About CHASING RIVER: Armed with two years' worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude. Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn't let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move. Maybe it's because he saved her life, or maybe it's because he's completely different from everything she's left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone. And River isn't the kind of guy she'd want to catch.

     Globug's Review

Not gonna lie, River had me at "hello, I'm Irish." He doesn't really say that but he is Irish and yes that alone got my attention. Best part is that his awesome factor never wavered for me.

River Delaney is the middle of three brothers. For him it's like having an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. His oldest brother Aengus, the devil, has recently been released from prison and quickly finds his way back to trouble. Then there's Rowen who is in college and helping River run the family pub. He's sweet and fun-loving and totally loyal to River. I loved his character. In River's attempt to keep Aengus out of trouble he finds himself right in the middle of a potentially lethal bombing. He saves the life of Amber Welles but then runs away before he can be identified, or so he thought.

Amber, the daughter of a Sheriff has always followed the rules while her brother spent much of they're childhood braking them. After becoming successful and having a career as a  Nurse she has decided to travel the world before settling down. Ireland was to be only one of the many places she planned to explore. Her plans did not of course include being nearly killed by a pipe bomb. She makes it her mission to find the mystery hero that saved her life. She struggles with being the girl that always does what's expected of her or to let her curiosities help her discover who she really is as an individual. I found Amber to be very likable. She steps out of her comfort zone to persue River, a man that is surrounded by danger and not the kind of guy she can see ever having a future with but his gorgeous looks and hero status make him  irresistible.

The author gives a brief history lesson in the beginning that helped me to better understand the real danger Amber faces by associating with River. River struggles to protect his family from the trouble that Aengus has caused but at the same time he also wants to protect Aengus. His growing feelings for Amber and his self deprecating feelings continue to complicate matters.

Amber and River ultimately give into desire. Their passion pushes them past their doubts until the potential danger becomes a reality and nearly costs them everything. I hoped that Aengus might redeem himself but honestly in the end he was forced to do the right thing and that just wasn't enough. I wasn't thrilled that Amber chose to follow her head more than her heart but that's just because I know I wouldn't have been strong enough to make the choice she did. And her decision does lead to River making some pretty epic choices as well. I have to say Chasing River was my favorite so far in this series. I would love for the author to write a book for the youngest brother Rowen.

And don’t forget BURYING WATER and BECOMING RAIN, the first two books in this thrilling series…

Review: The Rules For Disappearing by Ashley Elston

Genre: Young Adult
Publication Date: May 14th 2013
Publisher: Disney/Hyperion
Format: eARC Provided by Netgalley
Rating: 5 Stars

Synopsis:
She’s been six different people in six different places: Madeline in Ohio, Isabelle in Missouri, Olivia in Kentucky . . . But now that she’s been transplanted to rural Louisiana, she has decided that this fake identity will be her last.

Witness Protection has taken nearly everything from her. But for now, they’ve given her a new name, Megan Rose Jones, and a horrible hair color. For the past eight months, Meg has begged her father to answer one question: What on earth did he do – or see – that landed them in this god-awful mess? Meg has just about had it with all the Suits’ rules — and her dad’s silence. If he won’t help, it’s time she got some answers for herself.

But Meg isn’t counting on Ethan Landry, an adorable Louisiana farm boy who’s too smart for his own good. He knows Meg is hiding something big. And it just might get both of them killed. As they embark on a perilous journey to free her family once and for all, Meg discovers that there’s only one rule that really matters — survival.

From time to time I will check out Netgalley and see what is coming up and boy am I glad I did with this one! This book was a great page turner.

Meg Jones and her family are in the witness relocation program from what she assumes is something her father did. Their new placement takes them to a small town in Louisianna where she vows to herself to find out what happened and stop running. She ends up looking after her younger sister "Mary" because their mother is battling an alcohol addiction and their dad is busy trying to work with the FEDs and keep a steady job to provide for them what the program doesn't fund. Starting a new school is difficult to begin with but with Meg it proves to be harder than she first planned. See "Meg" has promised herself she won't make any friends or get close to any boys for fear of being taken away again. NO attachments mean NO heartache but the handsome and charming Ethan Landry makes that impossible. She meets him for the first time in the school office while getting her schedule and then he tries to befriend her at lunch. She avoids him as much as possible until she gets a job at a local pizza joint where it just so happens his aunt owns the place. The more she avoids him the more curious he gets and soon starts to uncover what she's hiding. She finally gives in and tells him some of what she can and they become closer despite Megs plan not to get close.

