*Only suitable for readers over 18* Fireside Series Vol. 1 Cheyenne is planning the perfect weekend with her partner to be Collin. But when the weather turns ugly she finds herself trapped in a cabin with dangerously attractive Luke, one of her father’s ranch hands. When the power goes out Luke and Cheyenne make the decision to keep each other warm, in more ways than one.

My Take:
I'm not even sure how I feel about this book because it was so short. I wouldn't classify it as a novella. More like an Ella, or like a pamphlet. Ablaze is the first in a series of novellas it seems and while it was short it was sort of interesting.

From what I gather Cheyenne is the daughter of a wealthy man who owns one of the largest Ranch's, Ranches? Anyway, being the daughter of a wealthy man Cheyenne is set to marry Collin, son of another wealthy man in an arrangement set up by their fathers. Cheyenne is set to spend some alone time with Collin at her father's cabin to discuss their impending marriage but gets stranded with Luke, one of her father's ranch hands when a storm rolls in.

The story was a little cliche' with the rich daughter shacking up with the poor ranch hand but I did like Luke's character. He had a tough set of circumstances he overcame after being  attacked by a mountain lion prior to ending up working at the ranch. His survival skills kicked in when the storm knocked out the power and that made Cheyenne feel safe. I could see where she would be attracted to him for that reason. Every woman wants to feel safe and protected and Cheyenne needed that because her stupid fiance didn't even come check on her. I can't say they had electric chemistry though because this pamphlet/novella was so short but they did have enough page time to turn up the heat a little. It wasn't extremely hot as far as erotica goes and honestly it was only enough to piss me off because by the time they got going it was over.

Overall the story was interesting as far as the setup for the characters. By the time it ended it had enough of my attention to want to see where these characters end up but not enough that I would rush to read it. I hope the next book is a little longer because I did like Luke and Cheyenne even though there wasn't enough development of their characters. I'm not sure I would recommend this just yet based on this story alone, I would have to see what the next in the series involves before I can make that distinction. Ablaze was interesting and a little steamy so if you like really short stories you could read on the shitter, with some heat thrown in you should give this a try.

I'll be seeing what I think of this one soon enough. Great review...or view...or pamphlet.

  2. I'm LMAO with Andrea cause that's the same sentence that I fixated on! ;)

I read a novelle last week that I was really disappointed in because it was too damn short. Looks like I'll be passing on this one.

    Great review.

  4. More like an Ella or a pamphlet. Isn't this free? Good to know, now I have a companion book when I'm constipated.
