Blog Tour: Major Misconduct {Review & Giveaway}

MAJOR MISCONDUCT
Aces Hockey #1
Kelly Jamieson
Releasing Oct 13th, 2015
Loveswept

In Kelly Jamieson’s seductive new Chicago Aces romance—perfect for readers of Sawyer Bennett and Toni Aleo—a fun-loving free spirit tempts an uptight hockey star into opening himself up to love.

As the captain of the Chicago Aces, Marc Dupuis is all business. The apartment he shares with his teammate and best friend, Duncan, is a refuge from the pressures of fame. But when the sexiest woman he’s ever seen interrupts his early morning coffee wearing only a skimpy cami and matching panties, Marc can’t exactly say he minds. Their chemistry is off the charts. Unfortunately, this girl’s no random puck bunny. She’s Duncan’s little sister—and she’s moving in.

Lovey Armstrong could stare at Marc’s chiseled abs and listen to his French-Canadian accent all day. She just has no idea what’s going on inside his head: When he’s not charming her pants off, Marc makes a Zamboni machine seem warm and cuddly. Lovey knows the team’s bro code says no messing with sisters, but all these mixed messages are hard on a girl’s self-esteem—especially since she’s finally getting her new life together in Chicago. She decides he’s worth another shot . . . because if anyone can melt the ice around Marc’s heart, it’s Lovey.

Globug's Review

This is the first book I've read by author Kelly Jamieson. I'm thrilled to say it won't be the last. I loved Major Misconduct.

Marc Dupuis walks into his living room wearing only his underwear to find his roommate's little sister looking gorgeous and tempting.  Duncan had no idea Lovey was going to show up hoping to temporarily move in to his bachelor pad but here she is with big plans to move to Chicago.  He can't just turn her away and she's not too quick to share exactly what her real plans are. To Duncan it's just one more example of how flighty his little sister can be. Marc doesn't mind the intrusion at all.

Duncan makes it clear to Marc and their other teammates that Lovey is off limits. Lovey rejects the memo and sets her sights on Marc. She broke up with her last boyfriend when he started getting too serious so she's only looking for a good time. Her chemistry with Marc is undeniable and off the charts. Marc is the kind of guy that prides himself on always being in control. His last girlfriend kicked him to the curb saying he wasn't romantic enough. He's not looking to jump into a relationship but Lovey is quickly working her way under his skin, testing his resolve to stay away from her. I loved that they both doubted they had anything to offer the other.

Once they start to spend more time together they open up to each other about the concerns stressing them. They become each others refuge and confidant. The first time they completely give into desire was incredibly sexy. Marc is French-Canadian and it was a huge turn on for Lovey, and me, when he speaks french to her during their intimate moments. I even Google searched everything he said in French as I was reading. Can't believe his ex-girlfriend said he wasn't romantic. Lovey has a sweet and funny personality that lightens Marc's intensity. Marc realizes that Duncan is all wrong about Lovey being flighty. She's actually very smart and driven with ambition to start her own business. Sadly Marc also learns the hard way the she also happens to be insecure and afraid to fail making her reluctant to commit to anything.

Marc fell hard and fast and it scared Lovey. It broke my heart when she broke his. I loved the way Duncan comes in and chastises Lovey for the way she treated Marc. I fell even harder for Marc when he's quick to forgive her. Major Misconduct has made on my list of favorites for 2015. Marc has made my list of favorite book-boyfriends. Now I need to pick another book by Kelly Jamieson to read. I really enjoyed her writing.

