Release Day Blitz ~WORKING IT~ Review, Excerpt & Giveaways

Working It
Author Kendall Ryan
Released date November 11, 2013
ARC provided for honest review

Synopsis:
A story of heart-stopping, toe-curling passion by the beloved bestselling author of Hard to Love, Resisting Her, and The Impact of You.

Straight-laced and well-mannered southerner Emmy Clarke is out of her depth in New York City’s fashion world, but when she lands a job as an assistant at a modeling agency it seems like the perfect mix of business and pleasure. Working under the notoriously tyrannical Fiona Stone is a nightmare, but there’s one distinct perk: ogling the ridiculously hot male models who parade through the office—particularly rising star Ben Shaw.

Ben is everything Emmy’s not: exquisitely gorgeous, highly paid, and well-traveled. He’s also got more issues than Vogue. Emmy looks after Ben on photo shoots, but she refuses to become another one of his lusting groupies. Ben finds Emmy’s refreshingly real attitude to be surprisingly attractive.

Against a backdrop of the most fashionable cities in the world, casual flirting turns into an illicit affair, but when Ben’s twisted past is revealed, and the bitter Fiona catches wind of their relationship, their careers and hearts are threatened.

Globug's Take

For those of you don't know me, I'm a huge fan of male models. I could talk about them all day. So when the author first announced that her next book would be about a male model I signed up to help in any way possible. I was very lucky to be one of the first bloggers to receive and ARC copy of Working It.

What makes this story even better is that not only is it about a male model, but he falls for an average girl. That feels like a true fairytale right? Well Emmy isn't a gorgeous skinny model. She's your average girl with real curves from Tennessee. She happens to work for a modeling agency in New York. The agencies top model is Ben Shaw. Now Ben has been raised by his mother who is also a model so he's always been around the business. Emmy has no doubts that he would only be interested in a supermodel. He's a living God so he can get any girl he wants. But it just so happens that his history is what makes Emmy so appealing to him.

Ben is instantly drawn to Emmy. He loves her curves and southern charm. Emmy sees a gorgeous man but also feels his need to be nurtured and cared for. She'd love to be the one meeting his needs. Now together in Paris for three months for work, these two are given the perfect opportunity to get to know one another. I loved the sexting between Ben and Emmy. Ben definitely has a way with his dirty talk. I've never been a huge fan of the word pu88y, but I quite enjoyed it when Ben said it. He's very up front with Emmy about what he wants from her. She tries to resist, not very hard though. In spite of his in your face honesty about what he wants and that he doesn't want a relationship, there are still things Ben is keeping from Emmy. Small truths about their boss Fiona(bitch extraordinaire) could destroy the relationship Ben never thought her wanted.

You will love the supporting characters Braydon, a model friend of Ben's, and Emmy's best friend and roommate Ellie. There's been some online chatter about a scene in the book that includes Emmy, Braydon and Ben. My thoughts about it are one, it's a fictional romance novel, and two, it's probably an activity more people participate in than we're aware of. And thirdly, it was HOT as hell. I mean, this threesome scene can really lead to a moisture control situation (poise Alert).

My only disappointing moment of the book was the end. First off because it ended and then secondly because I would have preferred it ended on a happier note. But this couple still has a lot to work out. I will definitely be looking forward to the next book in this series.

Excerpt:
The photographer only prompted Ben very little. He knew how to move on camera, holding each pose for a few clicks, then turning, tilting his jaw just slightly, pouting his mouth, placing his hands on his hips, in his hair. He knew how to work the camera. The one thing that remained constant despite his movements was his intense stare, looking straight into the camera. Those dark hazel eyes burning so brilliantly. A shiver raced up my spine remembering how dark and hungry his eyes looked when he rubbed the toy against my panties last night.
The photographer clicked away, in obvious joy at getting to work with such a talent. “Chin up,” he directed. “Beautiful.” Click, click. “Relax your shoulders.” Click. “Stunning. Just like that.” Click, click.
The ads for the designer denim jeans hugging Ben in all the right places would be on billboards and in magazines that fall. I felt like a cool kid that I got to sneak a peak of the behind the scenes action.
“Great, now look off camera. Pick something to focus on,” the photographer told Ben.
His eyes found mine.
“Good, stay there,” the photographer said.
Ben’s pouty lips parted and his gaze slipped lower, settling over my chest. His jaw twitched. Desire raced through my system. My breasts felt so full and heavy, they practically throbbed for his touch.
Every tilt of his jaw, each flex of his arms felt sexual to me, a silent beckoning me with his eyes. I suppressed a hot shiver. The things he could do to my body without laying a finger on me scared me. This man was devastating to my system.
“Smoldering!” the photographer called out, continuing to click away.
If he only knew…my panties were about to ignite. Honest to God, I was a fire hazard. Ben needed to stop looking at me like that. His eyes wandered the length of my body, and I lost any interest I had in keeping us apart. My body wanted this too bad. Craved it. Like a junkie needing a fix.
