My only regret is that I waited so long to read this book.
I'm so in love with angels right now. More specifically, I'm in love with Halflings. Nikki is a seventeen year old girl with a fighting spirit. She wants to be an artist and is already skilled in Karate. She finds herself being chased in the woods by four huge Hell Hounds and is then saved by unearthly beautiful boys. They call themselves Lost Boys, but they are really half human half fallen angel. And now rule breakers because they were not supposed to be seen by Nikki. Now Raven, Mace, and Vine (great name choices) are forced to have to enlighten Nikki with the truth about who they are and what realm they come from.
The story continues as they all try to understand why Nikki is in danger and what the full purpose of the Halflings journey/assignment is. Mace and Raven stuggle with controlling the feelings they have for Nikki. Nikki's heart makes her choice but she can't be selfish because it would cost the Halfling everything. We also have to question the intentions of this self-proclaimed old family friend that's been showing up at Nikki's house to do business with her parents. They collect and sell antique weapons. When Nikki's world spins out of control and this friend,Mr. Vessler steps up as her Godfather, Nikki has a huge choice to make. Who will she choose as her new family? And where will they go from here. Love is found but hearts are also broken. I look forward to the next book. As a huge romantic I can only hope for love to win in all things.
Thanks to NetGalley and Zondervan for sharing this book with me. And to the author Heather Burch for a great read.