Marc chuckled all the way to the Land Rover dealership, annoying the hell out of his teammate and roommate.
“What the fuck is so amusing?” Army snarled.
“If she wasn’t your sister, I’d call you pussy-whipped.”
“Fuck off.”
Marc laughed outright. “Just never seen you so outclassed, dude.”
“Whatever.”
Marc smirked.
“What am I supposed to do?” Army demanded. “Turn her out onto the streets of Chicago?”
“Of course not. And she knew that.”
“She didn’t even tell me she was coming.” Duncan rubbed his forehead. “Christ. She quit her job. Just when she seemed to be settling down. Last I heard, she had a pretty serious boyfriend too. Guess that’s over.”
A boyfriend? Not fucking likely, the way she’d been looking at him. Marc shot Army a sideways glance as he drove. “She does this often?”
“Eh. She quits. She gets fired. She flits from one job to another like a fucking hummingbird. One boyfriend to another. This guy she was seeing actually lasted more than a few dates. Now all of a sudden she wants to move to Chicago. Jesus.”
“She’s young.”
“She’s not that young. She’s twenty-four. Only three years younger than us. She needs to settle down.”
Marc nodded. “Yeah, but think, man, we were on our own when we were teenagers, basically. We were playing and living in an adult world before we could even drink legally. Pro hockey makes you grow up fast.”
Army sighed. “Yeah. True. Heh. Especially you, Captain Codger.”
Marc rolled his eyes at the nickname. It didn’t bug him as much as it had at first. He knew the guys liked to jerk him around, but they did it with respect. And he’d earned the reputation of being serious and responsible, on the ice and off. That was him, and it was important to him to take his career and his responsibilities seriously.
Army shook his head. “I’ll let her stay for a while, but seriously, she’ll have to find her own place. Don’t worry.”
Marc shrugged. “I wasn’t worried.”
That wasn’t entirely true. Army’s little sister was smokin’ hot. At first Marc had thought his roommate had a hot chick visiting him and he’d been all Whoa, way to go, dude, but when he’d learned she was Army’s sister, he’d backpedaled fast. He couldn’t get out of there before she’d jumped up and rushed at him with a fucking dazzling smile, so goddamn gorgeous he couldn’t get his feet to move and could barely string two words together. Her smile was luminous, all white teeth and dimples and glowing face. Long, wavy red-gold hair gleamed in the sunlight and, fuck him, even though she’d been wearing clothes that covered her from chin to toes, her body was stellar—a soft blue sweater outlined high, firm tits and a small waist that curved into round hips. He couldn’t see her legs, but they were long, her snug black pants revealing slender thighs.
Shut it down, man.
She was Army’s sister and therefore waaaay the fuck off-limits.
And that was why he was maybe a little worried about her living with them. Just a smidgen worried. But hey. He was Captain Codger. He had no issues with self-control, self-discipline, or being responsible. He could easily ignore a hot babe living in the apartment with them. No problem. No problem at all.
Army’s phone pinged and he peered at the screen. “Great. An email from my mom warning me Lovey’s on her way. Thanks, Mom.” He shook his head as he tapped a reply. “She wants me to make sure Lovey’s okay in the big city. Jesus.”
Yeah, Lovey seemed like she was going to be okay.
They arrived at the dealership and while Army signed the paperwork, Marc wandered around looking at the vehicles, trying to ignore the attention from the staff, male and female. The receptionist approached him for an autograph.
“You’re my favorite player.” She let out a breathy laugh. “I watch all the games.”
“Yeah?” He obliged by scrawling his messy signature across the Land Rover pamphlet she held out, adding his jersey number beneath it. “You watch that last game against Philly?”
“Of course! You guys played great.”
He stuck his tongue into one cheek and nodded. “Thanks.” They’d sucked. They’d lost three-one, probably their worst game so far, another game added to their losing streak.
“D’you speak French?” Her eyes widened.
“Mais oui.” He grinned.
“That is soooo sexy.” She stared at him.
Câlisse. He resisted the urge to sigh and smiled instead. “Merci.”
“I love your accent.”
He wanted to frown. He barely had an accent. He’d been raised by a Francophone mother and Anglophone father, and although his education had been all in French growing up in Quebec, he spoke both languages fluently. Maybe there was a bit of an accent. Whatever.
“Hey, Armdog,” he called to his friend. “I’m gonna head out. Meet you at the Sin Bin?”
“Yeah. Be there soon.”

Kyon Ensin finally has what he’s always wanted: possession of Kricket Hollowell, the priestess who foresees the future. Together, their combined power will be unrivaled. Kricket, however, doesn’t crave the crown of Ethar—she has an unbreakable desire to live life on her own terms, a life that she desperately wants to share with her love, Trey Allairis.

As conspiracies rage in the war for Ethar, Kricket’s so-called allies want to use her as a spy. Even those held closest cannot be trusted—including Astrid, her sister, and Giffen, a member of a mysterious order with a hidden agenda. But Kricket’s resolve will not allow her to be used as anyone’s pawn, even as the Brotherhood sharpens its plans to cut out her heart.

