New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett goes for a hat trick with the latest romance in a sexy series about cool-as-ice hockey players and the women heating up their lives.

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

Globug's Review

It just keeps getting better and better. I think Zack is my favorite Cold Fury player so far. You meet him in the first two books of the series but honestly the way the author writes each players story it really can be read as a stand alone. Not sure why you would but you will feel like you're getting the whole story even if you start with Zack.

Following the loss of his long-time girlfriend, Zack is not only trying to recover physically but his heart is in need of major damage repair. Sure he mourns the loss of the mother of his child but there are feelings of guilt that go beyond the tragic car accident. He has remained a caring and loving father to his young son Ben. His relationship with Ben is one of the most endearing qualities that made me fall in love with Zack. I swear I am a sucker for a single dad that makes it obvious that his child is his world. Now after four months Zack is physically able to get back on the ice he but has to make the huge transition of finding a nanny for his son.

Kate is adorable. I was excited about this character right away. She's quirky, silly and goofy but extremely smart as well. She makes up names to call Zack like "Petunia Peacock" or "Gooseberry Parfait" to help lighten his mood. Her home life was no fairytale but she is driven and has worked hard to pay her way through school to get her degree in child psycology. She has been a huge fan of Zack as a member of the Cold Fury Hockey team but now face to face she finds that he intimidates her like no man ever has. She may wear glasses but she is not blind to just how gorgeous he is. I love that she comes off a little ditsy but has a spine when she needs to put Zack in his place. She doesn't take his shit even though she's a little scared of him.

After seeing his sons instant connection with Kate, Zack accepts that she is the best choice as his nanny. Then the fun begins as these two get to know each other. Zack had been so numb since losing Gina and he was starving to feel again. Once he gets an unobstructed view of Kate without her baggy thrift store clothes and long beautiful hair hidden in a bun Zack is like a kid in the candy store wanting everything he sees. I love that once he realizes that she's tried to conceal her sexy beauty he wants to unravel the mystery of why she hides it. Kate's studies in psychology come in handy as she tries to help Zack and Ben move past their loss. Though common sense would tell her it would not be wise to get involved with a man that is still grieving, I love that she recognizes that she could be the person that's supposed to help him heal even if she gets hurt in the end. They are so perfect together. Their chemistry is off the charts when they begin to cross the boss/employee line.

Zack struggles with his guilt about his relationship with Gina and his fear of failing to be what Kate needs. He places all these boundaries on his relationship with Kate and then constantly crosses those boundaries. Kate follows his lead every time as long as he understands that if and when their sex only arrangement isn't enough that she will walk away. Hoping that won't happen doesn't mean it won't. Thanks to their supportive friends Kate and Zack (and Ben) find a HEA.

I had all the feels wills with Zack's story.  I experienced all of the moisture control situations. I mean that really has to tell ya how much I enjoyed this book. I have a feeling I'm going to really enjoy Ryker, the next book in the series. So far the little taste we get of him in this book has me thirsty for more.
