From the moment he lays eyes on Sinners’ new front of house soundboard operator, drummer Eric Sticks knows he has to make Rebekah his. Unfortunately, she’s too busy trying to seduce guitarist Trey Mills to pay him much attention. Rebekah never planned to fall for the tall, goofy drummer with the weird sense of humor and a heart the size of the galaxy. But Eric makes her laugh and his constant attention makes her feel sexy and irresistible–exactly what she needs after the things her last lover said to her. A woman who gives as much as she takes, Rebekah makes Eric feel like a total stud–exactly what he needs after surviving a decade of watching the incredibly talented members of Sinners from the wings.

My Take:
Not only did this book become my favorite but it holds the title of best cover in my opinion. Wicked Beat was Fun, Wicked Hot and surprisingly full of heart.

Being a drummer since birth and having played in high school, to say I was looking forward to Eric's book is a gross understatement. Since Backstage Pass I have had a soft spot for Eric that only got more soft having watched him long for what the other band members have in their women. Eric is the affable drummer for Sinners and the resident goofball, always joking, pulling pranks and relentlessly picking on Jace, the young Bass player. Eric reminds me of the male version of myself and I think that might be why I adore him the most. Having been passed around from foster home to foster home, all he wants is a little stability and someone to love. When Rebekah joins the band as the new soundboard operator he thinks he's finally found his dream woman. Sadly though she has her eyes on Trey. I love that it didn't take long for Eric and Reb to get together but I honestly hated the way it went down. Eric is a little bummed out that she only likes Trey and therefore takes his time making a move which is when Trey steps in and takes initiative to get the ball rolling....with his tongue! I really hated that Trey got to taste her first and granted that's as far as it went it still pisses me off. I guess I was already on the Eric/Rebekah bandwagon as soon as she came in the picture with her hair matching Eric's.

Rebekah turned out to be another favorite female in the series for me. Having recovered from cancer she has some serious body issues caused by her ex fiance and that causes her to be uncomfortable with sex until Eric comes in and makes her feel beautiful. At first she pissed me off and it seems like she uses Eric to feel better about herself but the further I got into the story the more I liked her. Dealing with cancer was hard on her but the painful repercussions on her body left not only physical scars but emotional scars as well. My heart broke for her having to watch her dream die along with the cancer. She feels like less of a woman because of everything she has been through and hasn't been with another man since her fiance. She takes over soundboard duties after the accident involving the band's tour bus left her brother in a wheelchair. I loved her fierce confidence in herself and her abilities. Being a fresh graduate in sound engineering nobody in the crew takes her seriously and someone even tries to sabotage her effort. She was determined to prove herself despite the fact that she was banging the drummer. She didn't rely on Eric to get by and I loved how hard she worked. What won me over for her was how she stood up to her mother for Eric. She didn't let her dictate her choice in a man especially when her mother tried to push her to get back with her ex.

Once again Cunning brings the heat in Wicked Beat but beyond that what I loved the most about the sex was how playful and fun this couple was. They were flirty and sexy and didn't take themselves too seriously. They played games and wore costumes and just enjoyed being together. It was refreshing to see Eric bring out the saucy temptress in Rebekah and to see her lighten up and enjoy herself after everything she had been through. I have always heard that having fun in the bedroom is the key to a happy relationship and these two surely have the FUNdemantals down. From being covered head to toe in spunk and syrup to teaching Eric to control his premature evacuation there was never a dull moment between them. Nobody writes sex quite like OC and I have yet to read an erotic romance that has caused me to stop reading for some adult time as often as I do while reading one of her books.

One of the surprising factors of this book for me was Trey. He plays a key role in not only getting Eric and Rebekah together but finding out a secret that ultimately keeps them together. I have to admit Trey wasn't really my favorite, even while reading his book. I guess I have always seen him as a threat, first with Brian and Myrna then with Rebekah and Eric. With Rebekah having a crush on him I was mad at him even though he can't help he's just so damn sexy. When he discovers the key to keeping Eric and Reb together I finally started loving Trey and understanding his purpose in the grand scheme of things. Where I once saw him as a troublemaker and clinger, he basically becomes a hero in this book and I finished it totally in love with him like everyone else.

Finishing this book was bittersweet because it was so good but also the final book to release in this series. I can't express my love for this couple enough! Eric was the SWEETEST guy even giving Master Sinclair (Brian) a run for his money with how amazing he was to Rebekah. He was extremely patient with her and ultimately helps her overcome her body issues and brought them closer together. In turn Rebekah brought something into Eric's life he had been missing. Family. I think these two were the most fun out of all the couples with their love for kinky foreplay making for not only an extremely hot read but some endearing romance as well. I have always loved an Underdog in any story and watching Eric finally get everything he wanted and needed in life was a beautiful thing. Wicked Beat was everything I wanted and so much more. As a fan of this series I cannot recommend it enough. If you love smoking hot romance, rockers with big hearts and women who know how to handle them, then this is the series for you!

Quotes:

"Why would you need a camouflaged condom?" Rebekah asked. "So you won't see me coming." ARC 35%

"What are you thinking about?" she whispered. "Watching you spread butter on your breasts until they're all slippery, while I jack off and come all over your tits," he whispered back. "I want it in my mouth," she whispered. Eric groaned. It wasn't nice to tease him like that. ARC 70%

  2. Meeeeeeep!

I had a feeling you would love Eric and Rebecca. IMO he was the most relatable and realistic of the guys. I love that he had to work at sex and wasn't a natural born boning machine. I love your review!
