Luke Jackson.

With his thick southern drawl and seductive charm, Luke is the country boy everyone adores. He has his future mapped out, but his plans with Olivia are suddenly derailed when she makes a decision that blindsides him, changing the path they both envisioned.

As Luke struggles to keep everything in check during a difficult time in his life, he must put his trust in the one person who broke it to begin with. The last time they saw each other, Olivia busted his heart wide open, turning him into the man he is today.

When Olivia returns to her roots, just like Luke said she would, he is shocked for more reasons than one. Nine years have passed since they've seen each other, and when their roads collide unexpectedly, Luke can only push his worry and misgivings away for so long.

Things are different now—they are strangers—and the rope that once bound Olivia's heart to South Fork, Georgia is pulling her back in, forcing her to remember how it used to be all those years ago.

You'll Think Of Me is a story that caught my attention for two reasons. The sweetheart angle and the second chance romance aspect are two my my absolute favorite kinds of stories to read about. The setup is pretty simple. Olivia and Luke are a young couple who are torn apart by her choice to leave the small town they grew up in to follow her dream to become a doctor. Having parted on bad terms the two spend nine years apart living separate lives with Luke perusing his music and Olivia moving back to Georgia after graduating. Their second chance comes when Luke's mother is diagnosed with a debilitating illness that throws the two back into each other's lives.

Olivia and Luke were two stubborn and hot headed people. Through a series of in depth flashbacks that spanned several chapters it's entirely clear that these two had a great love. It's also clear that both had a hand in their split. Olivia's closed mouth approach to telling Luke about her future plans to leave and Luke's bullheaded attitude about her staying in a town that would stifle her independence just to stay with him. Both are butt hurt that the other can't see their way on things and they let that break them up. Olivia was a tough chick full of moxy and independence which is exactly how I like my heroines. She didn't take any crap from Luke and knew how to put him in his place. Both in the past and present. Luke was a pretty decent guy although he kind of got on my nerves a little bit. I couldn't understand why he didn't want to at least follow Livy while she pursued her dream and then eventually come back but I could see his point. He loved their small town and Olivia wanted to see more of the world coming from an adopted family with two hapless parents there was a need inside her for more Luke just couldn't understand. They were both young and impetuous so it was expected.

There were a few things things about the story that didn't really work for me in the long run. Olivia dating Nate, a patient who comes into her office was fun at first and I really liked him but I felt like he was just a plot device to add unneeded conflict into the story. I felt like between the nine year separation between Luke and Olivia and the struggle to trust each other again and reconcile was enough of an obstacle without adding anything else. Nate was a great guy at first but he started to become a dick once he noticed Luke coming around more. I didn't feel he was necessary because they only dated for about a month and not enough of that time was spent developing them as a solid couple enough for me to believe Luke coming back could hurt either one of them as badly. I didn't feel like there was enough detail a bout Olivia's passion to become a doctor. I would have liked to see what drove her to push for this career so much that she would risk her heart over it. Same goes for Luke. I wanted to see how he got started in the music business and how his life changed since he became famous. It seemed he could just come and go as he pleased with nobody recognizing him and that didn't feel very genuine to today's obsession with celebrities. Maybe if the flashbacks had been scaled back a bit and Nate hadn't played a part in this I would have connected to everything a little more. Then again I hate saying that because I did enjoy Nate and wouldn't mind a story about him specifically.

The chemistry between the main characters was spot on and perfectly captured. So many little moments sprinkled throughout either in memory or real time had me swooning. You'll Think Of Me was an uphill struggle of wills as Olivia and Luke hash out their past and discover if they even have a future together after so much time. There is something to be said about a couple with staying power and though it was a painful journey at times with these two knuckle heads I will say they made it all worth while in the end. Franco did a great job of blending southern charm with sweet romance in her debut You'll Think Of Me. A hero who sings to you while in the throws of passion and a heroine who can shoot Whiskey straight and put any man in her place, there is something for every book lover to enjoy within the pages of this story.

  2. I got a review request for this but as I am swamped I skipped it. It sounds interesting enough, second chance in love stories are rich because of the history involved. Thanks for the review, Hootie Patootie (ok that's lame but whatever), I'll flag that email and maybe when I have extra time I can dive in to this.
