Meeting Jett was like bad luck. Dangerous. Unpredictable. And better avoided. In his game, the stakes are high. But are they worth the risk? Brooke Stewart, a realtor in New York, finds forgetting is hard, but forgiving is harder. When the man she trusted, betrayed her, the only way to forget is to move on. Brooke is determined to start a new life, until she meets him again: the green-eyed, sexy as sin, six foot two sex god. The man who played dirty. The man who played her. Sexy, rich, and arrogant Jett Mayfield knows he has made mistakes. He could have any other woman, and yet it’s Brooke he wants. When second chances collide with secrets and Brooke is threatened by the past, Jett is determined to protect her. She accepts his help unwillingly because she needs him but she wants to play his game on her own terms. And she has no intention to forgive or let him back into her bed. When the man she is supposed to hate is the one she should trust, will he conquer her…or lose her forever? A woman who can’t forgive. A man who has made mistakes. Two lives that are about to cross again and more secrets laid bare.

My Take:
I fell in love with the story of Jett and Brooke in Surrender Your Love and was left upset by their breakup at the end. Thankfully though Conquer Your Love was about them finding their way back to love and learning to trust again.

When Brooke discovered she was the sole heir to a billion dollar estate in Surrender Your Love she was floored. When she she learned that Jett knew who she was from the beginning she felt betrayed and used for the sole purpose of getting his hands on the estate. When Conquer Your Love opens up Jett is left wondering where Brooke has disappeared to. Brooke has packed up and left with her best friend Sylvie in order to hide out and think for a while. It doesn't take Jett long to find her and at the perfect time. Brooke is in danger by unknown forces the closer she gets to discovering the secret behind her inherited estate. The more she digs, the more she uncovers and with Jett by her side helping and doing everything he can to win back her trust, Conquer Your Love was pulse pounding.

Brooke's character really stepped up in this book. I totally expected her to push Jett away after everything she has dealt with. She had every right to want to move on from Jett and not give him the benefit of the doubt but she carried herself with poise and handled everything perfectly. She was hurt by Jett's betrayal and felt deceived that he would go behind her back and lie to her about everything. I love that she didn't keep those feelings to herself but instead talked everything out with Jett and gave him the chance to explain. Together they confronted their pasts and the demons they struggled with and built an even stronger foundation of friendship and renewed trust they didn't really have time to cultivate in the first book.

I have to say I wasn't thrilled with Jett in the first book. Yes he was hotter than licking a cast iron skillet full of chicken grease but he was still Aloof and I didn't fully trust him. When it came out that he knew who Brooke was from the beginning I was even more skeptical of him and that didn't help him win my favor. You know what did though? This book. Jett won my affection in Conquer and by the end I was totally in his corner. Not only does he love Brooke and try to show her through his actions and words, but he risks his life to protect her. Together they encounter some craziness involving the dark secrets behind this whole estate mystery that only served to bring them closer together. I figured we would have to wait out the whole book for them to reconcile but I loved that it didn't take long for them to clear the slate and start over.

Brooke's best friend Sylvie is featured more in this book and has a little but of a side story on her own that threw me for a loop. While the girls are out at an club in Italy Sylvie meets a sexy tattooed man who rocks her world. His identity is unknown until a funny moment in the book when he's mistaken for a lurker outside Brooke's Italian estate. Turns out it's just Kenny, Jett's childhood friend. I loved the idea of Sylvie and Kenny together, even though they aren't the main focus of the story I wouldn't mind reading something about them.

The mystery aspect was stepped up in this book although we still don't get any closer to finding any answers. Between being chased through the Italian mountainside and finding a strange walled off room in her new home, Brooke has some serious shit on her hands. The action and suspense was well written when it came to the "Whodunit" mystery but we still have to wait and see, hopefully in the final book Treasure Your Love who the hell is behind all this and what this big secret is. Although I enjoyed the intensity this book brought and the mystery given I still felt like we could have been given a little more. It seemed like for every clue found more questions were raised without any real answers, or even hints to answers. I could have used a little bit more in this area.

The only issue I had with this one was the creepy sex words. We all have certain words or phrases that come out in sex scenes that take a little of the sexy out of the heat. Mine was the use of the word "Moisture" in this book. Seems harmless doesn't it? Like how could this word possibly gross you out during a sex scene?

"A hot jolt of lightning seared my clit a moment before his moisture surged through my sex."

Now until this, my word was "Cream". I hate when that is used to detail a woman's Vaginacle. If you got Cream pouring from your hole you need to take your ass to the Clinic cuz he lied to you girl. Why did this word "Moisture" trip me up? Here's another example...

"My throat constricted, and my eyes swelled up with moisture."

To me it's confusing because it was used so much in the sex scenes between Brooke and Jett that when she cried and "Moisture" filled her eyes I thought he Skeeted in her face. Do I have a dirty mind? Absolutely. Is this juvenile of me to feel this way? Fuck you. It's nothing major that kept me from enjoying the book as a whole, it just creeped me out and deflated some of the hotter moments between this couple I loved so much.

Overall I did love this book. We had Jett and Brooke back together, stronger than ever and having lots of make up sex. (WhooHoo) plus there was a little Scooby Doo mystery in the action and drama department. Third We got a little extra sideshow between the best friends in the story with their own little plot twist . Total win! Conquer Your Love was a fantastic followup story to Surrender and gave me what I wanted between these two characters. It was fun, exciting and Swoon worthy as far as adult romance goes. I'm looking forward to the next installment and the continuation of the crazy that has been building since the beginning.

“You have me, but are you mine?” Jett whispered, his deep voice sending another delicious pull through the depths of my sex. 1. I really liked this too! So glad you did.

I'm not even going to touch the "moisture" discussion. Just know that you made me bust out laughing at Eric's Mamaw's house.
