Book Review: November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Happy Release Day! I'm so excited to share my review of November 9 by Colleen Hoover. I tried to keep it spoiler free.

Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day of her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Globug's Review

"Why do you look like you're in pain?" You'll come across this question as you're reading November 9 but I feel it perfectly describes the questioning looks my family gave me while I was reading it. When I was about fifty percent through it I explained to my family that I was going to read in the back bedroom and that I was not to be disturbed. I hate it when they look at me crying over a book. Fortunately my husband up'ed his game and made sure they had dinner that evening. I spent the second half of the book ugly crying my way through what can only be considered another work of genius by Colleen Hoover.

So much pain is associated with November 9th for both Fallon and Ben. The true source of Ben's pain remains a mystery throughout most of the book. He swoops in like a hero for Fallon and in just a matter of hours brings a sense of confidence to her that she hasn't felt in two years. The banter between them is sweet and funny and so unique to the author. Thousands of mile will serperate them but they agree to meet every year on November 9th for the next five years. It may be hard to imagine true love growing from these brief moments together but I believed it because my heart felt every bit of pain and joy as their relationship hit it's peaks and valleys.

There are a list of things that I loved about their story but I'll only share a few. Fallon's mother had only a small part in the story but her wise words play a huge part in Fallon finding happiness. Hoover throws in a huge ah-ha moment with a visit from characters from one of her other books and I was so giddy over it. I loved that Fallon's job was voice acting for audible books and the part that reading romance novels played in many of the conversations she had with Ben.

Hoover has a way of including plot twists that I never see coming. There are actually a couple of twists in November 9 that I don't think anyone could predict. I feel so inadequate to explain just how freaking awesome the book is. I've already read it twice now and feel like reading it again. It has all the feels and they run deep.
