Review: Kiss Me Kate

One of our favorite series is complete. Kiss Me Kate is probably our favorite of the whole series. You will love
The English Brothers.

Synopsis:

Kiss Me, Kate is the sixth of six books about the Philadelphia-based, wildly-handsome English brothers (and one lovely cousin!) who are all on the look-out for love.

Kate English, cousin to the beguiling English Brothers, has relocated to Philadelphia and now works with her cousins at English & Company. The problem with moving to Philly? It was where Kate met her first love, Etienne Rousseau. Since the move, Kate can’t seem shake the painful memories of a romance that broke her heart.

Etienne Rousseau, neighbor and arch-enemy of the English family, is recently single and has every intention of enjoying his newly-minted bachelor-status. That is…until his brother inks a deal with English & Company, forcing Etienne to work with his one-time lover, Kate English. Though he wants to hate the girl who once destroyed his life, he can't deny the fierce attraction or hide the deep tenderness he still feels for Kate.

With vibrant flashbacks of their passionate, teenage love affair making it impossible to ignore their unresolved history, Kate and Etienne will commit to unraveling the secrets of their heartbreaking past to make way for a breathtaking future.

Globug's Review

I know you have read romances that include a guy that is biggest antagonist and man whore ever known to have walked the earth. Well that guy would be Etienne Rousseau. He is mentioned through out the English Brother series. The English brothers hate him for various reasons but the biggest reason is the history between Etienne (Ten) and their cousin Kate English. I couldn't imagine a way for the author to redeem Ten's character but oh ye, and Hootie and Me, of little faith. Not only is her redeemed but I might go as far to say he was glorified and shall receive his Godhood or knighthood or actually turn out to be a Unicorn. Etienne is not the man everyone thinks he is and he will claim your heart.

Bravo to Katy Regnery for an outstanding end to this series. It was better than I hoped it would be and shall forever be on my list of favorites.

About The Author:
KATY REGNERY, winner of the 2013 NECRWA First Kiss and 2013 Maine RWA Everything But the Kitchen Sink contests, has always loved telling a good story and credits her mother with making funny, heartwarming tales come alive throughout her childhood. A lifelong devotee of all romance writing from Edwardian to present-day, it was just a matter of time before Katy tried her hand at writing a love story of her own. As it turned out, one love story turned into a series of five Heart of Montana romances, following the love lives of the Yellowstone-based Lindstrom siblings. In addition to small-town contemporary romance, Katy is presently writing a paranormal romance that takes place in northern New England and the forests north of Quebec. Speaking of forests, Katy lives in the relative-wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut where her writing room looks out at the woods and her husband, two young children and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all are the messy and unexpected ones.

Pages: 373
ARC provided by author for honest review

Keri Ann Butler's life changed on the night she met movie star, Jack Eversea. She thought she knew a Jack that was very different to the man adored by fans the world over. Suddenly Jack is back, and his explanations for why he left seem more and more plausible, and his declarations more seductive. But being Jack's latest tabloid accessory isn't on Keri Ann's career agenda, no matter how much she is attracted to him. And how can she can ever trust him again?

Jack knows he let the only 'real' thing that ever happened to him slip through his fingers. And his hands have been tied to try and stop it. Until Now.

Jack is now fighting to save his relationship with Keri Ann, even as his crazy life threatens to tear them apart. Again. The question is, can he convince her she can have it all? And have him? Forever?

Globug's Take

I was thrilled when Natasha Boyd invited me to read an ARC of Forever, Jack. I loved the first book in the series titled Eversea. It's one of my top 10 of the year. My heart was not happy at the the end of Eversea but was hopeful for the future of Jack and Keri Ann.

The story jumps right in where the first book ended. Jack is in the middle of discovering he has been deceived by Audrey and his agent Andy. And though Audrey had briefly been pregnant, she lost it before trying to use pregnancy as a reason for Jack to leave Keri Ann. I couldn't feel any sympathy at all for Audrey's loss as she proves to be an enormous lying manipulating b!tch. Now with very little hope of being able to fix things with Keri Ann, Jack is willing to risk it all to try.

Keri Ann has spent the last 7 months trying to move on from having her heart ripped out. She's going through the motions of dating and working and finally starting on her college/career path but she's not prepared when Jack shows up back in her town. He's ready to fight for her but Keri Ann won't give him the chance to tell her the whole story of what's happend since he left. She can't deny her heart still loves him but she's scared of more than just getting hurt again. She finally has a future planned with school and her art. How can she still do those things if she takes Jack back.

We get the details of Audrey's schemes as Jack explains his behavior and the choices his made over the last 5 months to one of only real friends Devon. Audrey is like a female satan. He feels like he was doing what he had to to protect Keri Ann but he just can't get her to listen or understand his choices. Thanks heavens for Mrs. Weaton, Keri Ann's meddling little old lady neighbor. She gives Keri just the push she needs to give Jack a chance.

