Book #1 Synopsis:

Ava Michaels used to think she was special.

As a child, she fantasized about having magical powers . . . making things happen. But Ava grew up and eventually accepted the fact that her childish dreams were just that, and maybe a normal life wasn't so bad after all.

Now a young college student, Ava meets Caleb Foster, a brilliant and mysterious man who’s supposed to help her pass Physics, but in reality has another mission in mind. What he shows Ava challenges her view of the world, shaking it to its very core.

Because Caleb isn't quite what he seems. In fact, he's not entirely human, and he's not the only one.

Together, the duo faces a threat from an ancient race bound to protect humans, but only after protecting their own secrets—secrets they fear Ava may expose. Fighting to survive, Ava soon learns she's not actually normal . . . she's not even just special.

She's a little bit more.

Blog Tour: Excerpt + Giveaway Fate and Fury (Grey Wolves #6) by Quinn Loftis

Series: Grey Wolves #6
Genere: YA Paranormal
Publication Date: March 15th 2013

Synopsis:

The last few days have been the darkest of Sally’s life.  After experiencing the joy of finding her mate, she now suffers the pain of losing everything she holds dear. Both the Romanian and Serbian packs have been captured, ripping Sally’s soul mate away from her almost as soon as she had found him. Her best friend and the emotional glue that usually holds Sally together, Jacque Pierce, lies writhing in a restless coma, having been put down by Desdemona’s dark magic. Jennifer Adams, the unshakable one, has revealed to her friends and her mate that she is pregnant, but the Fates have marked her unborn baby for death.  Though she rails against the darkness, deep inside Jen knows that Decebel’s baby must die as payment for her own life, and the knowledge is tearing her soul to pieces. Cypher, King of the Warlocks, has claimed Jacque’s mother as his mate and agreed to help Desdemona open a door that would release a horde of demons from beyond the Veil.

Though her world is crashing down around her, Sally holds out hope.  The Great Luna is not sitting idly by.  She has commanded the Fey council to call upon the packs—all of them.  And though Cypher looks for a way to open the Veil for Desdemona, he struggles to protect Lilly and the wolves at the same time.  Peri, the ever-courageous High Fae, and a contingent of the remaining females of the Romanian and Serbian packs, push on through the rough Carpathian Mountains. Though they are bound to the human realm, they continue to search for a way to cross over to the land of the Fey. Meanwhile, in reluctant obedience to the Great Luna, the Fey council sends representatives to the far corners of the globe, meeting with the pack Alphas.  The Fey must convince the Alphas of every pack to lay aside their petty territorial squabbles and battles of dominance. If they refuse, both the humans and the supernatural races will fall at Mona’s feet.

Sally holds to a shred of hope. Though Vasile, Decebel, and their pack mates endure the torture of the In-Between, living their worst nightmares over and over, Sally holds. Though she knows that it is only a matter of time before their wolves take over, she holds. Sally knows that if the males die, then so too will their mates who have performed the Blood Rites, including her best friends Jen and Jacque.  Yet she holds. If the males lose themselves to their wolves and turn feral, so too do their mates.  Still she holds. Though Vasile, the strongest Alpha in their history to unite the wolves, is lost beyond the Veil, Sally holds.  Though Decebel, the only other wolf besides Vaile strong enough to unite the packs, suffers beyond the Veil, Sally will hold.  No one is left to unite their race, and defeat Desdemona. Yet Sally still holds.  She holds out hope that the Great Luna will not abandon them, cannot abandon them.  Throughout the centuries, the Great Luna has always provided a gypsy healer to the packs, especially in times of great need. Now Sally is that healer. Sally fears what role she has to play in the defeat of Desdemona, but she will play it.  Though heaven and hell unite against her, she WILL play it.

For too long the supernatural races have lived in separation, warring amongst themselves, allowing trivial power plays and selfish disputes to keep them from uniting. That separation has made them weak. Now, being summoned as a collective force to the same land, will they come?  Will they come in numbers greater than have been seen in centuries? Will they destroy each other and save Mona the trouble, or will they finally unite and fight as one?