As the destiny prophesied by her mother approaches, Kricket will backtrack through her fiery future to reshape it. For she knows one thing above all else: the only person she can truly count on is herself.

Globug's Review

"I don't understand" is what I'm feeling as I finish reading Darken The Stars. I was so anxious to read the final book in this series. I adore Kricket and Trey. I had full on hate for Kyon when the second book ended with him getting possession of Kricket. It killed me but I had high hopes that the author was just setting me up for an epic HEA for Trey and Kricket in Darken The Stars. That's not at all what I got.

By the 24% mark I started to become concerned because I was falling for Kyon right along with Kricket. It was the last thing I expected to happen. I was confused about half way through when Kricket seems to accept her developing relationship with Kyon. What the hell happened to her devotion to Trey. I started to think well maybe she's letting him go to protect him from the fate that she has seen for her future. I tried to put aside my growing disappointment in where the story was going. Kyon continues to grow on me and I hated to start routing for him.

There were a couple of times that I felt like the story flow jumped a little leaving out a detail that was needed for everything to make sense. I hated Kricket's father and Giffen and Kyon's father is real bastard as well. Trey doesn't actually have a very big role in this book at all. The little time that is spent with his character is disappointing because it doesn't feel like he puts Kricket as he priority even though it's what his heart truly wants. I loved the small bits we get of Jax and Wayra, two of my favorite supporting characters.

This series was so creative and I fell so in love with the leading characters that I can't help but to be disappointed with the way the series ended. I felt like too much was left unresolved and there were no winners of a happy ending. There was so much potential for this to be one of my favorite series if the ending had given me a little more happiness for Kricket. Lord knows her character had earned it.

I live in Michigan with my husband and our two sons. My family is very supportive of my writing. When I’m writing, they often bring me the take-out menu so that I can call and order them dinner. They listen patiently when I talk about my characters like they’re real. They rarely roll their eyes when I tell them I’ll only be a second while I finish writing a chapter…and then they take off their coats. They ask me how the story is going when I surface after living for hours in a world of my own making. They have learned to accept my “writing uniform” consisting of a slightly unflattering pink fleece jacket, t-shirt, and black yoga pants. And they smile at my nerdy bookishness whenever I try to explain urban fantasy to them. In short, they get me, so they are perfect and I am blessed. The Wicked Fall by Sawyer Bennett {Review}

Title: The Wicked Fall (The Wicked Horse series)
Author: Sawyer Benntt
Genre: Adult Erotic/Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 28, 2015

Never in your wildest dreams could you begin to imagine all the filthy and depraved things that go on inside The Wicked Horse. Step inside and Woolf Jennings will make every one of your dirty fantasies come true.

He’s covered in a facade of deception. An enticing blend of multi-millionaire and hot-as-hell Wyoming rancher, those that think they know Woolf Jennings admire his abilities to preside as CEO of his family’s cattle and oil empire. But only a privileged few truly understand what fuels the glitter of depravity in those gorgeous blue eyes. Only a few know he’s opened up a sinfully erotic and private sex club named The Wicked Horse right at the base of the beautiful Teton Mountain range.

Sweet Callie Hayes has returned home to Wyoming and is looking forward to starting her life over again. After a night of impetuosity, she’s managed to put herself right in Woolf’s line of sight… the man who she foolishly offered up her virginity to years ago and was flatly turned down.

Now Woolf is seeing that Callie is all grown up and has a kinky side to her that leaves him as confused as it does turned on. Worse yet, both Callie’s dirty desires and sweet heart are getting under his skin, and making Woolf question everything he’s ever believed about himself.

Globug's Review

When I heard Bennett was writing a new series I said "Hell yes! Sign me up!" When I started reading  Wicked Fall I was thrilled because I quickly realized I had already met the lead character Woolf. He is the younger brother of Tenn Jennings from Shaken, Not Stirred (Last Call #5). Now Tenn was sexy as hell but I was not prepared for how sexy and dirty Woolf turned out to be.