One of my favorite parts of the book is the excerpt of Jack's journal. His mother is the sweetest. My emotions had my hiding from family as I read. Keri Ann finally gets to see the real Jack, all of his feelings and insecurities.  The pages give her his truth and his heart and the understanding that he was hurting just as much as she was while they were apart.

The author really brings the sweet heat to the story as Jack and Keri Ann reconcile. But of course we've only made it have way through the story and there have to be complications. I was pretty disappointed that her brother wasn't more supportive of their relationship. But he has good reasons for his his worry. I really hope Joey's story will be written. The sleeze of hollywood try to ruin the romance as well.

My heart breaks every time Jack has to beg and convince Keri Ann to not throw away their relationship. I understand she's scared but seriously, I was getting really pissed off with her indecision. I love Jack Eversea! When a girl tells a guy "if you really love me you'll leave" I want to just strangle someone. Thank God the author wrote Jack as a guy who doesn't listen but loves the girl enough to fight to stay. And thank you Natasha Boyd for that limo ride (pun intended). The epilogue  takes us four years into Jack and Keri Ann's future and it's perfect. I absolutely got the happy ending I was hoping for and then some.

Pieces For You by Genna Rulon {Review}

Title: Pieces For You
Series: For You #2
Published: December 17, 2013
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:
"The phoenix hope, can wing her way through the desert skies, and still defying fortune's spite; revive from ashes and rise.” -Miguel de Cervantes

Samantha Whitney survived unimaginable tragedy only to discover she had been betrayed by a man who claimed to love her. Shattered, Sam spends months at a safe haven trying to piece herself back together. Ready or not, the time has come for her to return home.

As Sam struggles to resume a life that no longer feels familiar, she finds unwavering support in an unexpected, familiar face. Confronting Sam’s raw emotions and open wounds head-on, Griffin manages to take two steps forward for every step she retreats.

But when Sam is once again threatened, Griffin must decide how far he is willing to go to protect the woman he wants…knowing the cost of her safety is the risk of losing her.

Pieces For You is a captivating journey of survival, healing, and sacrifice—teeming with honesty, humor, unexpected twists, and love’s unsurpassed endurance.

• This story is appropriate for readers 18+
• Though Only For You is a part of the For You Series, the book can be read as a stand-alone.

Globug's Take

Let me start by saying you must read book one Only For You. This has become one of my favorite series EVER. I could not have been happier with Pieces For you.

The story picks up with Sam as she continues her steps to recovery at The Phoenix Centre. It was a struggle for her just to speak out loud in the beginning. My heart was so broken for this fiesty smart-mouth little bit of a woman. But with the love and support of her sister-like/best friend Everleigh and Ev's boyfriend Hunter, Sam is determined to reclaim her life, sense of style, and sense of humor. Oh and her sassy attitude. I loved seeing that return.

I loved the the thriller/mystery feel of book one and the author continues the thrill ride in Pieces For You. We know Heath is the man that brutalized Sam but as he is being held in prison, she starts receiving threats to scare her from testifying against him. It seems logical to think that Heath or his family could be behind the threats. But then Sam's POS ex-boyfriend shows up and had me thinking it was him. Obviously I'm not going to tell you who it is but I will say it's shocking and sickening who it turns out to be.

Now let's talk about Griffin. He's a supporting character in Only For You as the bartender at the girls favorite hangout. He's also a psychology major that sings and plays the guitar.
The author's use of music and her choice of songs in both books adds a huge element of humor and emotion to the stories. I cried myself through Griffin's playlist in Pieces For You. Griffin is determined to be there for Sam when she returns from the center. Sam sees Griffin in a whole new light now though. He's buffed up while she was away. It helps restore some of her confidence in her lady bits when she feels the desire to do some naughty at just the sight of Griffin (moisture control situation!).
He plays a huge role in Sam's recovery. I love the extent that he is willing to go to get justice for her, not at all ethical but so good. He's able to help Sam find the pieces of her old self and put them together. And he gets his chance to protect and rescue her when it's revealed who's sending the death threats.
There are so many magical moments in this book. It gave me all the feels. I love the banter again between Sam and Everleigh. There's plenty of sexy and sweet. I was a snotty mess through the heartbreak. And the epilogue gave me all the happy ending I was hoping for.

This Girl by Colleen Hoover {Review & Giveaway}

 Genre: NA Contemporary Romance

Publication Date: April 30, 2013

Paperback: August 30, 2013

Series: The Slammed Series

Pages: 304

Format: ARC provided by NetGalley for review

There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.

Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache. Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances, and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas, and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

MY TAKE

Wow, is always associated with how I feel after reading one of Colleen Hoover's Books. You can't just read this series , you experience it. Again the author delivers an emotional journey with This Girl.

Will and Layken are finally together, married, and no longer have to stop at their "point of retreat". So why would Lake start asking about Will's ex-girlfriend? Because Hoover is a genius. She goes back through some of Will's memories as he tells of good and bad times since meeting Lake. I loved Will from the start but I wasn't expecting that I could love him even more after reading This Girl.

