BLURB:
Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger
brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds— and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

EXCERPT:
The song breaks for a guitar solo, and I count the seconds, knowing that she’s going to slip away the moment everyone in here begins to clap. I won’t ask her to dance again. I won’t torture myself or push my luck. But I’ll remember this. As bad of an idea as it is, I’m glad I did it. So many painful memories woven into this place, I needed this one good one. It might just be the best memory I have out of everything in my life. I feel her shift in my arms, and when I pull away slightly, Maddy’s chin pushes into the center of my chest, her eyes blinking slowly while she looks up at me. Two shots and a beer are about to talk to me right now. I smile softly and nod.

“That was a much better dance,” she says.

I chuckle, tilting my head back to laugh before bringing it forward slowly, resting my brow against hers. My eyes look down at the curve of her lips, lower at the line of her jaw, and even lower at the swell of her breast under the soft black cotton of her dress. A heavy breath escapes
me.

“I make you nervous?” she asks.

I don’t answer right away, instead closing my eyes and swallowing again. I don’t even care if she can feel it. I drag my hands up her body to her neck until I’m cradling her head in my palms, my fingertips flirting with her hair along her neck and my thumbs caressing her jawline.

“That’s what you said…before. You said you didn’t dance well because I make you nervous,” she says, her words coming out slow and sleepy.
My mouth smiles against the top of her head, and I give in, opening it enough to press a kiss against her, hoping only the strangers are our witness.
“Yes, Maddy. That’s right,” I say. “You make me incredibly nervous.”

Book Review: Missing Dixie by Caisey Quinn

HAPPY RELEASE DAY!!!! I'm so excited to share my review of Caisey Quinn's new release MISSING DIXIE. You will love the final book in the Neon Dreams series.

Title: Missing Dixie
Author: Caisey Quinn
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 27, 2015

Synopsis

Fighting for redemption…

I’ve lived most of my life in darkness, beneath the shadows of secrets and addictions. The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt the only girl I’d ever loved—the one who brought me into the light. In my entire life I’d made one promise—a promise I’d intended to keep. I’ve broken that promise and now I have to live with the fallout. Dixie Lark hates me, and I have to tell her that I love her. I also have to tell her a truth that might destroy us forever.

Can she love me even if she can’t forgive me?

Learning to move on…

Gavin Garrison broke his promise to my brother and he broke my heart in the process. I may never love anyone the way I’ve loved him, but at least I won’t spend my life wondering what if. We had our one night and he walked away. I’m finally beginning to move on when my brother’s wedding and a battle of the bands brings us back together.

Our band is getting a second chance, but I don’t know if I can give him one. How do you hand your heart back to the person who set it on fire once already?
 Globug's Review
I can't say I was patiently waiting for Gavin and Dixie's story because patience is not one of my virtues. I knew it was likely to be nausea inducing and it was. You know that sore feeling you get in your throat when you're trying really hard not to cry out loud? Well I felt that too. It just attests to how brilliant Quinn is.

"Wait for me, Bluebird." That's what Gavin asked of Dixie in Leaving Amarillo. Now months later with no word from him, Dixie is shocked and broken when she discovers Gavin not only didn't go on tour with her brother but has been in town the whole time. His plan was to resolve his issues so he could be the man Dixie needed though he believed he could never be the man she deserved. I was dying the whole time with worry over discovering that either of them had slept with someone else while they were apart. Of course I'm not going to tell you if they did or not.

I wasn't expecting the awesomeness Quinn brought to Dixie's story. Since the band broke up she's had the chance to figure out who she really wanted to be. She learned she could be self-dependent and would never let men dictate her life and emotions. I loved the way Quinn brought music back into Dixie's life. Dixie starts her own business of giving music lessons to less fortunate kids and her favorite student Liam had my heart bursting. I swear the addition of this character is one of my favorite parts of the series. I love that Gavin explains to Liam why he calls Dixie "bluebird". The insight into Gavin's childhood and the similarities between him and Liam just tore me up.

Gavin and Dixie have some really painful moments together. No joke, it's going to rip your heart apart. It only makes the reward that much sweeter when love overcomes the pain and hurt and heals hearts so that happily ever after is possible. Caisey Quinn gives all the feels with Missing Dixie and it's a series I will revisit again and again.

He’s the player of all players…

Newly broke girl Alexandria Asher just wants to live a normal life. After her parents are sent to prison on embezzlement charges, she enrolls in college under her mother’s maiden name and tries her best to pretend she’s someone else.

Tristan Prescott is everything Alex is trying to avoid. A seemingly egotistical, lazy, rich jerk, she dumps her beer on his head when he comes on to her one night at a party. This only spurs Tristan into action. He loves nothing more than a challenge. And the beautiful Alex is exactly the type of challenge that intrigues him.

Despite her reluctance, Alex finds herself quickly involved with Tristan. Underneath that playboy exterior is a good guy, a sweet and sexy guy who she is undoubtedly falling for. What they both don’t realize is the actions of Alex’s parents are the reason for so much tragedy in Tristan’s family. And when Tristan discovers who Alex and her family really is, can he forgive and forget?

Globug's Review

Tristan Prescott is the King of one and done. Now that his two best friends are in relationships his game is a little off. It's not really his skills as a player that are off though, he just happens to pick the wrong girl to go after. Alexandria shoots him down and it was so entertaining. His brand of flirting is so crude and vulgar. It's pretty sad that it usually works for him.

Slow Play had a pretty large list of supporting characters. I haven't read the first two books in the series but I intend to remedy that quickly. I loved all of the supporting characters. The instant attraction between Alex and Tristan is crazy hot. Tristan proves to be more than just a cocky asshole everyone expects him to be but it's because Alex brings out the best in him though he doesn't realize it. He's actually really smart as well. Once he feels the connection to Alex and the need to claim her he becomes monogamous and commited without even meaning to. He finally found the girl that completes him. The only problem is that her history is directly related to why he's been broken in the first place.

It doesn't come as a surprise that their histories once intersected without their knowledge. It even mentions it in the synopsis but there is still a twist I wasn't expecting. The blame game can be so damaging and it was painful to read. I have to say again how much I loved the supporting characters. They play a huge role in giving this story the HEA I was hoping for. Murphy can add me to her list of fans.
