BLURB:
Andrew Harper grew up in a house marked by tragedy. His older brother Owen did his best to shelter him, but you can only be protected from life’s pain for so long. Eventually, you end up just feeling numb…and isolated.

Loneliness was the one constant in Andrew’s life. Until one girl, met by chance in a high school hallway, changed everything. Emma Burke was a mystery and all that was beautiful in this world, the only air Andrew ever wanted to breathe. She took the lonely away, and filled it with hope and color, and Andrew would do anything to keep her safe, happy and whole.

But sometimes, what feels good and right is what ends up hurting us the most. And when Andrew and Emma are faced with an impossible decision, Andrew is tested to see just how far he’s willing to go for the girl who owns his heart.

Cuts are deep.

Scars are left behind.

And revenge beckons.

When Andrew finally gets his chance, in college, five years after his first love broke him completely, he finds out old feelings don’t really disappear just because you say you hate someone. The more he tries to avenge all that he believes he lost, the more he uncovers the real story of what happened years before.

Love is wicked. But a restless heart is never satisfied beating on its own. Can Andrew and Emma make it right before it's too late, or will the ties that bind them now destroy their only chance at a future?

Globug's Review

My biggest wish after reading Wild Reckless (book 1 in the series) was that the author would write Andrew's story. Well I got my wish but Andrew's story is not at all what I expected. I've learned over the last few years of reading that some of the best books are the ones in which the author wounds my heart and then heals me with a Happily Ever After. All of Scott's books do that perfectly.

The Andrew Harper I met in Wild Reckless was sweet and super smart. He was loving and well behaved but also sheltered. Once his brother Owen leaves for college he struggles with loneliness. His family's history makes it hard to make friends in a town that won't let his past stay in the past. Everything changes when he meets Emma.

Emma is new in town and I instantly loved her because she accepts Andrew regardless of the rumors she hears. The only disappointment I had with her character was that she never trusts Andrew with her secrets. So when everything falls apart and Andrew slowly becomes bitter my heart was devastated. This was not supposed to happen to my sweet boy. For five years the pain of his heartbreak simmered until it boiled over and he had to seek out real physical pain to relieve the emotional pain of his past.  He wants revenge and a chance run-in with Emma gives him the perfect opportunity to have it.

It killed me to read as Andrew schemed of ways to hurt Emma. His need for physical pain playing hockey and boxing for money are the last things I expected or hoped for him. But the author is so good at weaving the characters path back to their most ingenuous self. The characters only chance at a future is for them to be completely honest and open about their past.

I have to give an honorable mention to Andrew's best friend Trent. He was my favorite supporting character and needs his own book. Scott continues to rule my list of favorites.