Woolf and Callie grew up in the same social circle. He was best friends with Callie's older brother Richard. Bro-Code says you don't mess with your best friends little sister but he damn sure wanted to. Callie had been crushing on Woolf for years. They find themselves together grieving the death of Richard and though Callie is prepared to give her heart and her virginity to Woolf, he's not willing to take it. He could never be good enough for her. Eleven years later and he still sees her as sweet and innocent and doubts she would ever accept his sexual proclivities especially after she catches her fiance cheating in a very kinky Dom/sub situation.

Seventy-two hours later and Callie is dancing on a bar for a wet t-shirt contest. She had no idea it was Woolf's bar. Neither are the same people they use to know. Their desire for each other is instantly off the charts. Callie is determined to discover her true-self and hopes that process includes getting a little wild with Woolf. Though it takes Woolf a minute to concede he is finally ready to claim the one that he let get away.

I may have failed to mention what Woolf's sexual proclivities were. Well let me tell ya, he is a dirty dirty boy. What started back in college as getting his kink-on has turned into a lifestyle and now a business venture with his best friend Bridger. The Wicked Horse is just a cover for their secret and members only exclusive sex club "The Silo". I could really relate to Callie when she discovers exactly what goes on in The Silo. Like her, I would be fascinated and a little frightened by BDSM lifestyle. The "New" Callie is dead set on learning more. They both have doubts about her being able to fit into the lifestyle but I loved that it's Woolf that can't accept her in that world. Maybe it's not the world that Woolf belongs in after all. I want to thank Bennett for not letting Woolf break Callie's heart in all the ways he had access to as the owner of a sex club. He has a heart of gold and I loved that he discovers his true self along with Callie as they fall in love.

Bridger plays huge roll in these two finding their HEA. He gives them both words of wisdom that had depth I wasn't expecting. It really makes me want to know what has made him the man he is. I love the lengths that Bridger has gone to and will go to for his best friend. His loyalty to Bridger made me reserve a piece of my heart just for him.

There was so much passion and heat. It wasn't the most erotic book I've read but it definitely gives a peek at a world I know little about and can't help being intrigued by. It's like when I'm driving by a car accident or watching a really gross video and just can't look away. Bennett brings so much heart to the story though that the extra heat is only a bonus not the focus. I have a feeling after reading the epilogue that the next book Wicked Lust is going to blow my panties off or at least require a clean up.

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett goes for a hat trick with the latest romance in a sexy series about cool-as-ice hockey players and the women heating up their lives.

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

Globug's Review

It just keeps getting better and better. I think Zack is my favorite Cold Fury player so far. You meet him in the first two books of the series but honestly the way the author writes each players story it really can be read as a stand alone. Not sure why you would but you will feel like you're getting the whole story even if you start with Zack.

Following the loss of his long-time girlfriend, Zack is not only trying to recover physically but his heart is in need of major damage repair. Sure he mourns the loss of the mother of his child but there are feelings of guilt that go beyond the tragic car accident. He has remained a caring and loving father to his young son Ben. His relationship with Ben is one of the most endearing qualities that made me fall in love with Zack. I swear I am a sucker for a single dad that makes it obvious that his child is his world. Now after four months Zack is physically able to get back on the ice he but has to make the huge transition of finding a nanny for his son.

Kate is adorable. I was excited about this character right away. She's quirky, silly and goofy but extremely smart as well. She makes up names to call Zack like "Petunia Peacock" or "Gooseberry Parfait" to help lighten his mood. Her home life was no fairytale but she is driven and has worked hard to pay her way through school to get her degree in child psycology. She has been a huge fan of Zack as a member of the Cold Fury Hockey team but now face to face she finds that he intimidates her like no man ever has. She may wear glasses but she is not blind to just how gorgeous he is. I love that she comes off a little ditsy but has a spine when she needs to put Zack in his place. She doesn't take his shit even though she's a little scared of him.

After seeing his sons instant connection with Kate, Zack accepts that she is the best choice as his nanny. Then the fun begins as these two get to know each other. Zack had been so numb since losing Gina and he was starving to feel again. Once he gets an unobstructed view of Kate without her baggy thrift store clothes and long beautiful hair hidden in a bun Zack is like a kid in the candy store wanting everything he sees. I love that once he realizes that she's tried to conceal her sexy beauty he wants to unravel the mystery of why she hides it. Kate's studies in psychology come in handy as she tries to help Zack and Ben move past their loss. Though common sense would tell her it would not be wise to get involved with a man that is still grieving, I love that she recognizes that she could be the person that's supposed to help him heal even if she gets hurt in the end. They are so perfect together. Their chemistry is off the charts when they begin to cross the boss/employee line.

