Synopsis:
Picking a boyfriend can be murder, but for Annalisa Winslett, it might end up being the literal death of her.

No one at Pensacola High School suspects the girl they know as Annalisa McKinnis to be a wealthy heiress in hiding, but things begin to unravel when two new guys enroll. Both guys are gorgeous, and both are trying to win her over. The only problem is that one of them has a million dollar contract to put a bullet in her.

This book is the beginning of a wild ride in a trilogy that will make you wonder if the power of love can truly conquer all.

When her pure and innocent heart is offered to him, will this cold and empty hitman fall, or will he remain untouchable?

I loved this book so much that I had to finish the series before I wrote this review. Before I start I want to say that if you are a hardcore Atheist and you get a rage boner at the mention of the word Jesus, even if it's just a Mexican guy cutting your grass, ya might want to pass this book up. It does have some spiritual elements mentioned throughout which didn't bother me, I used to go to Church and all but I liked God better when I wasn't balls deep in church drama. Anyway...that old saying never judge a book by it's cover couldn't be more true with this one. It doesn't immediately jump out at you and scream "READ ME". The blurb doesn't really do it justice because there is so much goodness packed into these pages it will blow your mind.

17 yr old Annalisa or "Leese" as she calls herself, has been sent to Pensacola to stay with family friends because her mom is convinced she is in danger. She doesn't understand what is making her mom feel this way and she fears her mom may be about to snap mentally. As beautiful as she is, Leese doesn't make time in her life for boyfriends because she isn't sure when she will get to go back to her home in Palm Beach once her mother feels like it's safe again. When Evan Lewis ends up at her school and shows interest in her she tries her best to keep away from him but he makes it impossible. She finally relents and starts getting closer to him but then Ryan Faultz, the other new guy shows up on campus and starts hanging around her which makes Evan super jealous. The closer she gets to both guys, the more she starts to uncover details about the plot to kill her. With only six weeks until the contract on her life has to be executed she must race the the clock in order to find out who is behind it all.

This review has been the hardest one I have had to write. Not because of the content or the story but because I have wracked my brain all day trying to figure out what to say about it without spoiling the suspense element. Yes there are two guys, and yes one of them is a contract killer sent to take Leese's life but there is so much more to this story than meets the eye. Like the fact that of these two guys involved, Leese ends up falling for the guy sent to kill her unbeknownst to her! That alone was nail biting for me because throughout the story you didn't know what would happen to her when the final page came because the killer ends up with feelings for her too! Is that lame? Hell no! Not the way the author does it, it is gradual the way these two develop feelings for each other. He is drawn to her innocence after witnessing her selfless demeanor, her faith and her zest to live life to it's fullest! Now don't get me wrong, this isn't one of those Bible thumping, honk if love Jesus types of books. Yes Leese goes to church, sings christian music and yes she talks about her faith but that isn't why she is appealing to him. He grew up in the mafia and has never met anyone like her before. I honestly believe it's her strength, because even though she knows he is supposed to kill her, she shows humility and forgiveness in the face of danger and that reaches down into  a part of him he doesn't want to admit exists. That is one of the main reasons why I love Leese's character. She didn't shy away from facing her own death in order to uncover the truth. She has balls of steel and a black belt as her weapon of choice!

As for the guys well they are both smoking hot! Ryan is the tall, slender guy with Jet black hair and bright blue eyes. He's fun and adventurous while Evan is also tall and muscular with dark hair and green eyes and more intense. For me it was a no brainer who the hotter guy was but I will let you figure that out for yourself. I didn't have a clue what genre this book was when I started reading it and I assumed with the religious aspects that it wouldn't get too intense but I was surprised to find that there were really steamy moments that showed the humanity behind the faith. Leese does go to church and she believes in God but the author writes her in such a way that you could understand where she was coming from. You don't just get the message about her faith but you are also given the reasons behind it. I loved how the author incorporated everything so well. It was written in a way that wasn't preachy in it's delivery but it does make you stop and think. The most beautiful part was watching the romance blossom between Leese and the hitman who is "Untouchable". You would automatically think that it's impossible for a hardened killer to fall in love but once again the way it is written makes it absolutely believable especially when we meet his family and find out exactly what has shaped him into this person.

The suspense aspect was brilliant. There was actually a plot within a plot which was a total mind fuck! Poor Leese gets shit from two different sides when her and the killer discover another contract on her from someone else! Her mother is sent to a psychiatric facilty for attempting suicide and she runs off with the Hottie Hitman after the other hitter takes a shot at her during school hours. Talk about drama! I was shaking at one point due to the adrenaline of the ups and downs in this story. There is a moment in this book that involved an ipod and a Hoobstank song that brought tears to my eyes and I had to stop reading so I could collect myself because I was reading this at work. Just thinking about it makes me misty eyed. It was the most swoon worthy book moment I think I have experienced.

This story was amazing and beautiful and so good and intense that I wasn't even done with it before I begged for the other two in the series. (My review for those will post later.) I am a sucker for suspense even though I freak out on twitter  (which most of you probably saw) but like I said, there is so much going on in this book that I didn't want to spoil it but you HAVE TO READ IT! What I have said in this review doesn't even scratch the surface, trust me! It was the perfect blend of suspense, romance, and drama that I know you will enjoy! It's definitely on my read again list that's for sure.

“So if I kiss
you here,” he said letting his thumb gently brush across my lips. “I’ll
be the first guy to really kiss you?” PDF pg 47

I have to kill you,” he stated, using the full press of his body to
hold me to the wall, “But—I have to have you first, Leese.”
His mouth was moving toward mine, but my face turned away.
“You’re going to have to shoot me,” I replied, a certain amount of
bravado still clinging to my moral fiber. “The only man that is going
to have me will be the one who loves me"  PDF pg 101

"Everything in my life—everything—is corrupt. I’ve only known
one glimpse of innocence and that glimpse is you. I don’t want to
corrupt you. That’s why I agreed to be a gentleman, and that’s why I haven’t grabbed that impetuous mouth of yours with my own and
taught it how to respond to a man. I’ve never had to use as much
strength in my entire life as I have in these last nine days.” PDF pg 172

“Tell me to stop, Baby. Tell me before it’s too late.”
“I love you” I replied. “I can’t hurt you this way
anymore. Make love to me.” PDF pg 225
