Review: My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron

Book synopsis:

Taylor Caldwell can't decide if she wants to kiss her new college roommate or punch him.

On the one hand, Hunter Zaccadelli is a handsome, blue-eyed bundle of charm. On the other, he's a tattooed, guitar-playing bundle of bad boy. Maybe that's why Taylor's afraid of falling in love with him, or anyone else. She doesn't want to get burned, and even though her other roommates adore him, she wants him gone before it's too late.

Hunter himself has been been burned before, but the fact that Taylor calls him out on his crap and has the sexiest laugh ever make him decide maybe love isn't a lost cause. They make a bet: if she can convince him she truly loves or hates him, he'll leave the apartment--and leave her alone. The problem is, the more time they spend together, the less she hates him, and the more she moves toward love.

But when the man who holds the key to Taylor's fear of giving up her heart resurfaces and threatens to wreck everything, she has to decide: trust Hunter with her greatest secret, or do everything in her power to win that bet and drive him away forever.

Globug's view:

So a huge mistake brings Taylor and Hunter together. The Housing office has sent Hunter to be the fourth roommate. Of course Hunter has no problems with 3girls to 1guy. Hunter is gorgeous and cocky and he's the last thing Taylor is emotionally prepared to handle. Taylor has been unable to overcome her past. Her anger is quick to manifest when it's decided that she will share a room with Hunter. When he invades her personal space she's ready to remove him with a fist to his face and a quick knee to his junk.

Great first day right. I fell quickly for Hunter's asshat charm. The friends and roommates in the story are perfect. Taylor realized that Hunter has a past he struggles to overcome as well. It's a great story about these broken kids finding each other and mending one another. Love heals and hearts overcome pain. Happy endings keep me sane.

Hootie says:

"P.S. I'm also a lost prince from a far away land, want to do me now?"

How can you not love a book that has such amazing quotes like this? YOU CAN'T! I was given an ARC for My Favorite Mistake, and it was such a good book, I had a hard time putting it down! It's books like this that make me want to get paid to read all day...wait...I do get paid to read all day lol ssshhh don't tell my boss!

Let's start with Taylor. This little bitch has spunk! She is a take no shit from anyone type of girl and the very first chapter she proves it by busting Hunters balls...LITERALLY! I love how she handles herself even though she may or may not have an anger issue

"Jesus stop hitting me, has anyone ever told you, you have an anger issue?"

This is my kind of chick! Even though she is tough her character is also very vulnerable and I felt bad for her throughout this book because you know her secret is coming out eventually. I was crying while I read the tough stuff and I must have looked like a freak to my coworkers because I was reading at work and crying. They probably thought I was upset about the stupid football game that was on HAHA!

"May I kiss you now? My Swell lips have been lonely"

Oh Hunter, how do I love thee! Hunter was such a funny, sweet, and romantic character! He tries to act cocky and self assured but it doesn't last long! I fell for him so much! I love how sweet he was to Taylor throughout this story. He wrote the girl a song for God sake! If somebody wrote me a song I would put my junk on their nose, just sayin'. He has his own demons to fight through though and that was really tough to read for me, because I just loved him so much already. I always get to damn attached to characters so when they hurt I freaking hurt!

"I'm just looking out for your vaginal welfare"

The supporting characters in this book were hilarious!! I love her roommates and how they all interacted with each other. You could really see how close the girls were before Hunter busted onto the scene and shook up their world. Sometimes with a book you don't get enough of the supporting characters but MFM gave you plenty of them without making it too much about them.

"Would you let me smash a beer bottle over your head? Because I would totally sign up for that."

Overall I was very pleased with this book. It had heart, and showed just how strong love and friendship can be. It had tons of funny quotes some of which I have included in this review because I couldn't help myself! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
