Olivia Spurgeon has been a good girl her entire life. Her friends have called her Spurgeon the Virgin since 9th grade. Why? Because everyone in her group of friends had already lost there virginity by then. Over the past four years it has been like a foreign object attached to her and even named it something simple. Virginity. Now, she's a freshman in college and still hasn't done the deed. All three of her roommates do not have Virginity attached to them and they aren't scared to show it off. Olivia is jealous. She wants what they are having, feeling. One day she finally decides that she doesn't want Virginity attached to her anymore and begins the journey of losing it. WARNING: THIS BOOK IS DEFINITELY ONLY FOR AGES 18 OR OLDER. OLIVIA HAS CRAZY THOUGHTS. IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY INAPPROPRIATE THOUGHTS I RECOMMEND YOU DON'T READ THIS. IF YOU HAVE VIRGIN EARS I RECOMMEND YOU DON'T READ THIS. IF YOU HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR THEN READ THIS.

My Review:
If ever there was a book written specifically for me Losing Virginity is that book. Although the main character is trying to lose her virginity and mine waved bye-bye to me long ago the circumstances surrounding the loss of her V-Card were hilarious and fun.

It's no secret that Olivia is still hanging onto her V-card with an iron fist. It's not by choice more like lack of viable options. With everyone around her constantly having sex and feeling like she's missing out Olivia sets out to find a guy she likes enough to finally give it up to. When her friend Jess sets up an online dating profile Olivia finds herself on a date from hell with a really gross guy. After getting stuck in an elevator with an extremely handsome stranger whom she writes off as a man whore she ends up coming face to face with said man whore Ryder, whose dating profile handle is Bigstick. As these two get to know each other a friendship develops and slowly turns into something more.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I mean obviously the cover is what caught my attention to begin with but once you get past that hot guy with his wiener almost showing you get a really funny and sweet romantic love story. Olivia's character was incredibly hilarious and realistic. The way her voice was written reminded me of myself so much I finally realize why everyone has always told me I should be a comedienne. I loved how she knew what she wanted and didn't just decide to give away her virginity to any Rando who walked up. She took time to figure out what she wanted to get from sex and what she needed from the guy in return. It wasn't that she had any religious reasons for wanting to wait, she simply understood that it was a big deal and wanted to weigh out her options, and with some of the guys she had com across it was no wonder she waited. I loved that while she was in search of a man she still kept a level head and paid attention to her college courses and still dedicated time to her non profit job. When she meets Ryder Dawson she finally starts to come alive sexually and their banter and budding relationship was exactly the kind of romance I love to read about.

Ryder Dawson was probably my favorite part of this book second to the humor. He was very charming, Absolutely romantic and despite his creepy screen name turned out to be a gentleman to my surprise. I really enjoyed watching him break down Olivia's defenses and work to gain her trust. Despite the fact that she caught him several times before they officially met with a different woman every time, he turned out to be a decent guy. The way Ryder treated Olivia made me swoon and watching them go from friends to lovers was very fulfilling. What I didn't like was the secret he's keeping from Olivia throughout the story that almost costs them the beautiful relationship they have built. I didn't really think it was as big of deal as Olivia did but I could understand where she was coming from. I too hate it when secrets are kept in a relationship. It ends up not being the secret itself but the fact that someone you trust is hiding something. Thankfully though Ryder continues to be the most amazing guy and redeems himself and my heart melted even more.

There was so much win in this book it's hard to pack it all into this review but the main thing I loved was the hilarious cast of characters. Olivia's roommate and best friend Jess was a bit of a tramp but she genuinely cared about Olivia. Even during the times when she was having sex with her boyfriend while Olivia was still in their shared bedroom. I hate people like that who blatantly do shit that makes people uncomfortable and Jess was one of those people but she did add to the already funny moments in the book. Another character that played a somewhat important part was Olivia's ex boyfriend Carlos. The lead singer of the indie band Pussy Wagon. Carlos was almost Olivia's first but when it was all said and done she just wasn't ready when they were in high school. He doesn't get much page time but one particular scene was both laugh out loud funy and cringe worthy. A penis in the eye is no laughing matter. Two of the funniest characters happened to be her co-workers Alex (the token gay guy) and Veronica (the sassy black woman). These two got into trouble on their own but ended up getting Olivia into hot water with them a few times that made for some Lucy and Ethel moments.

Losing Virginity was romantic, sexy, charming and hilarious. Olivia made me laugh countless times with her witty sense of humor and crazy situations I could absolutely identify with. Ryder was the perfect love interest for her and captured a piece of my heart by the end. The only thing I found that bugged me a little was the timing of some of the jokes were off. There would be times when Olivia or another character would say something funny and it should have just stopped right there but the author took it one step over the line and the joke fell flat. That didn't happen very much so it wasn't a deal breaker. Overall this was just a really lighthearted good book that will have you in stitches and Awe's over the romance and L.O.L at the humour. I can't recommend it enough, especially for anyone who can relate to a bumbling first time experience in the sex department or anyone with a shitty dating record like myself.

Quotes:
The room across the hall started creaking, and moans came from down the hallway. What the hell? Was it a full moon? I was probably the only one not getting my needs satisfied here. There was so much sex in this building right now it sounded like some kind of opera for perverts. ARC 3%

"So, you are twenty two, stacked and ready to fuck," Jess said. "Okay. No." I grabbed her hands off the keyboard. She smiled up at me kindly. “Do you think I’d really put that? I want you to have fun, not get attacked.” She continued with my profile settings. I had a job. I was continuing college and I liked cats. I could imagine thousands of other men who shared the same traits with me and were hiding bodies underneath their porches. ARC 17%

There was no feeling in the world like it. My bottom was flat against Ryder’s hips and I could feel every inch of him inside me. It hurt a little, just enough to be good. Just enough to make me feel a little bad, a little naughty, and I involuntarily started rocking myself up and down a little, chewing my lip and whispering incoherent things. ARC 80%

  3. I'm with you, V-Card cashed in a looong time ago and it wasn't hilarious! The cover is sexy and too tempting not to stare at with the hopes that it'll give us a nice silhouette.... still staring...
