He’s always wanted her. Now’s his chance to claim what’s his. School teacher Marceline Bellini gave up everything—men, sex, anything resembling a social life—to raise her young daughter. To be the perfect parent. But when she attends an engagement party in her standard stick-in-the-mud mode, her friends begin plying Marcy with shots. Just enough to convince her that a little fun doesn't sound like a bad idea... and having some naughty fun is an even better one. Like finding herself deliciously pressed against a dark alley wall by the very familiar and very hot body of her best friend's older brother. After years of waiting in painful silence, police officer Aaron Robinson finally has Marcy’s attention. And man, does he have it. But nothing could have prepared either of them for the rush of fiery lust between them. So he’ll just have to convince Marcy he’s for real. And that a rainy, lust-fuelled romp is the first step to a lifetime of completely imperfect happiness…

My Review:

His To Keep is a Novella. Did you know that? Because I sure as hell didn't! I knew nothing about this little book except that it was by Katee Robert and I have enjoyed her other books so I was like, "YOLO". You can't go wrong with a school teacher and a cop but throw in a little hot sex and you've got one great story.

Single mother Marceline Bellini has no room in her life for anything but her three year old daughter Grace. She certainly doesn't have time for her best friends brother Aaron. Sometimes though you just can't help what comes into your life and when it happens. I love these kinds of stories. The best friends sibling lovers make the best romance. Marcy and Aaron have both been into each other since they were younger but Aaron was a little older and left town while Marcy had a kid.

Strong women are characters I gravitate to. They don't come any stronger than Marcy. Being a single mother is tough work and having been raised by one I was totally in Marcy's corner. She was the best mix of determined and independent woman and she was hard headed. Especially when Aaron tried to shoulder some of the burden for her but I could see where she was coming from. She put what was best for her daughter, first and that was commendable. What I loved most about her though was how she admitted that while she could do these things on her own, it was nice to have someone to share life with. Aaron was incredibly patient and understanding with Marcy. He was strong enough to know she was more than capable to handle things herself but knew his own attributes would help not hinder her progress. After a stint in the military he's come home to have a more peaceful small town career as a local police officer. His main attraction was the way he valued the relationship with Marcy's daughter and wanted to be included in their dynamic. Any man who loves kids is automatically the hottest guy ever.

The chemistry between Marcy and Aaron was combustible at best! Having skirted each other for years it all comes to a boiling point after a few drinks and some heavy making out. The connection between these two couldn't be contained and made for some really great steamy scenes that had me smiling and blushing just a little bit. (That's kind of hard to do because I'm a pervert) While we did get some back information about them as they went from childhood friends to more I would have liked to know more about the friendship between Marcy and Aaron's sister Erin. I'm not entirely sure if this is some sort of a spin off or companion so I may just be confused but it felt like I was supposed to already know a little about the friendships due to the mentioning of the sister as if she already existed. If that makes any sense. That was the only thing about this story I didn't understand and that was hardly anything to balk over. His To Keep was sexy and fun and it wasn't hard to fall in love with the characters. This is the perfect little novella that won't take you long to to read if you need something quick and sexy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa's knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back. Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way--as it often does--and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she'd like to write a book and try to get published. Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn't want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?  She now spends her time--when not lost in Far Reach worlds--playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