Strange things start happening to Meg that she tries to brush off as just her paranoia but she starts to think the people who are after them have found her. When she starts having memory flashes she first thought were just nightmares, she begs her dad to finally tell her the real reason they are on the run. What she finds out turns her whole world upside down. With the help of Ethan and some old friends she finally figures out just what happened and tries to handle things herself but ends up making things more complicated that leads to a "To Be Continued..." ending!

A Young Adult book that packs in action, romance, suspense and drama? Yes Please! This book had a little of everything for every taste. I aboslutely loved it! Getting to see what this family went through just to be able to survive was intense. Fake contact lenses, hair dye and new names were only half of the things they had to deal with. Poor Meg can't have any sort of a normal teenage life filled with dating and first kisses and prom because she is terrified that the FED's or "The Suits" as she calls them will snatch them up and relocate them. She learned her lesson with one boy she liked at a previous location and when The Suits swooped in the kid no idea why he was just stood up. Meg was such a strong character to be so young and watching her cope with a life she didn't want and something she feels like she shouldn't have to suffer through was really sad to witness. She's watching her mother slowly deteriorate by alcohol, her dad is distant and doesn't really do much for her or her sister so she ends up taking care of both herself and her sister. On top of that she is watching the light fade out of her sisters eyes with every move and doesn't know how to help. It's not until Ethan comes in to the picture that things start to change.

Ah Ethan. My heart went crazy for this kid! He was sweet, patient and a really strong guy who was just what Meg needed. He becomes a good friend and as they slowly grow closer he becomes her rock and partner throughout her journey. During one scene he takes her out Hog hunting (It's a southern thing just go with it) and she has a freak out moment that causes her to go into shock to which Ethan steps up and takes care of the situation with ease, making sure she got home and that she was ok. He really shows his true character when he so selflessly gets swept up into the mess that is her life and ends up being her greatest Ally when they are both in danger. But the absolute best part was watching Ethan bond with Megs sister Mary and bring her out of her shell that this lifestyle has caused her to retreat in. Mary was almost despondant until she met Ethan and they were almost inseperable. How can you not love a guy who loves your baby sister?

When the smoke cleared and the story wrapped up the ending had me confused because it felt like it could go either way. It was one of those things where you get answers but you are left with even more and I was freaking out wondering if there would be a sequel. Thankfully I hounded the author on Twitter and she confirmed she is working on the second one AT. THIS. MOMENT. It was such a good book that I just couldn't stand to think there wouldn't be another. I hope the next one is filled with even more twists, turns and freefalls as this one because to be a smut free YA book it sure knocked my socks off!

"Dad's the only thing stopping mom's drunk ass from falling off the bed. Teeny's off in never-never land and I look like some terminally ill kid with a bad wig. This family has fallen apart." Loc. 113

"Don't ask your coworkers about their boyfriend, girlfriend, dog, cat, latest fad diet, thoughts on global warming, or anything else remotely personal. Because then you have to lie about your boyfriend, girlfriend, dog, cat, latest fad diet, and thoughts on global warming and that really sucks." Loc. 846

He kisses me lightly on the lips. "Do you have to go home now or can you stay out a while?" At this moment, I can't even remember what my fake name is. Loc. 1571

The Monster Within (Mounting Darkness #1) by Lola Rayne

Series: Mounting Darkness #1
Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy Romance
Publication Date: October 2nd 2012
Format: Mobi submitted by author for review
Rating: 4 Stars

Synopsis:
Sometimes the monster that haunted you as a child truly is real...

All it took was one phone call to bring Nicole Jones' life crumbling down around her. Now a nightmare she thought she'd left in her past is back, and he's not exactly bringing her candy and flowers. While fleeing, in a non-terrified fashion, she meets a menacing man in a dark alley. Then promptly passes out at his feet.

Gideon Evans hasn't exactly been having the best run of luck, but all that changes when a buxom little blond collapses right in front of him. Or at least he thinks it has. It doesn’t take him long to realize that bombshell is an appropriate description for more than just her looks. Now he's facing several problems, including a surprising enemy, his own dark past, and a rather inconvenient case of lust.

Can they work together to battle the nightmare that's chasing them? Or will they succumb to the monster within?