Zack struggles with his guilt about his relationship with Gina and his fear of failing to be what Kate needs. He places all these boundaries on his relationship with Kate and then constantly crosses those boundaries. Kate follows his lead every time as long as he understands that if and when their sex only arrangement isn't enough that she will walk away. Hoping that won't happen doesn't mean it won't. Thanks to their supportive friends Kate and Zack (and Ben) find a HEA.

I had all the feels wills with Zack's story.  I experienced all of the moisture control situations. I mean that really has to tell ya how much I enjoyed this book. I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy Ryker, the next book in the series. So far the little taste we get of him in this book has me thirsty for more.

Review: For What It's Worth by Karey White

                        (ARC PROVIDED BY NET GALLEY)

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Twenty-four year-old, Abby Benson has dreams of owning her own wedding cake shop. An inheritance from her aunt gives her the ability to make those dreams come true. She hires Dane, a handsome contractor, to help her get the bakery up and running and soon they’re moving toward their own happy ending.

Unsure what to charge for her cakes, Abby has a crazy idea to let the customers decide what they think their cake is worth. This plan has its ups and downs, but the novelty of the idea makes her a local celebrity. When she is interviewed on television about the unusual idea, business booms and Abby has cake adventures she never dreamed possible. But as her fame grows, Abby is swept up in a whirlwind that threatens everything she values. With the challenges that face her, will she be able to determine what is worth the most?

Hootie Says:

Fat people who love cake HEAR ME! For What It's Worth was AH-MAH-ZING!

Not only do you get a really sweet, wholesome beautiful romance you also get a built in recipe book! HELLO! That right there should have you rushing straight to amazon! The story begins with Abby Benson getting an inheritance from her aunt Grace to finally live her dream and open her own wedding cake shop. Abby is completely scared and nervous about it but decides to put her fears aside. She contacts a contractor and gets the renovations on the house her aunt left her going to turn it into a bakery! When the contractor shows up it isn't some older guy she expected, but a totally gorgeous male specimen named Dane!

I am going to take a minute here to discuss male characters in books today. Lately I have read books where the guys are dominant, aggressive, sexually charged beasts. That begs the question, can a book be good if the male character isn't like that? I say YES! Case in point Dane! This character wasn't aggressive and he wasn't a gentle Ben type either. He was kind, sweet and romantic while at the same time being a strong man who knew what he wanted and how to treat his lady. He didn't have to slobber all over Abby for her to swoon and there were several swoon worthy moments in this book!

"What are you doing here?"

"I have to see my girl sometime"

OH MY GOODNESS YOU GUYS! I just loved Dane! Anyway getting back to the story Abby gets the renovations done and one night at dinner with her family decides to charge people what they think the cake is worth. Her idea is scoffed at by her family and customers until they try her amazing cakes! Then the business starts pouring in! She gets a local news crew interested in doing a story on her which gets her name out even more. During this time she is trying to balance her bakery while keeping up a dating relationship with Dane at the same time. Once she gets a call from the Today show things change dramatically for Abby. She starts getting triple her business and even ends up with a celebrity client. Abby gets overwhelmed and starts to realize maybe her dream is dragging her down!

(P.S. is this NOT the creepiest wedding cake ever?)

What I loved about this book (besides everything) is that it didn't have to be overly sexual while getting the romance out there. The love between Abby and Dane was still just as exciting without the raunchy stuff. I found myself feeling the emotions of the story throughout the entire book and the anticipation of what would happen caught me off guard! When Abby got her first cake appointment I got butterflies waiting with her to see how much someone would pay. Then when the check arrived I whooped and clapped like it happened to me! Through the good and bad, the tragedy and triumph I was hooked on this story from beginning to end. I was very pleasantly surprised by this book and I really hope you all take the time to read it when it finally comes out! I can't wait to make some of these delicious sounding recipes from the book also! Happy reading my babies!
