down around her. Now a nightmare she thought she'd left in her past is back, and he's not exactly bringing her candy and flowers. While fleeing, in a non-terrified fashion, she meets a menacing man in a dark alley. Then promptly passes out at his feet.

Gideon Evans hasn't exactly been having the best run of luck, but all that changes when a buxom little blond collapses right in front of him. Or at least he thinks it has. It doesn’t take him long to realize that bombshell is an appropriate description for more than just her looks. Now he's facing several problems, including a surprising enemy, his own dark past, and a rather inconvenient case of lust.

Can they work together to battle the nightmare that's chasing them? Or will they succumb to the monster within?

I wouldn't say I am a huge fan of Paranormal Romance but I do enjoy a good story with some crazy characters and sexy situations. Lola Rayne definitely brings both to the table in this short yet steamy novella. This story starts off with Nicole Jones doing her everyday job of working at a high end Fine Goods store working the reception desk. All seems fine until she gets a call from someone she thought was dead. She doesn't know whether to shit or go blind.. well actually she barfs on herself and runs off leaving the store behind not even locking it in her haste to get away from that voice. She is starting to panic hardcore and her vision is getting spotty when she sees a big man in dark clothing approaching and wigs out even more until she realizes it's not who she is running from but the stress of the "Freak Out" is too much and she passes out. When she wakes up she is BUTT ASS NAKED in a strange bed, in a strange building with a man she doesn't know but is oddly attracted to. Enter Gideon. A big oaf with a fucked up honker and not really drop dead gorgeous but you wouldn't kick him outta bed either with his broad shoulders and warm brown eyes. She manages to pull herself out of her lust filled thoughts of this strange man and cleans herself up in the bathroom where she sneaks in a phone call for help.

When she comes out from the bathroom freshly showered she finds out why she ended up in Gideons apartment naked. They end up in a heated moment when his door bursts open and her help comes busting in the door. She assures her friends she is fine and tries to get them to leave but they don't want to leave her with Gideon, fearing for her safety. When she calls forth her power she proves to them she is fine and forces them to go. Gideon explains how he was changed into a "Beast" and shows her a picture of the man who created him to be the way he is and Nicole recognizes him as the man she had been running from. They gather his friends and hers and make out a plan to try and bring down this man known as Slaine. She explains how she thought she killed him years ago and has tried to start her life over not using her magic. They are given amulets to wear to protect them from his power but when Gideon loses his in the heat of passion with Nicole he becomes a tool used by Slaine to kill Nicole. The entire time Gideon is being treated to mental images of of Nicole's torture and can do nothing to stop it, while Nicole and Slaine are in a fierce battle using their powers. Nicole digs deeper inside herself than she ever has and calls forth a tremendous power she didn't know she had and sends Slaine flying out of the window four stories to his death but he once again proves he can't be killed as easily as thought.

This was a pretty intense little novella for me. It almost had an X-men sort of feel to it in the way the character's "power" was described. Gideon was a "beast" but not in the change into a werewolf sense, and Nicole could channel Fire and Wind almost like Storm. I love the X-men series so this was right up my alley in terms of story line and paranormal aspect. The story itself was well written to be so short and I am hoping there will be another one so we can find out what happens with this dick head Slaine. Seeing a small snippet from his perspective in this book was both sick and exciting. He has a serious attachment to Nicole having snatched her as a young child and when she was older the bitch tried to make her his lover. EW! Sounds like someone has a pedophile fetish LOL!

As for Gideon, well he isn't how most male characters are described. Strong jaw, chiseled handsome features, NO! Gideon is just average, with a sort of Craggy face a bent up honker but his personality and the way he cares for Nicole is what makes him special. From the moment he finds her passed out he is attentive and gentle seeing her as his mate. I loved his internal dialogue with himself when he ends up at her apartment and sees it's a damn mess. It's like that episode of Friends when Ross dates the messy girl and freaks out when his hand touches something nasty LOL! Love that show!

Nicole was such a strong character and I really loved how fierce she was. This girl lost her family at a young age and was held prisoner by a madman and still managed to survive growing up with him. When she was old enough for him to look at her in a different light she didn't become the victim but she gathered strength to actually try to kill him. That shit takes guts and I admired her for that as well as managing to start fresh with her life and move on. To be such a short read there was plenty of character development and dialogue to fill you in on some story aspects. The only thing I didn't understand is exactly what Slaine did to transform Gideon into the beast he became. Hopefully if there is another book after this we will get a little more info on Gideon's back story.

The Monster Within was a great little short novella packed with action, laughs and some amazing steamy scenes between the main characters that will make you lick your lips and want more!

So either the man had a shamefully tiny penis, had been  extraordinarily gentle, or hadn't actually assaulted her. Loc. 217

"You shouldn't taunt the beast. That gets nice little girls like you eaten all up." Loc. 460

"If I can't play with the toys I want, I don't want to play at all." she whipsered in a sultry tone. Loc. 1141
