I’ve found it’s easier to share my body but not my soul. I need no one, yet I crave her. Self-assured and independent, she doesn’t need me—but she wants me, and undeniably I want her too. At war with myself as I battle the secrets of my past, I don’t know if I can allow her to see the darkest parts of me, the parts I’ve left untouched—undone. As she chips away at the walls I’ve built for years, I fear those secrets will hold me hostage from love—forever. Companion to "Unbreakable" -- Landon's story **This book is a Contemporary Romance and contains mature subject matter. It is not intended for those under 17 years of age.**

My Review:

I have been waiting for Landon to get his own story for a while. When I first met him in Unbreakable I wasn't too fond of him at first. The way he came across in the beginning was crass and very demanding and at the time I was scared of him due to what Jess had been through. Once I got to know him a little bit better it wasn't long before he stole my heart and honestly became my favorite character. I wasn't prepared for what I got in his book but everything about him made me love him even more.

On the surface Landon appears to be very charming, controlled and self assured. He knows exactly what to say and do to get a woman to go home with him but he never gets with the same chick twice. He's all about no strings attached, casual sex because to see someone more than once would open the door to be more and he can't give anymore than his body. Out on patrol with his partner Matt one night they get called to a rowdy bar to break up a fight where Landon first sees Reagan serving drinks. Immediately he sets his sights on her as his next conquest but when she plays hard to get it throws him off his game a little bit. Undaunted by her coy dismissal, Landon pursues her harder until she finally decides to meet up with him. As they get to know each other they form a friendship Landon hasn't had outside of his relationship with his sister Lindsay. Neither one can deny the attraction they feel for the other but don't want to ruin what they have in this new territory of push and pull chemistry.

Learning more about Landon and his past was fantastic yet heart breaking. I knew he would have a wellspring of emotional damage but it goes so much deeper than that. It's not enough that he had to watch his father abuse his mother as a young child but when his mother leaves him and his sister behind to suffer the abuse for years after. I didn't fully realize how badly damaged Landon was until I got his back story. beneath his rough exterior and deviant sexual behavior he was just a scared child who didn't want t risk being left behind again so he guarded his heart. How can you not love a guy who desperately wants someone to just be there but can't express that due to his fear of abandonment? He is a fiercely loyal guy as evidenced by his devotion to his sister throughout their lives.  He needed someone to equally match his damage and I was so glad he found something solid.

Reagan may be this put together doctor who serves drinks at her uncle's bar occasionally but under the surface facade she's got her own issues. She faced one of the most crippling losses a woman can face when she was a young woman. The loss of her baby has  turned her into the female version of Landon in some ways. Afraid to get close to anyone and risk losing something else she values and I think that is why she pushes the friend card with him so hard. I really loved Reagan and what she brought out in Landon. She was strong, fierce and loving. Kind and sweet. She was playful and fun, only serious when the situation called for it and watching her and Landon grow together as friends and eventually more was great for me. I really enjoyed how Reagan bonded with Lindsay, Landon's sister. The two girls needed a close female friend I don't think either of then had based on their past issues with relationships. Reagan's story made my heart ache for her and the things she went through.

I didn't expect the level of drama that would be dredged up throughout the story. Not only does Reagen have to relive the nightmare of her past but Landon has a bombshell dropped in his lap about his past also. It's no secret that Landon's mother bailed on him and his sister leaving them to suffer the wrath of his abusive father but what surprised me is the motivation behind it and the lives changed because of it. Landon and Lindsay weren't the only two affected by the choices their mother makes but there is another life tangled in this web of deceit. I have to say that Adam's character seemingly came out of nowhere but the juicy drama he let tag along with him was something I enjoyed. He may be just another doctor that works with Reagan but there is more to him than meets the eye that I think shocked me a little bit. His part in the story broke my heart for him and all that he went through on the sidelines of his own life. It left me wondering if he should have a story too because he caught my attention early on.

I was on a knife's edge the entire book wondering what Landon was going to do to screw up his relationship with Reagan. Being the strong personality that he is I think I was expecting him to be a scoundrel when it came to women but surprisingly his connection to Reagan brings out a different side of him that I loved seeing. I built it up in my head and heart to be more than what t was but in the end I am glad I wasn't right about my assumption of him. He made me proud by the time I finished and I enjoyed seeing things change for him finally. Aside from the mild drama involving his mother there wasn't anything overly dramatic in Undone like there was in Unbreakable. It was rather tame for a Landon story and although it wasn't what I expected I did enjoy it and the bond he formed with Reagan. I can't wait to see where his sister Lindsay's story goes because the connection she shares with Landon's partner Matt seems like it would be intense and emotional as well.