Excerpt:

Jen looked down at the dirt where she had been tracing with her finger and her eyes filled with tears as she saw she had drawn the markings that covered Decebel’s skin.
She turned away from the drawing to face Jacque and took her hand. She held it between her own, rubbing it, probably more for her comfort than Jacque’s. She looked at her red headed friend and her heart ached to see her in such a helpless state. She stared pushing her will at Jacque as if that would be enough to make her open her eyes. If Fane were here he would be going crazy; but he wasn’t.

None of their mates were, and for the first time she felt alone. She needed Decebel, no matter how much it bothered her to need him, she did. She needed his strength and his comfort. She needed his brooding presence so that she would have someone to be sarcastic with and know he would be able to take it. She needed to hear him tell her she would be okay, their baby would be okay. She needed him to tell her when she needed to shut the hell up, because as her fear rose so did her sarcasm and irritability and she knew none of the others needed that nor deserved it.

“Damn you Desdemona for taking him from me,” she muttered into the cold, dark night. Her eyes narrowed and she looked out into the forest, wishing that the witch would come walking out in all her evil glory. Jen never though she was capable of being cruel, but she decided then and there that she would peel the flesh from Desdemona’s writhing body while she still lived. Was she a little blood thirsty? Maybe, but then the witch had taken her mate, putting him in danger and causing him immeasurable suffering; for that alone she had signed her death warrant, not to mention all the other atrocities she had already committed in her long, meaningless life.

“Jacque where are you?” She asked her friend. “I want you to know that I will take care of you, always Jac. And I’m going to give you hell for lying there on your back while we do all the work.” Jen snorted out laughter to herself as she thought of the remark Jacque would give her to that comment.

Her heart sunk as she continued to watch the steady breathing of Jacque, but no other life was apparent in her. She wanted to run. She wanted to shed the human skin and let her wolf run free, howling at the pain that she felt for the loss of everything. Jen missed her parents and she smiled to herself thinking it was a feeling she had never thought to feel. But when she stood to lose something that she never imagined loosing, she admitted that she didn’t want to lose them, no matter how tense their relationship had always been.

She continued to sit staring into the night, a lone sentry guarding her friends. Part of her was eager to go to sleep hoping to hear from her mate again, but another part of her dreaded hearing the desperation in his usually calm, secure voice. He needed her just as badly as she needed him and here she sat unable to do a damn thing for him. She growled in frustration and gradually all the ugliness of her reality set in and took root in her heart. She bowed her head and closed her eyes giving into the monster of defeat, if only for a little while, she would let herself be weak, let herself fall apart while there was no one to watch.

Review: Flukes - Nichole Chase

Synopsis:

Meena has a secret guarded closely by her family—a secret as dangerous as the sea, and buried just as deep. When court appointed community service workers are assigned to Flukes, the family-owned animal sanctuary, everyone is on high alert. It doesn’t help that Meena finds herself attracted to sexy-as-sin Blake Weathering, one of the new workers. If he wasn’t so distracting, she might be able to land Flukes a much-needed cruise line contract.
Blake Weathering, the first in his family to attend public school, has developed a tough image. Unfortunately it lands him in trouble. Now banned from his high school graduation ceremony, getting his diploma is dependent upon a community service gig cleaning fish crap. No diploma, no trust fund fortune—and no way to escape his overbearing father. The last thing he needs is the distraction of a mysterious girl with teal eyes who pulls at his heart strings.

When Blake discovers Meena’s secret, they are both thrown into a desperate search for information about her past. Two worlds pull them in opposite directions, and they will have to fight to hold onto all that really matters.

           Hootie Says:

I just FLUKED in my pants!

I love being a book blogger!

Thank God for ARC's! This was such an

interesting story I couldn't stop reading!! Who knew

Mermaids were cool as shit! I mean we all loved The

Little Mermaid when we were kids right?

