The Girl I Was Before {Review Tour}

THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE by Ginger Scott is finally here! Check out the review and giveaway below!

THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE (Falling #3)
 NA Contemporary Romance
Scheduled to release: June 23, 2015

BLURB:
I’m the selfish one. I suppose that’s the nicest thing people say about me. I’ve heard the other things, too. “Paige Owens is a pretty girl with nothing else to offer. She’s just a good time at a party. She’s stupid, heartless, cold and useless. All she cares about is getting a guy to look at her. Why would anyone want to be her friend?”

Some of those things are true. Others were true. They’re all hurtful.

None of it matters.

I’m ready to make the hard choices. I’m ready to face the consequences. I’m ready to be the girl I was before, and I’m done being the one who lost her way.

I’m ready to become the girl Houston Orr sees when he looks at me.

Houston isn’t a star athlete. He doesn’t play in a band. He’s never going to be president, and his life is so far away from simple and easy it isn’t even funny. He wasn’t part of my plan. But I’m starting to think plans are overrated, and maybe our stories are what we make them. And mine depends entirely on me, and the choices I make…starting now.

Houston is my fairytale. He’s perfectly imperfect. He’s poetry and life. He’s truth and heartbreak, all rolled up in a tall body with dark hair, broad shoulders and green eyes that lull me into submission. He’s nothing I ever thought I wanted, but the very thing I need. He’s the only guy I’ve ever really loved, and he thinks I’m a princess. I fell into him, and now I’m holding on.

But sometimes life takes away our ability to choose. Sometimes…things aren’t in your control. Sometimes, it hurts to be selfless. My only hope is that when it comes time to choose, I get it right.

Welcome to my once upon a time and wish for happily ever after.

Globug's Review

Here's the truth: Paige has been a bitch so far in this series. She continues to have bitch moments in this, the final book of The Falling Series. But the beauty of this story is how she finds redemption.

I had my doubts about Page being likable after she destroyed her twin sister's reputation and nearly ruined her chances of success on the college soccer team in the first two books. Up until this point we've only seen the selfish and self absorbed side of Paige. Finally she has a moment of clarity and sacrifices everything she has dreamed of for her sister. Granted the things she is giving up are all shallow desires but her effort is the beginning of major life changes for Paige. She has a plan.

I fell hard and fast for Houston. He's twenty one and has had to suffer loss that forced him to grow up really fast. He see's something special in Paige. Though neither of them feel a need to be saved, they ultimately rescue each other. It's important to remember that Paige is only eighteen. She's never been in love. Her boyfriend at the start of book three is a whale sized douche. She was not prepared for everything that Houston would bring to her life. I think he brings the likability to Paige's character. Her sister reminds her of the girl she was before but it's Houston that motivates her to be that girl again. He makes her brave. He says the sweetest things to her. He wears his heart on his sleeve for her and is more than happy to be "her spotlight" instead of in the spotlight. I do love that Paige is strong and will stand up for herself. One of my favorite Paige moment is when she stands up to a little boys mom at the park.

When Paige decided to bring down her sisters nemesis she had no idea it was going to cost her more than just her popularity and her rising star in her sorority. But put to the test she finally learns the true meaning of love and that there's no room for selfishness in love. She's just needs help recognizing that she's ready for it and to get over her fear of not being able to love him enough. I love that her sister and friends play a big part in helping Paige and Houston get there happy ending. I can't tell you about the parts that claimed my heart the most without spoiling it for you. But Paige did win me over and Houston wins as book boyfriend of the year. This was the perfect end to the series. Yes it can be read as a standalone. I recommend you read the whole series or even better, you should just read everything written by Ginger Scott. I will gladly share her as one of your favorite authors too.
