Synopsis

Fighting for redemption…

I’ve lived most of my life in darkness, beneath the shadows of secrets and addictions. The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt the only girl I’d ever loved—the one who brought me into the light. In my entire life I’d made one promise—a promise I’d intended to keep. I’ve broken that promise and now I have to live with the fallout. Dixie Lark hates me, and I have to tell her that I love her. I also have to tell her a truth that might destroy us forever.

Can she love me even if she can’t forgive me?

Learning to move on…

Gavin Garrison broke his promise to my brother and he broke my heart in the process. I may never love anyone the way I’ve loved him, but at least I won’t spend my life wondering what if. We had our one night and he walked away. I’m finally beginning to move on when my brother’s wedding and a battle of the bands brings us back together.

Our band is getting a second chance, but I don’t know if I can give him one. How do you hand your heart back to the person who set it on fire once already?
 Globug's Review
I can't say I was patiently waiting for Gavin and Dixie's story because patience is not one of my virtues. I knew it was likely to be nausea inducing and it was. You know that sore feeling you get in your throat when you're trying really hard not to cry out loud? Well I felt that too. It just attests to how brilliant Quinn is.

"Wait for me, Bluebird." That's what Gavin asked of Dixie in Leaving Amarillo. Now months later with no word from him, Dixie is shocked and broken when she discovers Gavin not only didn't go on tour with her brother but has been in town the whole time. His plan was to resolve his issues so he could be the man Dixie needed though he believed he could never be the man she deserved. I was dying the whole time with worry over discovering that either of them had slept with someone else while they were apart. Of course I'm not going to tell you if they did or not.

I wasn't expecting the awesomeness Quinn brought to Dixie's story. Since the band broke up she's had the chance to figure out who she really wanted to be. She learned she could be self-dependent and would never let men dictate her life and emotions. I loved the way Quinn brought music back into Dixie's life. Dixie starts her own business of giving music lessons to less fortunate kids and her favorite student Liam had my heart bursting. I swear the addition of this character is one of my favorite parts of the series. I love that Gavin explains to Liam why he calls Dixie "bluebird". The insight into Gavin's childhood and the similarities between him and Liam just tore me up.

Gavin and Dixie have some really painful moments together. No joke, it's going to rip your heart apart. It only makes the reward that much sweeter when love overcomes the pain and hurt and heals hearts so that happily ever after is possible. Caisey Quinn gives all the feels with Missing Dixie and it's a series I will revisit again and again.