Lake takes time on their honeymoon to not only get to know Will physically but to also get to know his point of view of some the important moments they shared in the first two books of this series. I loved reading some of my favorite poems again like "Lake" and "Schooled" and "Better Than Third". Then Hoover puts the cherry on top of this master piece with Will's poem "My Final Piece". I feel like I should send a thank you note to the author for the beautiful ending she gives us to one of my most favorite book series ever.

Colleen Hoover is always so generous that I'm going to pay it forward with a giveaway. Please enter below.

Review: Center Stage by Bernadette Marie

Synopsis:

John Forrester is a simple man. He goes to work. He does his job. Then he comes home to his empty apartment with his flat screen TV. After a bad breakup with his ex wife John swears he will never get married again and does his best to keep to himself. Things change for him when he is fixed up with his Boss' sister in law. Arrianna Keller is like no woman he's ever met and he can't stop thinking about her. After four years of seeing her off and on when she comes home for visits he helps her move back into her home only to be blinded by his attraction to her.

Arrianna Keller has had an amazing career on Broadway being Center Stage. Her life is upturned when she gets a surprise visit from her sister's crazy ex. Packing up to head home Arrianna finds out the person living in her rented basement apartment is the one man she has been attracted to for years. John Forrester is everything she wants in a man. Much like her he doesn't want marriage and children. Despite their age difference Arrianna finds John irresistible and can't help but want him.

When her stalker follows her home Arrianna and John must protect the Keller clan at all costs while maintaining their relationship that at times scares them. Everything is on the line and nobody is safe in the Keller family.

Hootie Says:

Let me just say that if Bernadette Marie wasn't already married I would drive her up to Massachusetts and make an honest woman out of her!!! This woman knows how to write romance let me tell you! I stumbled onto the first book in this series by accident one night while trolling the Amazon freebies list.

Needless to say I became a huge fan and ate up the other books. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Center Stage which I was waiting for as patiently as I could because I have had the BIGGEST crush on John Forrester! He became my favorite character since he rescued Reagan in The Executive's Decision which By The Way is still FREE! So make sure you click the box below and add it to your Kindle.

Anyway getting back to the story Center Stage was AMAZING! It was everything I was desperately hoping for! It starts out with Arrianna coming home from New York after she sort of retires from Broadway. She makes it home just in time for a major family event (Go check out the series so I don't spoil anything for you!) and is greeted by none other than John Forrester! (UGH SWOON!) Every time I say his name I get chills!

Have I mentioned yet how much I love John? lol! Anyway so John ends up helping Arrianna move back into her house which coincidentally he lives in too, in her basement apartment! While helping her set up her bed (yeeeeaaaah baby) the attraction between them heats up and gives those of us who have been waiting on this exactly what we want! See John tried to fight his attraction to Arrianna because she is almost 13 years younger than him and he felt like she might want kids and a family someday and that just isn't what he wants. Hell  he's been so scarred by his failed marriage he feels he never wants to marry again! Arrianna brings out a side of him he hasn't had much use for in years and they spend several intimate moments together if you know what I mean!?

They establish that they really like each other and lay down some ground rules about their relationship before they get too serious. He wants her to himself and she wants him to herself but neither want to make it official with paperwork which suits them both fine. Meanwhile the REAL reason Arrianna moved back home starts to surface causing problems! For those that don't know, there is a bastard character that caused me heart problems in book 1 that returns for this book I wasn't ready for! I thought it was gonna be all "LA LA LA LOVE IS GRAND" but noooo  we get paid a visit by our favorite guest!

Seriously!!! I was freaking out in this book because EVERYONE in the Keller family gets involved in this shit! Things are gong along just fine, Arrianna is renovating an old theatre she's always wanted to do once she retired, and John is helping out because that man can do no wrong! She starts getting phone calls with no one on the other line, finding her family's business cards lying around in odd places and close calls happen at her theatre they can't explain. They go to the cops but those bitches are almost useless due to the law! Really what good is "THE LAW" if the shit don't help nobody and can be bent to someones will? *Steps off soapbox* My Bad, so back to the story the cops can't really help because they have nothing to go on and no concrete evidence. Arrianna starts packing heat just in case she might need it which is totally bad ass! I love a woman who defends herself and I already loved Arrianna so that just added to her characters appeal. John vows to protect her and her family at all costs which just endeared him more to my heart! I swear my daddy issues kicked in with this book hardcore! I wanted to climb into the story and sit in Johns lap!

Things come to a head when Arrianna's stalker makes his move and wreaks havoc with her theatre and her family. I was shocked by the ending honestly! I didn't see it coming but I was so incredibly happy about it I wanted to hug my Kindle! The relationship between John and Arrianna was my favorite of the series by far. They were real with each other and didn't play games, they just enjoyed being together and worked things out when faced with problems. I loved this series and It was kind of sad that things are wrapping up for the main characters in this series but the cool thing is, we get a spin-off series featuring the next generation of Keller's! PINCH ME! Major Thank you To Bernadette Marie and 5 Prince Publishing for being so gracious to allow us an early look at these books we love! I really hope you guys check them out and love them as much as I do!
