WILD RECKLESS
Very Mature YA Contemporary Romance
Scheduled to release: March 17, 2015

BLURB:
Kensington Worth had a vision for her senior year. It involved her best friends, her posh private school in downtown Chicago and time alone with her piano until her audition was perfected, a guaranteed ticket into the best music programs in the world.

Instead, a nightmare took over.

It didn’t happen all at once, but her life unraveled quickly—a tiny thread that evil somehow kept pulling until everything precious was taken from her. She was suddenly living miles away from her old life, trapped in an existence she didn’t choose—one determined to destroy her from the inside, leaving only hate and anger behind. It didn’t help that her neighbor, the one whose eyes held danger, was enjoying every second of her fall.

Owen Harper was trouble, his heart wild and his past the kind that’s spoken about in whispers. And somehow, his path was always intertwined with Kensington’s, every interaction crushing her, ruining her hope for any future better than her now. Sometimes, though, what everyone warns is trouble, is exactly what the heart needs. Owen Harper was consumed with darkness, and it held onto his soul for years. When Kensington looked at him, she saw a boy who’d gotten good at taking others down when they threatened his carefully balanced life. But the more she looked, the more she saw other things too—good things…things to admire.

Things…to love. Things that made her want to be reckless.

And those things…they were the scariest of all.

Globug's Review

I could feel the author setting me up to fall in love within the prologue alone. I'm a goner for the broken boy and Owen is so broken. He's only 5yo when he witnesses his father commit suicide. Thirteen years later he's the dark, mysterious and possibly evil neighbor Kensington meets as she moves into her new home.

Kensington is angry with being moved to a new town for her senior year. You learn quickly that her father is overbearing and makes all of the big decisions in her family. She's a gifted pianist and her father nurtures her gift but he also tries to dictate what she plays. She loves jazz and her dad is all about classical music.  To make matters worse, her new neighbor is a creepy jerk and also in her classes at school. People always look at Owen and remember his past but Kensington looks at him and sees his future.

One of my favorite things about this story is watching Kensington stand up to Owen's assholery and layer by layer she is able to uncover his true nature. Her tense run-ins with Owen continue to escalate until Owen reveals a secret that destroys Kensi's family and her dreams of music. But he also shares a glimpse of his heart with her that confirms what she suspected, Owen is heartbroken and for that she is able to understand and forgive his insensitive behavior.

The beauty of this story is in not only the revealing of each truth about how special and sweet Owen is but also in his need to protect his family and now Kensi as well. He's so selfless and smart and refuses to follow his own dreams and potential to make sure his families needs are met first. I love the way he takes care of his younger brother Andrew. There is a heart wrenching moment when Owen is taking care of his older brother as he going into withdrawals. And another glimpse at the sweet boy that loves his grandpa. My favorite moment is when Kensi helps Owen face his memories/fears on the Ferris Wheel at the Apple Festival. Theses are the parts of Owen that Kensi see's and falls in love with. Finally someone that's willing to put Owen first and make sure his needs are met. His biggest ychallenge now is accepting what Kensi is offering, which is everything.

I have loved all of Ginger Scott's books. They continue to get better and better. Each one has something special that claims my heart . I would love for the author to continue this story from Owen's younger brother Andrew's POV. He is a darlin.