So Flukes starts out with Meena being discovered by a husband and wife who can't have kids, so they decided to keep her and raise her as human. She grows up helping out on their island sanctuary that rescues hurt animals. This sanctuary is also used as a work release kind of program that employs "misfits" in society. When Hottie Mchot Hot Blake rolls up on his Motorcycle Meena can't help but think he is fine! That is until he starts bad mouthing her beloved home and sanctuary!

Meena instantly starts to dislike him, or so she thinks! As they work together her dad starts to push her towards him more and more. They start to realize something is happening between them that neither can explain. Meena comes face to face with something far worse than she ever thought existed and two other mermaids roll up on the scene and bring the dramz!

I was so blown away by this book! I haven't read too many mermaid stories but this was one of my ultimate favorites! The story was interesting and kept you hooked until the last page! I know I say that about every book I read but I can't help it because when a book is good, there is nothing that can drag me away! It was so cool to see how Meena was able to go from land to water. Speaking of water this book had some really steamy moments!

I was surprised it got so intense, I wasn't upset AT ALL! I was just surprised! So obviously shit gets real between Meena and Blake. They are drawn to each other and can't help but take things to the next level! That was some hotness right there! I would recommend the book on the story alone but the saucy parts make it that much more enjoyable!!! Most people know I have no love life of my own so when I can live vicariously through a character that is a bonus! My favorite scene for (obvious reasons) is the midnight swim Blake and Meena take.

If you don't like a little spice in your romance then I don't think you are really human! HOLY SHIT! You could be a zombie!! So you might want to go have that checked out! Overall this was a kick ass book and I loved it very, very much! The end was a little abrupt but doesn't really matter because it was such a good ending!

Expected Publication : Early 2013

EXCERPT:

One
Someone was speaking. No, he was yelling. It sounded angry, but my body refused to cooperate with my commands to open my eyes and be nosy. I tried to move my arms and again, there was no help from my limbs. It didn't strike me as odd until then.
I heard, "All I'm saying is that you need to be on time from now on." Then a slammed door startled me. I felt my lungs suck in breath that burned and hissed unlike anything I'd ever felt before. It was as if my lungs no longer performed that function and were protesting.
Then I heard a noise, a gaspy sound, and my cheek was touched by warm fingers. "Emma?" I tried to pry my eyes and felt the glue that seemed to hold them hostage begin to let go. "Emma?"
Who was Emma? I felt the first sliver of light and tried to lift my arm to shield myself, but it wouldn't budge. Whoever was in the room with me must've seen me squint, because the light was doused almost immediately to a soft glow. My eyelids fluttered without strength. I tried to focus on the boy before me. Or maybe he was a man. He was somewhere in between. I didn't know who he was, but he seemed shocked that I was looking up at him.
"Emma, just hold on. I'm your physical therapist and you're in the hospital. Your…" he looked back toward the door, "parents aren't here right now, but we'll call them. Don't worry."
I looked quizzically at him. What was he was going on and on about? That was when I saw the tubes on my chest connecting my face to the monitors. The beeping felt like a knife through my brain. I looked at the stranger's hazel eyes and pleaded with him to explain.
He licked his lips and said softly, "Emma, you were in an accident. You've been in a coma. They weren't sure if…you'd wake up or not."
Of everything he just said, the only thing I could think was, 'Who's Emma?'

She loves writing, reading, and crocheting. Her favorite holiday is Christmas, favorite book(s) is Pride and Prejudice, The Alpha and Omega Series by Patricia Briggs, and the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling. She loves to be silly and have fun, loves music and thinks there is no greater sound in the world than that of her little boy's laughter.

Book Blurb :
Though the Serbian pack has been brought to heel thanks to the downfall of their Alpha, the war is far from over.
Desdemona, a witch of unfathomable power, has escaped the wolves’ wrath, but she will not go quietly into the night. She takes refuge in a place where even the smallest sliver of light does not dare to enter. Though she had to flee, she has not given up on the treasure she wishes to acquire. Her depravity knows no bounds; she's even willing to search for the one who can assist her in opening a Veil that has not been opened in millennia – with good reason: the danger is incalculable.

