Embraced Blog Tour {Hushed Review & Giveaway}

HUSHED Synopsis:
He’s loved her. Killed for her. Yet he may not be able to save her.

Eighteen-year-old Archer couldn’t protect his best friend, Vivian, from what happened when they were kids. Since then, he’s never stopped trying to shelter her from everything else. It doesn’t matter that Vivian only uses him when skipping from one toxic relationship to another. Archer is always there, reeled in and tossed out, waiting to be noticed.

Then Evan Bishop breezes into town with a warm smile and calming touch, and Archer can’t deny his attraction to him. Evan is the only person who keeps him around without a single string attached. And the harder Archer falls for Evan, the more he sees Vivian for the manipulative hot-mess she really is.

But Viv has her hooks in deep, and once she finds out Archer’s dark secret, she threatens to expose the truth if she doesn’t get what she wants. And what she wants is for him to end his relationship with Evan...permanently.

Globug's Take

Wow! I had no idea what I was getting when I started this book. I didn't read the synopsis before signing up with Ink Slinger PR to read and review Hushed because I trust them to send me the good stuff. So as the story progressed and characters developed I found that I had to see where this story was going.

Archer has tormented himself since the day he was forced to watch the unimaginable done to his friend Vivian. He decides murder is the best fix. The book begins as he is orchestrating the death of the one of the men responsible for the crime and also happens to be Vivian's brother. I have to say I would feel the need to seek the same kind of justice Archer is. I would never do it but still,some crimes are beyond forgivable or repair.

Archer has blindly loved and supported Vivian since childhood. She has gladly taken everything he had to offer and given little in return. Archer's parents were some of the worst as well and are another reason Archer is so damaged. He's always believed he was in love with Vivain dispite her repeatedly falling for guys that just used her and tossed her away. He actually hopes that one day she will return his affections. Until then he continues to be her most loyal friend.

Evan comes along and befriends Archer looking for nothing more than his company. One of the most intriguing points of the story was Archer's growing feelings for Evan. It was so sweet and felt so natural. I thought I was going to be pulling for Vivian and Archer to be together. This was the first book I remember reading where the lead guy went from loving a girl to falling in love with a guy and learning what true love was supposed to be like. I loved Evan and the way he loved Archer unselfishly. The more I read the more I hated Vivian.

I would not have guessed the outcome of this story. Vivian totally loses her mind, like crazy psycho loses her mind. Archer doesn't just get away with the murders he committed but I was happy with the way the author closed the story. I was left with hope for Archer, that he would heal and finally find love that was true and everlasting with Evan.

Kelley York Bio:
Once upon a time, Kelley York was born in central California. And it's there she still resides with her lovely wife, step-daughter, and an abundance of cats, while fantasizing about moving to England or Ireland. She has a fascination with bells and animals, is a lover of video games, Doctor Who, manga and anime, and likes to pretend she’s a decent photographer. Her life goal is to find a real unicorn. Or at least write about them.
Kelley is a sucker for dark fiction. She loves writing twisted characters, tragic happenings, and bittersweet endings that leave you wondering and crying. Character development takes center stage in her books because the bounds of a person's character and the workings of their mind are limitless.
 Her first book, HUSHED, was released by Entangled Publishing in December 2011. Her second and third books, HOLLOWED and SUICIDE WATCH, were released in 2012, and her next Entangled book, MADE OF STARS, is slated for October 1st, 2013.