I wouldn't say I am a huge fan of Paranormal Romance but I do enjoy a good story with some crazy characters and sexy situations. Lola Rayne definitely brings both to the table in this short yet steamy novella. This story starts off with Nicole Jones doing her everyday job of working at a high end Fine Goods store working the reception desk. All seems fine until she gets a call from someone she thought was dead. She doesn't know whether to shit or go blind.. well actually she barfs on herself and runs off leaving the store behind not even locking it in her haste to get away from that voice. She is starting to panic hardcore and her vision is getting spotty when she sees a big man in dark clothing approaching and wigs out even more until she realizes it's not who she is running from but the stress of the "Freak Out" is too much and she passes out. When she wakes up she is BUTT ASS NAKED in a strange bed, in a strange building with a man she doesn't know but is oddly attracted to. Enter Gideon. A big oaf with a fucked up honker and not really drop dead gorgeous but you wouldn't kick him outta bed either with his broad shoulders and warm brown eyes. She manages to pull herself out of her lust filled thoughts of this strange man and cleans herself up in the bathroom where she sneaks in a phone call for help.

When she comes out from the bathroom freshly showered she finds out why she ended up in Gideons apartment naked. They end up in a heated moment when his door bursts open and her help comes busting in the door. She assures her friends she is fine and tries to get them to leave but they don't want to leave her with Gideon, fearing for her safety. When she calls forth her power she proves to them she is fine and forces them to go. Gideon explains how he was changed into a "Beast" and shows her a picture of the man who created him to be the way he is and Nicole recognizes him as the man she had been running from. They gather his friends and hers and make out a plan to try and bring down this man known as Slaine. She explains how she thought she killed him years ago and has tried to start her life over not using her magic. They are given amulets to wear to protect them from his power but when Gideon loses his in the heat of passion with Nicole he becomes a tool used by Slaine to kill Nicole. The entire time Gideon is being treated to mental images of of Nicole's torture and can do nothing to stop it, while Nicole and Slaine are in a fierce battle using their powers. Nicole digs deeper inside herself than she ever has and calls forth a tremendous power she didn't know she had and sends Slaine flying out of the window four stories to his death but he once again proves he can't be killed as easily as thought.

This was a pretty intense little novella for me. It almost had an X-men sort of feel to it in the way the character's "power" was described. Gideon was a "beast" but not in the change into a werewolf sense, and Nicole could channel Fire and Wind almost like Storm. I love the X-men series so this was right up my alley in terms of story line and paranormal aspect. The story itself was well written to be so short and I am hoping there will be another one so we can find out what happens with this dick head Slaine. Seeing a small snippet from his perspective in this book was both sick and exciting. He has a serious attachment to Nicole having snatched her as a young child and when she was older the bitch tried to make her his lover. EW! Sounds like someone has a pedophile fetish LOL!

As for Gideon, well he isn't how most male characters are described. Strong jaw, chiseled handsome features, NO! Gideon is just average, with a sort of Craggy face a bent up honker but his personality and the way he cares for Nicole is what makes him special. From the moment he finds her passed out he is attentive and gentle seeing her as his mate. I loved his internal dialogue with himself when he ends up at her apartment and sees it's a damn mess. It's like that episode of Friends when Ross dates the messy girl and freaks out when his hand touches something nasty LOL! Love that show!

Nicole was such a strong character and I really loved how fierce she was. This girl lost her family at a young age and was held prisoner by a madman and still managed to survive growing up with him. When she was old enough for him to look at her in a different light she didn't become the victim but she gathered strength to actually try to kill him. That shit takes guts and I admired her for that as well as managing to start fresh with her life and move on. To be such a short read there was plenty of character development and dialogue to fill you in on some story aspects. The only thing I didn't understand is exactly what Slaine did to transform Gideon into the beast he became. Hopefully if there is another book after this we will get a little more info on Gideon's back story.

The Monster Within was a great little short novella packed with action, laughs and some amazing steamy scenes between the main characters that will make you lick your lips and want more!

