Sometimes you don’t see the storm coming until it’s too late...

Severe Storm Warning Tip #1:
Be alert to changing weather conditions. Look for approaching storms.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #2:
If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #3:
They may strike quickly, with little or no warning.

Situated just outside of Oklahoma City, Calumet County is divided into two drastically different communities: Hope’s Grove and Summit Bluffs. One is the small backward town where dirt roads lead the way to field parties and railroad tracks. And the other, a sprawling suburb where paved drives lead to the landscaped lawns of the wealthy and privileged.

For five teenagers smack in the middle of Tornado Alley, summer is heating up fast. The winds of change are blurring the invisible line that divides the rich and the rural.

One has a secret.
One has a crush.
One has been lying.
One will get caught.
And one might not make it out alive.

They’re from two different worlds…but one summer is about to change everything.

My Review:

Have you ever read a Book that consumed you and sucked you so deeply into the story that when you finished you felt lost? Like you didn't know what to do now that its over? That was exactly how I felt after finishing Storm Warning. I was so lost in the characters, the setting and the story-line that I couldn't come up for air until the last page! Storm Warning was filled with drama, romance and gut wrenching choices that will leave you breathless. I had the chance to Beta read this and the only reason I mention that is because Storm Warning was one of the rare books that I didn't find anything that needed to be changed within the story. I felt it was nailed as is in the first draft and fell in love with it immediately.

Kyle and Ella Jane are siblings trying to help their mother after their dad runs out on the family. E.J. runs the paperwork side of their lawn maintenance business while Kyle handles the grunt work. When Kyle gets accepted into Oklahoma State he leaves his best friend Brantley Cooper or "Coop" in charge of making sure his baby sister is looked after. What he doesn't know, or pretends not to know, is that Cooper has been in love with E.J. for a while and wants to change their relationship from friends to more but when Kyle puts the BFF kibosh on him Coop loses his nerve. E.J. has been completely smitten with Coop since she was a girl but when he drops the ball on making his move she cozies up to Hayden. The city boy sent to live with his grandfather and help out with Kyle and EJ's  family business. While home for the weekend Kyle meets Cami, a spoiled rich girl with parents who she's basically invisible to.

There was nothing new under the sun going on with this story. You have the wholesome farm boy who falls in love with a rich girl who only cares about her reputation on one hand but on the other you have a sweet young girl who seemingly loves her brothers best friend but gets swept up into a summer romance with an out of towner. This story has been done before but the thing that made this so magical was how connected the characters make you feel towards them. With the exception of Cami I loved all the characters and was pulled into their worlds with such ease. There wasn't anything overly complicated with this story even with the somewhat triangle between Cooper, EJ and Hayden. Everything had fantastic pacing and flow. Once you get hooked on a character's story and what was happening with them the scene would change and you would be swept into another character's story. Kyle and Cami make progress with their relationship but Cami manages to screw it up with her self imposed baggage. They were a couple I could root for but at the same time I wouldn't have been sad if they didn't make it.

The crown jewel to me was the triangle between EJ, Hayden and Cooper. I am always a sucker for the childhood sweethearts and usually tend to sway more towards that pairing but when Hayden blows in from the city with his deck shoes and polo shirts and sweeps EJ off her feet I couldn't help who I fell for. Cooper was a serious front runner for me during the story and I kept waiting to see exactly what he would do but the more he put it off and dropped the ball the more ground Hayden gained and eventually pushed him out of the picture. I have to say, for a character that had my undying support from the start, Cooper lost me halfway through and never managed to grab me again. I don't think he's out of the running completely though because the twists in the story involving him were juicy little tidbits you would otherwise miss had he not stood back a little. Hayden was probably my favorite character. He was cocky and stuck on himself at first but his personal character growth was such a pleasant surprise it was no wonder he stole my heart. He shares an unknown connection with EJ that endeared the couple to me a little more and their romance was such heart warming goodness that you can't resist feeling affection for them.

There is so much going on throughout the story, so many plot twists and surprise revelations that you don't even notice that there is a really bad storm on the horizon. That was the second magical thing about this book. I was so intensely focused on how the characters would flesh out that I didn't see this massive plot twist coming to shake up the entire story! By the time the storm comes and goes, and the dust is starting to settle the authors leave you with a Dallas-esque sort of ending where you are guessing who was caught in the storm to their detriment. I am on pins and needles waiting to find out who didn't make it out of this crazy twist ending. Be prepared to cry, freak out, scream and throw your kindle because there isn't much room left once you're left dangling over the Grand Canyon! I hate cliffhangers more than anything but with a series it's a little more understandable. I have a feeling that by the time this book is finished you will be as completely at the authors mercy as I still am. Storm Warning, although Young Adult was filled with Delicious intrigue, tender romance and shocking secrets that will leave you speechless at times! This is one of those books that I highly, highly recommend, knowing full well you will fall under it's spell as much as I did.

He'd panicked and he'd crushed her. Especially after their almost whatever it was at the river the other day. But the don't you dare look on on Kyle's face stopped him from following her like he desperately wanted to. Beta/ARC 24%

"And I pretty much jump out of bed every morning nearly bursting with excitement to see you. To hear what you're going to say or what name you'll call me. And I was definetely never a morning person before. Look at me. I'm spending my day off at work just to be with you. I wouldn've kicked my own ass if someone had told me I would be like this." He'd never told a girl he loved her before and as much as he wanted to shout it from the rooftops a little part of him was worried she'd reject him. She was champagne and caviar and he was beer and corn dogs. Beta/ARC 74%

About the Authors:

E. Lee

Born and raised in the middle of a Midwestern cornfield (not literally, that would be weird), I’ve spent my entire life imagining stories. Stories where the right guy always gets the right girl, first kisses are as magical as they are on the big screen and anything is completely possible if you believe.

Although this journey began years ago, it recently took on a whole new life. After years of devouring hundreds of Romance, YA and New Adult novels, I had an epiphany... I should write a book. And I did it!

If I’m not reading, writing, enjoying drinks with my amazing group of girlfriends or chasing around a sarcastically funny kid, I’m probably watching television shows that were created for teenagers, while my husband teases that I’m too old to watch them.
