Review Tour *** Hold My Breath ***

We're celebrating the release of HOLD MY BREATH by Ginger Scott! Check out the review, teasers, and giveaway below!

HOLD MY BREATH
NA Contemporary Romance-Stand Alone
Scheduled to release: November 18, 2016

BLURB:
Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.

I would know.

They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger
brother Evan be the one to shine.

Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.

The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.

My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.

And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.

In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.

Globug's Review

So, did you read that blurb? There's no way for me to sum it better than the author did. Seriously, that is one of the best synopsis ever. I was so ready to dive into this book after watching the incredible summer Olympics this year and also because Ginger Scott always adds something special to her stories that ends up leaving her mark on my heart.

Will and Maddy have spent the last four years trying to overcome the same tragedy. Instead of grieving together they allowed their pain to be the force that kept them apart. Their careers as top competitive swimmers have suffered as well. But most of all Will has struggled with not only loss, but responsibilties that burden his heart and spirit. I was so worried at the start that Will was going to have skeletons that would ruin the potential relationship with Maddy. I should have known better. The author has again created an ultimate book boyfriend. That's not to say Will isn't flawed but his heart and compassion (and gorgeous athletic body) earn him a spot as one of my faves.

Some would consider theirs a forbidden love. But truly it's more of a second chance at love. A chance to choose the right one. The one that makes them the best that they can be not only in a race but in all the ways that matter most. Theirs is a story about love overcoming tragedy. Hold My Breath was another reason why this author is on my list of favorites.

Nico Medina’s world is eleven miles away from mine. During the day, it’s a place where doors are open—where homes are lived in, and neighbors love. But when the sun sets, it becomes a place where young boys are afraid, where eyes watch from idling cars that hide in the shadows and wicked smoke flows from pipes.

West End is the kind of place that people survive. It buries them—one at a time, one way or another. And when Nico was a little boy, his mom always told him to run.

I’m Reagan Prescott—coach’s daughter, sister to the prodigal son, daughter in the perfect family.
Life on top.
Lies.
My world is the ugly one. Private school politics and one of the best high school football programs in the country can break even the toughest souls. Our darkness plays out in whispers and rumors, and money and status trump all. I would know—I’ve watched it kill my family slowly, strangling us for years.

In our twisted world, a boy from West End is the only shining light.
Quarterback.
Hero.
Heart.
Good.
I hated him before I needed him.
I fell for him fast.
I loved him when it was almost too late.

When two ugly worlds collide, even the strongest fall. But my world…it hasn’t met the boy from West End.

Globug's Review

The Hard Count is one of my faves so far this year! I really think it's the author's best work to date and I have loved all of her books. I don't usually imagine a high school debate as being anything beyond boring so imagine my surprise when I finished reading the first chapter about a boy and girl having a debate and realized that I was entirely invested in the magic Scott was creating.

Some might say it's like a modern day West Side Story. You have Nico and Reagan who are from different classes and ethnicity. Most would see Reagan's family as a picture of what an all American family should be. In reality they're struggling with the expectations society and their community has placed on them just as much as Nico's family living on the wrong side of town. It's their common ground, a football field and debate team, that brings them together.

There's something so special about Nico. The first image the author creates of Nico is of him as a scared little boy trying to avoid the leader of the neighborhood gang. "His eyes look like the devil's, and there's always smoke coming from his mouth." Nico works hard to make good grades to make his mother and older brother proud. His effort pays off when he is awarded a scholorship to a private school on the "right" side of town.

Reagan is a Daddy's girl. I loved that even though her Dad is the football coach her character wasn't written as the head cheerleader like I expected. She's actually one of the top students in her class and she's filming a documentary about her school's football team who are known as The Tradition. One bad season is all it takes for a Coach to lose the support of board members and the community. Reagan's twin brother also happens to be the starting quarterback that lost last season's big game. So you can imagine the tension in their home.