So either the man had a shamefully tiny penis, had been  extraordinarily gentle, or hadn't actually assaulted her. Loc. 217

"You shouldn't taunt the beast. That gets nice little girls like you eaten all up." Loc. 460

"If I can't play with the toys I want, I don't want to play at all." she whipsered in a sultry tone. Loc. 1141

So when Untouchable ended we learned that the new guy Evan Lewis was really Micah Gavereen, the sexy, Italian mob hit man sent to kill Leese. This book picks up where Untouchable left off, with Leese and Micah planning a wedding after he had gotten out of the mob to be with her. I KNOW! Shocker right? I was so happy they fought so hard to be together and overcame the obstacles in the first book. The wedding goes off without a hitch and Leese and Micah spend a very steamy honeymoon exploring each other. Things get so intense between them that Micah has to give her CPR because she actually stops breathing! Talk about hot, that shit had ME holding my breath too! Everything seems to be going so well between these two and they are so much in love that when Leese is briefly kidnapped yet again by the mob I almost held out hope that things would be OK. But this author knows how to keep your emotions in a constant state of FUCKED! Leese is confronted by Micah's old boss D'Angelo and he gives her no choice but to leave Micah so he can have him back. Leese resists at first But when he threatens everything she loves, she decides it would be better for everyone if she did leave. She calls Ryan and explains everything to him and he helps her get away, making it look like she ran off with him. Micah doesn't believe she would just leave and chases her down but she does such a great job hiding that after a while he does exactly what D'Angelo wants him to do. He goes back to being the best hit man in the mob.

Months go by with Leese and Ryan living together in his home state of Colorado and the lines between friends and lovers is starting to blur. Leese is bound to honor her commitment to Micah even though their marriage has since been annulled. While in Colorado Leese is approached one day by a mystery man from L.A. who wants her to be in a televised singing competition that is about to begin filming. When she realizes she might be able to vocally sing her apology to Micah in front of the world she agrees and so begins the next leg of the drama. Week after week Leese sings her heart out in hopes that Micah will hear her and every song choice is picked for that reason alone. When Micah shows up after one of her performances she wants nothing more than to throw herself into his arms and be with him again but her promise to keep him safe from D'Angelo sends her running and Micah is crushed yet again. He is determined to get her back and follows her home but he realizes that something is wrong with him and chalks it up to D'Angelo putting something into his wine from his lunch meeting that day. When Micah confronts Leese at her home he does something violent and Unforgivable that just might end their beautiful love for good.

This book had me in so many knots just remembering all these things is causing my heart rate to pick up speed. I am in love with this series despite the angst and depth of emotion it has drawn out of me. This book is a beautiful blend of Suspense, Drama and Romance. The love story between Leese and Micah is amazing and at times makes you feel on top of the world and other times takes you to the depths of the sea. I have to say that Leese drove me completely fucking crazy in this book. Her relationship with Ryan made me want to tear small kittens in half. I swear my neighbors are probably pissed off at me for stomping and screaming throughout the whole two days I spent reading this. I literally had to fight the urge to hurl my laptop across the room! While Leese is on the run from Micah she gets way to close to Ryan for my taste. Leese and Micah are one of those couples that you root for constantly and you hate anyone who tries to get in the way. What I did love about her is that no matter what happened with Ryan she knew without a doubt that Micah was who she was supposed to be with.

Micah Gavereen is one of my absolute favorite book Boyfriends. Just saying his name makes me giddy just knowing the things this man can do! I loved watching him teach Leese  how to have hot SEX! I swear this guy could make the polar ice caps melt!  I seriously love him so much I have a hard time with him not being real. In book one he was the torn conflicted hit man who despite his better judgement fell in love with his mark. He had every intention of killing her even though he loved her and seeing him struggle was painful yet beautiful. In this book he was the loving, attentive and hot husband to Leese until that bitch lost her mind! Seeing him so devastated by her abandonment was brutal because you fall so hard for him. Even when he goes back into the mob you can't help but love him, especially when he makes a crucial mistake that ends up being a HUGE catalyst in the story I still loved him.

When everything comes around full circle Micah learns exactly what sends Leese running and handles things himself which in turn sets off a ripple effect that is felt well into the next book. I can't praise this series enough because it's been WEEKS since I read them and I STILL can't stop thinking about it. There is a specific moment in this book that involves a Breaking Benjamin song..

that made me stop and listen to it and I'm glad I did because the lyrics are so hauntingly accurate for the situation and will burn itself into your gut so when you hear it again you will only think of that moment. I loved that about this book. It was so gripping and emotional that a SONG can make me feel those emotions all over again. Lindsay Delagair has become one of my top favorite authors and has done such a good job with this series especially being a new author. I hope you give these books a try because you really need a guy like Micah on your boyfriend list!
