Review: Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

Book Synopsis

Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine

I was so excited to get Woods story. I had no idea what Della's story was going to bring to this series. When you begin reading you're in Della's mind three years ago as she finds her mother dead in their home. Her best friend Braden is there and helps Della as her mother's body is taken away. There are small pieces to Della's past in this brief chapter.

Jump ahead now four months from present day and Della is starting a journey to find her life. Braden has left for her honeymoon and given Della a car so that she could travel and live a little. Della spent her whole life trapped in her own home by her mother. Throughout the story you get glimpses into what Della's life was like with her mom. She meets Woods for the first time at a gas station when she realizes she has no clue how to put gas in a car. They get upclose and personal pretty quick. With Woods looking for a break from his reality and Della looking to live life to the fullest they go for a one-night stand. I was needing to clean up after the quicky in the truck. And then I had to read it again. All of this happens before you even get 8% through the book.

Present day, Della is in Dallas.  She has to stop long enough to get a job to earn some money for her travels. After getting majorly screwed over (pun intended) by her boss, it's time for Della to hit the road again. Luckly the bar tender she works with has the perfect solution for her. He just happens to have a condo she can stay in that's on the beach in a small coastal town, and his cousin can even get her job. Della had no idea Tripp was sending her right back to the town where she met Woods. As for the job, it just so happens that she's slept with her new boss too.

Della struggles with nightmares every night about the abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother. Woods struggles with being forced to marry a girl, Angelina, who he doesn't love or even like. Woods' is forced to abide by his father's wishes if he ever wants to advance in the family business. They decide to try friendship. Bethy and Jace are just as cute in this book. We get a hint at things that happened with Grant since Never Too Far. No one knows about Della's past until a night out with the group. Woods had no idea his questions would trigger Della to freeze up with a flashback to her childhood. Despite this little revelation, Woods doesn't run. He wants to take care of her and protect her.

Woods isn't the only one wanting to be there for Della though. Tripp decides to come home. Now Della is forced to tell someone else about her past. She doesn't give Tripp the details but prepares him for her nightly screaming fits. Tripp convinces her stay a while longer and then maybe travel together when she decides to leave.  After witnessing one of her night terrors, Tripp is determined that Della shouldn't be alone.Yes, Tripp is making a play for Della too. This is just the push Woods needed to make him claim Della as his. I love getting to see the deeper side of Woods. He has such a good heart. His grandparents were amazing and are the reason Woods didn't turn out like his father. I love his honesty and even more I love his naughty talk when he's making the moves on Della. Good lawd it gets hot.

Tripp really wins my heart when he has a talk with Woods about what happens at night with Della. In her best interest, Tripp has Woods come over after she goes to bed so that he can be there for her when she screams in her sleep. Finally you get the whole story about her childhood and why her mother went crazy. It's such a sad story. Again I just had no idea what Della's story was going to be and you can't help but love her.

Not only does Della have a confrontation with Angelina but Woods father thinks he can buy her off. The shit that man pulls is epically eff'ed up. Braden and her husband take care of Della. When Woods finds out about what his father did he flips his shit and tells his father they are done. When Woods gets to Della she explains all of her fears to him about her mental health and how she found her Mom. Then it's all passion and I Love You. Turn the page and the author throat punches you. I was so happy about the bitch named Karma that makes an appearance in the last paragraph of this story. It really is Twisted Perfection.

I can't wait for the continuation of this story. I'm just as anxious to get Tripps book. Grant needs a book too and don't forget Bethy and Jace. Abbi Glines is going to be busy for a while =)