Meanwhile, there are major changes rippling through the Romanian Grey wolves. Decebel has become Alpha to the Serbian pack in an effort to begin to unite the Canis lupis species. Their numbers are dwindling in the wake of the shortage of true mates and lack of offspring. The wolves are beginning to lose faith and darkness seems to be crashing in on them from all sides. But the winds of change are blowing, changes that will alter the future of not only the Canis lupis, but of another ancient race as well.
Amidst all of this, Sally is continuing to come to terms with her relationship with the playful, charming, flirty, unbelievably handsome bartender – who happens to be a member of the Romanian pack.
If all that weren’t enough, the Fates have decided to pay a little visit to Jen. It’s time to collect. She cheated the Fates of a life, her life. Now they want what they are due. The problem? It’s more than Jen is willing to pay.
Yes, the war is indeed far from over. Bargains will be struck, declarations will be made, sacrifices will be given, love will be tested, and trust will be questioned as evil makes its stand against them all.

blurb

OPPOSITE ATTRACTION, book 3 in the Keller Family Series:

He likes to play the field, have a good time, and enjoyed friends with benefits. But when wild child Simone Pierpont comes into his life for the first time he considers settling down—until she abandons him.

Simone Pierpont fell in love. She hadn't meant to, but her best friend's brother-in-law had treated her, the Parisian oil heiress, with more compassion than she'd ever known.  What was she to do? So she left him stranded on a yacht in the French Rivera.

Now, cut off from her father's fortune, pregnant, and desperate to win Curtis's heat; Simone must prove to everyone she can hold down a job and take care of herself.  Curtis isn't sure the spoiled princess can change, but because of his caring nature he has a hard time turning her away.

However, all efforts might be for not when he learns about her pregnancy and she is forced to run back to her father. But Curtis will eventually understand and come for her—or so she hopes.

Excerpt

Caterers moved about the house and Curtis fixed himself a plate of fruit. He’d be happier in the kitchen he decided. The reception was depressing him.

When he lifted his head from the platters of food, he saw the reason it depressed him standing right in front of him.

“Hello, Curtis.”Simone Pierpont’s French accent stabbed right into his heart before he choked on the grape he’d just swallowed whole.

He coughed until he could breathe. Her eyes never wavered from him and he was sure they had bored a hole right through him.

“Simone.I didn’t expect you here.”

She twisted her fingers together and smiled nervously.“I’ve been out of town.”

Didn’t he know that? He’d tried for the past two months to find her.Even his brother-in-law, Zach, who she claimed was her very dearest friend, hadn’t known where to find her.

“You’re looking well.”He wasn’t sure what else to say. He’d been dumped by women before, but it had never hurt like this one did. Oh, she’d had him fooled. Yes, he thought there’d been a chance for something real. He’d thought it was love.

But he had to acknowledge that there were women in the world who appreciated the art of seduction and fast steamy love affairs without stings just as men did. He just never thought he’d be the man who was used and disposed of.

Damn her anyway, he thought.

She took a step toward himand then stopped just short of reaching him.Her knuckles were white now and her nervousness wasn’t helping him keep calm.

Simone bit down on her lip then shifted her blue eyes to his. “I would have called…”

“Listen,” he set down his plate.“You don’t owe me any explanations.Zach and Regan set us up to share the evening together so we wouldn’t be alone. They didn’t tell us to,” he lowered his voice, “screw like rabbits and run off to your yacht in the French Riviera. So we had a good time.Really, who thought much of it?”He had and he fought his eyes to make sure she didn’t know how much he’d thought of it.

“Right. It was just sex.I was hoping you would understand that.”

“Got it.”He picked up his plate.“Well I think I’ll go see how the party is going.See ya‘round.”

