An orphaned, small-town, southern girl, held hostage by responsibility and self-doubt. A Hollywood A-list mega-star, on the run from his latest scandal and with everything to lose. A chance encounter that leads to an unlikely arrangement and epic love affair that will change them both forever. When his co-star and real-life girlfriend is caught cheating on him with her new director, A-list hottie, Jack Eversea, finds himself in sleepy Butler Cove, South Carolina. Jack hopes the sultry southern heat in this tiny coastal Lowcountry town will hide him not only from the tabloids and his cheating girlfriend, but his increasingly vapid life and the people who run it. He doesn’t count on meeting Keri Ann Butler. Keri Ann has relied on herself so long, dealing with her family’s death and the responsibilities of keeping up her family's historic mansion, that boys and certainly the meager offering of eligible boys in Butler Cove, have never figured into her equation. But fate has other plans. Suddenly face to face with the man who played the movie role of her favorite fictional character, Jack has Keri Ann yearning for everything she has previously avoided ... and Jack must decide whether this funny, sassy girl is worth changing his life for, before his mistakes catch up to him.

My Review:

I'm not one of those people who are really big into celebrity gossip. In fact, I kind of think they're all over paid assholes. So it's strange for me to be so into a story about a big named celebrity movie star and a small town waitress. I've had Eversea in my kindle for over a year with every intention of reading it before now. Its always been in the back of my mind and when I've gotten side tracked by other stories Eversea always popped up in my thoughts, time and time again. I'm so glad I finally stopped dragging my feet and fell in love with Jack Eversea.

Keri Ann butler is just a small town girl waiting tables to make ends meet, trying to keep her historic family home from defaulting back to the townspeople all while waiting for her brother to finish school so she can have her turn at getting out of Butler Cove. She's never dated anyone for fear of being trapped in this small town thinking it would keep her from greater things to fall in love so she's stayed a loner. All that changes when Jack Eversea comes into town to escape the Hollywood drama his ex girlfriend brought to his door.

For anyone who fell in love with the Twilight series (just like I did), and got wrapped up in the magic of Robert and Kristen's off screen romance (just like I did), Then Eversea will sound familiar to you. Jack and his girlfriend Audrey were the stars in a major film franchise when she cheated on him with the married director of her latest movie. If you, like me, adored that which was "Robsten" then you too were devastated when that situation went down. Much like I assume (or hope) Rob did after that, Jack takes off to clear his head. Which brings him to the small town of Butler Cove where he meets Keri Ann.

It was incredibly difficult not to fall in love with these two characters and their story. What begins as an arrangement for Keri Ann to run errands for him in exchange for his help renovating her house quickly builds into something more as they get to know each other. Keri Ann was still innocent, never having had a boyfriend but she was full of fire and pride. I loved how she kept Jack on his toes and even though he was a big movie star that she had crushed on she didn't treat him any different. Keri Ann had goals and dreams so while she may have been into Jack hardcore she wasn't willing to just drop everything for a guy no matter who he was. It would have been so easy for her to do so but she kept her head on straight. The self doubt that constantly plagued her making her feel like she wasn't enough for Jack made me hurt for her and at times made me want to shake her. I can't imagine what it would be like to have the attention of every woman's wet dream standing in front of you on a daily basis but I felt like her reactions were pretty damn genuine to what a normal, non psycho fan girl would be. She was the perfect mix of star struck and down to earth girl falling in love with a guy.

Jack is just...Jack! *sigh* He's the worlds hottest star at the moment and everyone wants a piece of him. Everyone except Keri Ann. He's not looking for anything serious but her feisty charm and personality draw him in. I was really happy to see Jack open up to Keri Ann little by little. The tortured memories of an abusive father still plague him and weigh heavy on his shoulders and confiding in Keri Ann was a huge step for him. Trust is not easy in his business especially when everyone you know only wants something from you, never giving anything on return. He's only made a few friends in H-Wood and his circle of trust isn't very big. Jack was sweet, caring and just downright amazing. He did have a tendency to be a bit cocky at times but once I got to dig beneath his layers a little bit I found him to be a really solid character that I fell for.

Keeping a secret like Jack's celebrity safe in a small town isn't easy but Keri Ann and jack take extreme care only telling a few people. But it isn't them who spill the beans on his supposed whereabouts. When Jack's ex Audrey shows up in town with a bombshell in tow both Jack and Keri Ann face the unknown when he leaves town to handle this bit of drama. Eversea was such a great book with fantastic character development and a well built love story. I would have liked to get a POV from Jack but looking back now I see it would have spoiled the story. Cliffhangers are not something I typically enjoy but with the second book already out it wasn't a problem so I hurried and bought the second one and devoured it as well. This was a story that wrapped me up in it's small town charm and kept me swooning with the sweet romance between Jack and Keri Ann. I really wish I would have read this sooner so take my word for it and don't be like me. You definitely need to read Eversea asap!

It was almost like any eye contact right now would suddenly make the moment way too intimate. There was just this current and energy around him all the time. It was like swimming endlessly, trying to keep my head above water. Mobi/Kindle 15%

His unshaven jaw was rough and exquisite on my skin and all I could think, as I clutched his shoulders and wound a hand up into his soft, damp hair, our lips moving together, was that I wanted more. I wanted to taste more. I needed more of him. More. More. Mobi/Kindle 41%

"Sweetheart, there hasn't been one moment when I've considered you afraid. I look at you, and all I see is certainty. Courage. Bravery. God, I've never met anyone so sure and so strong of who they are." his mouth tilted up on one side. "It's epic." Mobi/Kindle 69%