In the beginning, Reagan felt sure that Nico hated her. He's her biggest rival in debate class. When she's see's him playing football with his buddies from the West End she knows instantly that he could be her hero. He could save the football team and her dad's job which could also save her family. All it took was for her to see something special in Nico for him to be able to see something special in himself. Convincing the team and community to look past their prejudices will be the biggest battle they face. Nico and Reagan prove to be up to the challenge and ready to play *the hard count.

*The hard count: a strategy used by the quarterback in which they will use a deceptive snap count in an effort to draw the defense offsides.

Review Tour: Friction by Sawyer Bennett

FrictionReviewBanner

Friction (A Legal Affairs Novel) Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: October 27, 2015

Synopsis:
At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

BreastMan  KickAss

Globug's Review

When I started reading Friction I knew it was supposed to be about lawyers. I didn't actually realize it was part of the Legal Affairs series. When I discovered how the other characters crossed over  I literally squealed out loud.

First impression of Leary Michaels: timid, driven, generous heart. Five years after working at her dream job the only thing that changed about her was that she was no longer timid. She learned to use all of her assets  to insure her clients, who are usually the downtrodden and less fortunate, have the best chance at justice. She may not be a saint but she has the heart of an angel. Add her personal history with her client to the case and she becomes a force to be reckoned with.

And so the games begin when opposing counsel on the most important case of her life challenges her sexually and intellectually. Her banter with Reeve is sexy and fun. Mixed in with their impassioned relationship is a malpractice lawsuit that they are on opposite sides of. I love that the author uses her in depth knowledge of the law in making this story so real. Leary and Reeve struggle with crossing ethical boundaries and keeping their hearts out of the relationship.

I loved the new supporting characters Bennett brought to Friction. Leary's best friend and part-time lover Ford needs his own book. Her boss is also an intriguing character that I would love to see get a HEA in another book. The small bits of dialogue with the characters from Legal Affairs was the frosting on the cake. Bennett can add Friction to her list of wins.

He’s the player of all players…

Newly broke girl Alexandria Asher just wants to live a normal life. After her parents are sent to prison on embezzlement charges, she enrolls in college under her mother’s maiden name and tries her best to pretend she’s someone else.

Tristan Prescott is everything Alex is trying to avoid. A seemingly egotistical, lazy, rich jerk, she dumps her beer on his head when he comes on to her one night at a party. This only spurs Tristan into action. He loves nothing more than a challenge. And the beautiful Alex is exactly the type of challenge that intrigues him.

Despite her reluctance, Alex finds herself quickly involved with Tristan. Underneath that playboy exterior is a good guy, a sweet and sexy guy who she is undoubtedly falling for. What they both don’t realize is the actions of Alex’s parents are the reason for so much tragedy in Tristan’s family. And when Tristan discovers who Alex and her family really is, can he forgive and forget?

Globug's Review

Tristan Prescott is the King of one and done. Now that his two best friends are in relationships his game is a little off. It's not really his skills as a player that are off though, he just happens to pick the wrong girl to go after. Alexandria shoots him down and it was so entertaining. His brand of flirting is so crude and vulgar. It's pretty sad that it usually works for him.

Slow Play had a pretty large list of supporting characters. I haven't read the first two books in the series but I intend to remedy that quickly. I loved all of the supporting characters. The instant attraction between Alex and Tristan is crazy hot. Tristan proves to be more than just a cocky asshole everyone expects him to be but it's because Alex brings out the best in him though he doesn't realize it. He's actually really smart as well. Once he feels the connection to Alex and the need to claim her he becomes monogamous and commited without even meaning to. He finally found the girl that completes him. The only problem is that her history is directly related to why he's been broken in the first place.

It doesn't come as a surprise that their histories once intersected without their knowledge. It even mentions it in the synopsis but there is still a twist I wasn't expecting. The blame game can be so damaging and it was painful to read. I have to say again how much I loved the supporting characters. They play a huge role in giving this story the HEA I was hoping for. Murphy can add me to her list of fans.