That wasn’t exactly how Simone had hoped that would go.She untangled her fingers realizing they were almost numb now.

She deserved him to treat her like that. She’d been very forthcoming with him, over too much champagne on her yacht, that she’d bedded many men.Why she felt he needed to know that she wasn’t sure. She’d left out the hefty part of the tale though. Most of those men had been in her bed while she tried to wrap her head around the fact that Zachary Benson had never seen her as more than a sister or dear friend.

Lucky for her, she loved him the same. She was glad he and Regan had found each other and now had a family. But that hadn’t changed her view on herself.Simone Pierpont longed for what Zach now had.Love, marriage, and a family. One piece didn’t really fit without the other.

She sucked in a breath.Had she not made such an ass out of herself in front of Curtis and then run off without a word, stranding him on the Rivera to find his own way home, perhaps she’d have just that.

Simone ran her hands over the slim satin line of her dress, lingering only a moment on her jittery stomach.

Well, she thought, at least she’d have some of what Zach had.

So do you believe opposites attract? Tell me in the comments and you could WIN a $10 Amazon gift card. We will choose one winner from the comments.

Cain and Lillian

"Are we going to be ok?" she asked in a whisper.
I wanted to just say Yes, I was just too tired to not be honest. "I don't know."

"This is it, isn't it? This is the beginning of the end. Everything that happens from now on is going to be life or death, stay or go, win or lose."

"Uhuh," I answered and rubbed my chin on her head. "It looks that way."

"So…this is our last night of peace? And privacy?" she said with a funny tone.

I frowned. "Yeah, guess so."

She lifted up to lean over me. She bit her lip and gave me this fluttery eyelid look and…holy… I gulped as the meaning of her actions hit me. I didn't gulp with fear, but with finally!

"Well, you are my wife now," I said, my smirk ear to ear.

"I am," she agreed and kissed my chin. "Make me forget that the world's ending, Cain."

Review of While it Lasts by Abbi Glines

It's not often that I start reading a book and worry every time I turn the page that I'm getting closer to the end. I did not want this story to end. It started with tears and ended with tears. But Eva and Cage had my heart on every page. Everything about this book was perfect. The F-bombs and hot descriptions of intimate moments were just right. I had a clear picture of the characters in my mind because of the authors choice of colorful language. Ha! 'colorful language'. I really don't have adequate words to say how much I love this book.

Now I'm going to google pictures of hot guys with nipple piercings. Don't judge ;)

Be sure to check out Because of Low:
Cage's story starts in Abbi Gline's book titled Because of Low. He's a bad boy with the reputation of being a man whore. But his loyalty and devotion to his best friend Willow prove he has a heart of gold hiding behind the walls and reputation he has built. Because of Low is a Must Read. It's on sale now.

The Premonition Series

Inescapable Synopsis:

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me--my freshman year of college. I had been hoping that once I had arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that I've been having would go away. It hasn't.

I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I'm grounded...sane. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he is near, I feel an attraction to him--a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what you're thinking...that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would--if he liked me, but Reed acts as if I'm the worst thing that's ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But, get this, for some reason every time I turn around he's there, barging into my life.

What is the secret he is keeping from me? I'm hoping that it is anything but what I expect: that he is not exactly normal...and neither am I. So maybe Crestwood won't be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of me. I have been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

My Take:

No worries, I won't be giving spoilers.  I was so excited reading this series. Every book kept getting better and better. I loved not knowing where the story would take me. I fell in love with Evie and Reed.  But Reed is not the only guy worthy of my heart in this series. The fact that the author was able to write the story so that I fell for several lead guys does not mean I'm a ho but that she has a gift for writing swoon worthy men. But make no mistake, I am positively Team Reed.

I loved these books so much I had to read them all before I could stop to write a review. Then I had to
send them to HOOTIE because I wanted her to read the ASAP.  Now my sister is reading them too. It's your turn, so get to it. I can't wait to hear what Hootie thinks.
